>>578172521He probably only updates it during work vacations. He'll never regularly maintain his parallel renderers.
My inner autist managed to overpower and curb stomp my inner Schweinehund so I git bisected mesa to find out about that black texture error in Eden I posted about a while ago. It was caused by commit 2a56a25c9e96e3eff6008b91dbfaf939ec345713 first appearing in mesa-26.1.1 and it caused issues in some other games too. But only when the nu-Doom DLC was affected by this they added a way to turn on the old behavior via "radv_force_nan_preserve_min_max=true" set by either the environment or an drirc entry. So if you're a Loonix & AMD using poorfag and see black textures with edges that should be transparent, try this option.
>get sliced in half by a giant axe>"no biggie... just trollin' lmao"

I ran that vibed up Ladystalker translation with a Padforge profile that maps analog diagonals with absolute controls. Fuck playing that game with the gamepad tilted or constantly thinking about that shit. Probably makes Landstalker a lot more playable too, and lots of other iso games.
https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/14737https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/14187https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/14078get on with it faggot
>>578190109In Landstalker you can just use either of the closest corresponding absolute directions to start moving into the direction you're already facing and then just additionally push one of the two adjacent direction and then only keep holding that one to turn and keep going. It's a bit weird at first but makes the most sense actually for a game with an isometric perspective.
TheMaister have deleted his blog?
>>578191952Or I can just bind diags on my analog stick and not use some tilted dpad config or press diagonals all the time which is irritating on a dpad. I get how it makes sense. Just rather do it this way.
Happy that the Quest 2 can run PS2 games with ARMSEX2, but the input latency is killing me. I have to push the buttons like 300ms in advance, intolerable in a flipper game. Not sure yet if this is due to the emulator, its default settings, the bluetooth controller, the quest, or even the game itself.
>>578195258Any point to the Quest when it comes to PS2 emulation? Isn't it just a 2D screen in your face, or does it add depth somehow? You should run picrel, I gotsta know what you get.
>>578191664Slop
Adulthood really is acknowledging how lousy of a 2D system SNES is compared to the Genesis, colors be damned. 256h makes everything look distorted, and worse when it's ported from a 320h system. MD's 320h allows for so much more information and detail on screen. Not to mention how much the SNES slows down.>inb4I had an SNES as a kid.
>>578197909Without games, your hardware is nothing, no matter how fancy it is. What games your genesis had outside of sonic? Oh yes...
>>578196653>Any point to the Quest when it comes to PS2 emulation? As far as I know, not really, aside from the fact that it would be one less reason to buy some sort of gaming handheld if you travel a lot.A Frame/Pico/Quest is semi-portable, and playing this on a huge virtual screen is certainly more fun than on a liddle phone.>does it add depth somehow? This particular emulator does not, Dolphin actually has stereographic rendering options though, I'll experiment with those one day. There are also full-blown VR mods for some games, including Metroid Prime.>You should run picrel, I gotsta know what you get.Is that just Kirby or is that some romhack or whatever?>>578199286NTA but Phantasy Star IV is one of the few JRPG's I've liked
>>578199286Lots of great action/arcade-style games and the aforementioned Landstalker, but I'm not gonna play the "heh, I made you list games and now I'm gonna call them shit, heh" game.
>>578200346Kirby Super Star on SNES. I know it makes another anon seethe but it's a decent full-setup quick n dirty test of how laggy a setup is. 10-11 without run-ahead is the bare minimum of what I'd call decent. 14+ is oh shit nigger tier
>>578197909>>578199286ffs! Console wars here? In 2026, even? Just play the games and quit the faggotry.
>>578201791Could have said the same with a more recent gen, the PS2 was a blur machine, but if you wanted something from Japan that was not Nintendo, you had to go here. A hardware is nothing without its software.
>>578201791It's not really about a war, it just simply is a better resolution to game on. Simple as full stop. They both have good games. Can I not just point out an objective truth here?>oh no a criticism/imbalance pointed outCry me a river.
Are you gonna tell me the ZX didn't have inferior hardware to the C64, games be damned? (the games on the former also blew, but that's not the point) The truth's the truth. The fact that we can play all these games and platforms for free should allow us to say what sucks or not without the bias of owning it.
>>578202287You're free, man. Just as anyone is to criticize your underage behavior.

>>578196653>>578200346>Any point to the Quest when it comes to PS2 emulation?Wait, I forgot: lightgun games. Can't play those on regular emulators unless you have a CRT.
>>578209939Ah yeah, I have considered one just for that. Good point. So you're running the emu on the Quest hardware itself then? Wonder what the poverty hardware in it is capable of. Can it uprez at all?
>>578205947The trannies took over https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/issues/14459
>>578205947New hardware renderer features for better performance and accuracy; ROV for fast max blends, AA1 for PS2's esoteric anti-aliasing, AAT for better transparency handling, shader based anisotropic filtering because of driver issues with certain vendors, and so on. TJ has been carrying mainline PCSX2's dev for a little bit now. Merges are just slow, because... reasons? To me it felt like they wanted to pack each "stable" release with as many new features as possible.
>>578211180So many memes that aren't worth losing having the ability to emulate the PS2 without stutters, damn.
>>578211015SomethingAwful disease, many such cases.
Who's ready to play DeS at 0.8FPS?
>>578213472Things have to move forward at some point. Most emulators have to deal with shaders, PCSX2 was the outlier. That uber-shader PR effectively solves the problem, and it's something Dolphin had to rely on too. Next you're going to tell me soft floats aren't worth the performance cost and rounding/clamping is good enough.
>>578210338>So you're running the emu on the Quest hardware itself then?that footage of flipinc was of armsx2 running on the hardware itself, yes.I don't know if it supports light guns, but there's a PCVR project that does:https://www.emuvr.net/
>>578216792Are you also gonna tell me that soft float, peripherals, pressure sensitivity, and patch management that doesn't suck ass is worth losing for shaders in a system no one emulates at native res anyway?
>>578211015Neither Link or Jordan are devs, Link can barely type coherent messages and Jordan at most will update a submodule every now and then; otherwise he's just the resident game index janitor. Theres a bunch of virtue signaling around Nvidia in their discord server, mainly over AI, but also because half of them switched to AMD and use Linux now.
>>578218004What the fuck are you talking about?
>>578218385Ah, just some schizo here that defends LRPS2 over Reliquary for, I dunno what reason really. Librashaders are nice and I generally like RA but that core is lacking.
>>578218153>ayy + troonuxNot the worst choice, honestly that's where things should be heading, but pretending AMD isn't a bottom-line focused corporation or heavily invested in AI is ridiculous. Linux is only as viable as it is now thanks to heavy corporate investment and corpos trying to sever from or stick it to Microsoft. Microsoft is heavily invested in AI. Why are you using MS-owned Github, then? What's with people needing to church up and righteously justify everything they do? There is no green, cage-free, gentrified, ethical way to be involved in tech you pretentious losers.
>>578216792>That uber-shader PR effectively solves the problemLet's hope so>Next you're going to tell me soft floats aren't worth the performance cost No, about time this got fixed. I'm not code savvy enough to understand the detail but the rounding basically means gameplay in some games might have gotten the wrong math, basically? that's terrible
>>578177076>played out, dated pop culture referencesI hate fan translators as much as i hate official localizers.
>>578197909>256h makes everything look distortedOnly if you're doing something wrong.>how much the SNES slows down. This isn't as common as people make it out to be. And besides, this is an emulation board, you can make slowdown disappear with emulators. >when it's ported from a 320h systemThis is very rare.>MD's 320h allows for so much more information and detail on screenBarely. It does look nicer yes, but not much. Also many megadrive games only use its 256h mode. Also The SNES had a 512h mode which a lot of JRPGs use for displaying kanji clearly.
>>578220751I'm a little perplexed as to why it's a problem now. Why does it seem to hitch more than it used to? Is it indeed shader compilation or something else being loaded/compiled or inefficiently loaded? If so, why? What are we gaining from this trade-off? Does anyone know when/how/why this started?
>>578221324*I'll ad, i love the megadrive and the SNES.I just bought a megadrive in fact, and a flash cart, and a new CRT and transcoder to play it all on.I'm not trying to start a fight about MD vs SNES.
>>578221324Very rare my ass! There's dozens of examples of western games that started on MD that got cropped and stretched for their SNES ports. Yes, that 512h mode is very cool for VNs but it is not viable for action games at all. Don't get me wrong, I don't think the SNES sucks. I'd say it has higher highs than the MD in its library, even. I just like how Megadrive's wider resolution and (native) performance looks and feels.
>>578221376see >>578211180Implementing so many shader-based fixes and tricks instead of relying on hardware functions made the shader calls complex enough that it takes time for them to compile.

Never owned or tried any of these Retro handhelds before and this might be my last chance to get one at a reasonable price. This thing looks like it emulates games better than my laptop. I've seen videos of people emulating GC and PS2 games at 3x the native resolution, meanwhile my laptop stutters during native resolution GameCube emulation (the console's original resolution, not my laptop). That's crazy, and it's so tiny.

Looks like the vine demo will pass in DK64 on SiSTer if you set the DDR3 Delay to 56, but I wonder if that's a little slower than N64. Either way it's not game agnostic behavior. I bet ModRetro just has an ini toggling this for DK64 to pass it too.
>>578799416This does not fix the Body Harvest intro sync, however.>>578796584>>578796795Not much, admittedly, but MiSTer fixes and research have been applied to MAME: https://grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtNA_aebac39f-2e88-4c4f-8073-4de748ccd3e9To summarize: Parodius, Hyper Duel, Surprise Attack. That said, if most of MiSTer's 'fixes' are simply a knock-on effect of how an FPGA operates, then I suppose there's not much that can be done.
I still don't see why CDi DVC isn't tackled on PC, yet is on MiSTer, outside of the right autists being present and active in the MiSTer community. Muh-timing/interpreter slowdown isn't an excuse there. Same for that VB Dragon Hopper issue some (based) retard on here fixed through vibe-coding. Sometimes it's just down to interest.

I currently am syncing the entire "%AppData%/Ryujinx/bis/" directory with no ignore rules set. The problem is stemming from how Ryujinx and its forks name save data based on when the game was first launched on that particular instance of the emulator and not on any kind of game ID.Upon further research, I'm thinking that I should be syncing "%AppData%/Ryujinx/bis/", "%AppData%/Ryujinx/profiles/" and "%AppData%/Ryujinx/system/". Tested Family Guy Funny Moments, and the earliest amount of input delay is 6 frames, though it's inconsistent. Jumping has a higher amount of delay, and I think that might be by design. (Unfortunately.)https://files.catbox.moe/msja60.mp4
This time I tried a good game, and LocoRoco has 3 frames of input delay. This might be a stronger candidate where the emu (PPSSPP) itself has input lag of some kind. Maybe it's a PGS issue, I don't know and don't care but any stuttering happening is a change from old pcsx2 which I got running smooth as butter.
>>579095459The shader thing occur (supposedly) on base PCSX2, so it's a gsdx thing. If you have stutter with PGS, then the reason is something else. Maybe just you hardware can't keep up, especially if you run with the softfloat activated.

>>579101586>is it any better than simply using ParallelGSsoftfloat and ParallelGS are unrelated.Softfloat fixes PS2 games where the actual game logic gets calculated wrong due to PS2 CPU doing weird illegal math shit.ParallelGS just fixes graphical bugs by basically having a software renderer that can also increase resolution, because it uses shaders to do it, in parallel, making it fast enough to be viable.
>>579105110Oh okay, so the Burnout series is safe. Guess I'll only use PGS if I ever get into the Armored Core series.
>>579105110 (You)i worded that poorly, its not fixing graphical bugs by allowing upscaling, thats just a nice bonus. but its fixing graphical bugs by virtue of just being a software renderer (thats running on compute shaders, which makes it also a bit more flexible allowing some cool tricks)and i should word softfloat better, softfloat fixes bugs introduced by emulators, because the emulators get the game logic wrong, because they dont emulate the PS2 CPU correctly, the PS2 does math in a way that modern CPUs dont, to oversimplify alot: on a PS2 2+2 is not always 4, and to get a modern CPU to calculate math in that strange way requires alot of overhead and alot of cleverness
>>579105737PGS work really good with Armored Core, fix all the hud bugs and you can squeeze a sharp image out of it.

>>579183345>>578211015>>579182889>>579182805>>579182682>>579166308At this point it's an inevitable force of nature that requires pruning and prevention in tech/nerd/white collar spaces. Like mold, pests, or weeds it will take over if nothing's done. The white nerd archetype is dealing with an epidemic on the level of crack cocaine amongst blacks in the 80s. SomethingAwful (where 'troon' came from) and their man-dress takeover was the warning, and it was too late by the time speedruns went full chopdick.

>>579210115you should lick their feet for what they have coded for you you ungrateful fuck
>>579207605Mid game outside of the soundtrack from Sunsoft's peak era for NES music. You can get that from better games, though. Always found the sprites and art a little ugly, too.
That modern sequel was also a real snooze-fest. Beyond it being a well-crafted Famicom game that game really doesn't gave much going for it.
>>579171217Imma be honest with you GSHW should be thrown out, software renderer and parallel-gs exist.
>>579212140Sure I'm thankful for the foundation the made, and Stenzek for bringing the UX out of the plugin-hell Bush-era mess it was, but it's been stagnant and resistant to improvements since. >childish refusal to merge PGS; I don't care what contrarian babble you have about the shaders, schizanon>won't merge softfloat>made it shader-based but won't accept outside help in removing the stutter side-effects because sorry CHUD we run an organic coffee enema show here, NO CLANKERS ALLOWED :^)It's become an incestuous, glacial-paced tranny club like everything else, and you ain't it.
Muh shaders
>>579219957on the other hand you have LRPS2 that won't add all the missing input features because it's either too hard or impossible to do within the MaisterPad paradigm, and the hint enhancement system is total opaque garbage. It should be more like the Cheat system where you can tick things on and off specifically per game, but they'll never do that and faggot here will just keep eating their shit and asking for seconds, so why bother?Meanwhile Reliquary kind of does it all.
>>579219210may well be that it's just nostalgia for me.This was one of my favorite games when I was a child, but I never got to finish it because I lost it (I lent it out to a kid in the neighborhood and that asshole didn't give it back to me before his family moved to a different city) and by the time emulators became a thing I had forgotten its name.>sprites and art a little uglyobjectively, it has some of the most detailed animations on the NES, and I like the cutesy but slightly surreal art style
>>579189984Great games. They shouldn't be hard to emulate even for a laptop
>>579172032video capture still doesnt work. i tried vulkan and it doesnt work which tells me they still have not fixed shit and its a waste of time trying to test the other codecs.
>>579219697>>579219957This. Parallel was able to do within the span of a few years what GSdx wasn't able to in several decades. They have too much ego to admit their hacky shit software can't compete and pretending to polish a turd won't change that. It's a massive wasted effort when it could go to actually important changes. Maybe then it would be worthwhile to appreciate the software they make, because they aren't arbitrarily holding themselves back with 0 benefit to the end user.
>>579220542I tried out the new slop LRPS2 added here>>578759735And it really can't compete with reliquary's implementation. Granted I was only messing around with settings, but I was chugging on LRPS2 with softfloat on except VU1. Meanwhile reliquary handled it like a champ, I felt absolutely no performance impact.
>>579227376It's not exactly a waste of time to try the others if you really want to use it, but they should look into why some codecs are crashing. Just use some external means otherwise, I guess. I like ShareX.
>>579219957>childish refusal to merge PGS; I don't care what contrarian babble you have about the shaders, schizanonThanks god they refuse to merge it. Surely you dont want to let TJ to (((fix))) pgs too, after he (((fixed))) gsdx.
>>579229554i just tried it and it doesnt work just like i knew would happen. desu it says windows and i am on linux but it should have worked on linux out the gate and i have all codecs installed. it seems to me mkv is the problem they need to fix. just a couple of weeks ago i tried it and only that garbage mp4 was the only one working. this should only be a problem in windows not linux and supposedly they just fixed it on windows.
>>579227860lmao. parallel-gs standalone STILL doesn't work on RTX 5000its like he doesn't even want to compete with regular pcsx2
>>579231456sorry mkv works with libx264 so the problem is not mkv
>>579232016Works on my machine
>>579233013h264, hevc and av1 does not work with vaapi or vulkan on mkv but software renderer libx264 work on both mp4 and mkv. i cant test on intel or nvidia gpus because i only have amd and my hardware supports all of these hardware encoders so they should work and they work outside of pcsx2. another software codec that works on mkv is ffv1(ffmpeg).

It's kind of funny that PCSX2 now has higher hardware requirements than RPCS3 despite the PS3 being 35 times faster than the PS2.

Why MAME sucks so fucking much? People love talking shit about Retroarch, but at least this is usable after a few tweaks. Most MAME configurations are not even done inside the app

how good would games like slay the spire 2, zero ranger, taiko (steam), Crypt of the NecroDancer, risk of rain returns, run on winlator on a snapdragon 695
PCSX2 and Dolphin don’t track how much I play, but RetroArch does. Anyone else experiencing this?
