Essentially, she'd be the real Maria, sent forward in time because of a very faulty Chaos Control used by one of Gerald's assistant as he was shot. Also for lore, Gerald would be revealed to be such a genius that everyone on the ARK was 100% loyal to him, hence why GUN got so nervous when the kid from Shadow The Hedgehog reported seeing Gerald with Black Doom.Also it's at this point that Gerald's video starts to play, and the two teams start to cooperate to reach Cannon's Core while Maria would try to convince the GUN Commander (apparently he's named Abraham?) to abandon Gerald's plan, revealing that he was the one who prepared everything and made sure that Shadow was kept in an outdated, deserted facility. I haven't decided if he decides to abandon it or if he get shot by his own troops because "my wife and kids are down there, you sick freak" or whatever. That'd be probably too dramatic for a Sonic story, so I think I'd have removed it.After that, it's just SA2 except Shadow actually survives and everyone lives happily together, with Tails and Eggman staying with Maria and Shadow aboard the ARK to try to cure her while the GUN commander get court martial'ed.

Blaze and Marine are a Girl Sonic and Girl Tails, they are the masculine version. They both deliberately contrast Amy and Cream where they are the girly girl duo unlike Blaze and Marine are princely and boyish respectively. Blaze's design, just like Surge is an inverse of Amy on purpose. Marine is also this, having been designed off of a Cream concept, however they got rid of the dress for shorts to further accentuate her more boyish nature. Only one person truly got hurt directly by Eggman in the Classic games.Classic Eggman was just annoying, animal buddies are easy to free and Classic Sonic was able to stop and reverse his plans before they even start. I don't think the scene is bad and i also think her rather passive role in the game actually supports the themes of the game and her parallels with maria more, but it was there.
