I've already started arguing back with several of these Japanese ML-haters. Interestingly, English Twitter has been much more positive about the 3.6 Qingxiao story. Personally, I feel like English and Korean Twitter have a much higher preference for ML than Japanese Twitter. I think it's because the Japanese players have been too deeply poisoned by Mihoyo's ensemble-cast camera-protagonist style. My only concern is that the Japanese players might fill out surveys with anti-ML feedback that influences the dev team – after all, the Japanese market does contribute a pretty significant share of revenue.

To be fair, I'm a hebe fan, but I still really like Qingxiao.Why? Probably because of Qingxiao's personality – cold on the outside, warm on the inside. I like that cool-faced cute + airheaded + beautiful-but-clumsy character archetype, which is also why I like certain shoujo characters. Even though Qingxiao is a mature woman, she still has those traits. To outsiders she's cold and aloof, but to the Rover she's gentle and delicate – that contrast. Compared to other mature female characters like Fox or Cantarella, who are a bit too flirtatious for my taste – I feel like I can't handle them (disclaimer: not trying to start a fight, just my personal preference).
