They were like an alpha and beta version of Zero 3, which finally become worthy of a retail product. The pacing issues was not gone until Zero 4, though.iX games (both of them) are just better games. One may argue that cyber-elf management systems contribute a lot to the fun, especially in Zero 3, but it was just an additional system placed on top of an action game - and as an action game, iX and its sequel are fundamentally better. Movement, pacing, and the most important - scoring. Which Zero games don't have, like, at all. Ranking system does not count, it does have a clear ceiling.

Biggest complaint about MN9 really come down to the level design not utilizing the game's systems to their fullest potential. Feels like its holding itself back at times. Shame because I see a really clear vision. Also, it's main villain was way cuter than any of the Gunvolt villainesses.Gunvolt on the other hand is a mess. Enemies in Gunvolt are so incredibly static that they might as well be obstacles, especially when you add the fact that you can cancel anything by using scrolling.
