Heartbreaking: Shittiest pubs you've ever seen make the malice expedition feel like auric maelstrom
>>
>>578513653
I kind of enjoyed the gofast of soloing expeditions when they first came out. I got halfway to Salvage Lord, and am glad that they made the requirement easier, meaning I never had to play that awful mode again.
Ever since they made it so your sub-human """teammates""" can permanently drop resources (You) gathered, I've lost all interest in the mode. Now, sure, you can funny haha
>expeditions were le bad anyway!
and you would be right, but this one change made them completely intolerable.
>zoom around having fun going fast

>retard C panics, tries to hail Mary revive them, goes down
>they're on the opposite side of the map as 3 players, doing not even a quarter of the work I'm pulling solo
>but their inevitable deaths cost ME progress
I understand that this mechanic is designed to force players to stick together, as a truly atrocious bandaid because they couldn't figure out a better way of doing this, but it literally just turns dogshit pubniggers into active, and actually really impactful griefers just by virtue of being fucking retarded.
>um, just stick together chuddie
Can do. I can't reach into the psyker's computer and stop him from repeatedly blowing his head up, or the plasma vet/skit doing the same. Or the [insert low HP class] face tanking all of the corruption and then running into a poxburster while the piss toughness he already forced me to use 5 times to save him is coincidentally on cooldown this time.

>Staves feel like shit in general
Lightning staff's rightclick is a surprisingly decent stun, but its damage output was already questionable before the enemy HP and spawn rate changes, and got power crept out of relevance with said changes. You just use it to open up bulwarks or stunlock dangerous melee units. It's a leftclick monster though once fully built into it.
Ground pound staff is genuinely quite strong for the control it offers, and has decent damage. Again, leftclicks are fucking amazing.
Bowling ball staff is unfortunately just kind of a worse plasma gun. Still viable to use, but you need to try twice as hard to make it work.
Flame staff mostly feels bad because shit dies too fast in auric and there isn't enough enemy density to justify having infinite cleave. A fully flame-maxxed build with shriek is one of the most damaging things you can possibly play in the higher havocs, but unfortunately complete overkill in auric and below no matter how much shitters and retards want to parrot "but le havoc build" without understanding it.
>>The strongest way of running the class is with a big sword and going in 24/7
Only partly true. That build, with a shock staff, built for leftclicks, is the strongest way to play the class in auric. You can juggle both just fine on the same build.
The actual strongest havoc build uses the dick sword with the retarded elite kill blessing to make the flames deal even more damage while holding it like some kind of perverse stat stick. Although using a macro to animation cancel the light 1 (stab) is up there with reasons to use it. Which is an exploit that fatshark for some reason haven't fixed, despite fixing the same on skitarii's transphobic blades, which are NEWER than the dicksword macro. Who the fuck knows what these dumb Sw*ggers are thinking.

Could you post your build? As I said I am a noob and I'd rather trust fellow anons instead of random fellas online
It also feels like this game as a whole is more complicated compared with v2. So many random mechanics and keywords and interactions.

>Could you post your build?
It's a bit complicated, and psyker builds are subject to a great deal of skubbing because some minor choices you make can affect build performance by a lot.
Picrel is how you build both melee and staff leftclick together, taking all the bare minimum.
You build top right crit to support your staff, then go left for the staff, and build even more crit. Empathic Evasion is, once again, for your staff, letting you be projectile immune virtually permanently since the shock staff has obscene crit rate. Then you just build Gaze however you prefer it, but you have to take Warp Unbound.

There's a couple ways to go about finishing this up. You can go peril reduction on kill and try to maximize Gaze duration to make your melee stronger, usually taking the right keystone. You can completely ignore that and purely focus on Warp Unbound for a more staff oriented build, taking the left keystone for cooldown reduction and have 100% uptime for infinite staff spam.
Bottom right has True Aim, which lets you occasionally force crits. Shock staff shouldn't take it, ground pound and bowling ball likely want to.
>defenses
3 health curios, consider gunner resist perks on them. Because Empathic Evasion makes you projectile immune when it matters, and toughness is intended as an anti-ranged mechanic, you can kinda-sorta neglect toughness. You DO still need toughness generation, so consider sinking some points in the top of the tree if you aren't going Essence Harvest on the left keystone. Just a Dream's global damage reduction + health curios let you facetank the bursters that your pubbies will regularly blow up in your face when you melee.

Most builds will prefer to take Kinetic Flayer for their blitz, but that's +1 point cost. Smite is useful enough even if you only pull it out 2-3 times in a game, but take what you like.

Take this build as a suggestion. Psyker is pretty flexible. Oh and critmaxx your staff for leftclicks.
>>
>>578525052
>>578525779
It's also possible to build into Perilous Combustion + Souldrinker + Wildfire and set shit on fire, but I've found that the overall damage gains in auric are negligible for the investment cost, and I never had any reason to play psyker in havoc because it's so overpopulated with the class making it trivial to find at least a decent one. I'm not informed enough on really weird off-meta builds. I can however confirm that melee focused gaze + DD does make very big numbers in h40, too.

I highly recommend taking Penetration of the Soul (bottom left) for big damage against crushers. I am a big fan of Warp Ghost (bottom center) because I consider passive quelling to be the most useless mechanic psyker has access to, especially on gaze builds, but I'm sure the local autist will have a threadlong meltie over me saying this.

I can't give too much advice on how to build the sword, just that it's supposed to use heavy attacks for stronger enemies, and that the stab attacks are obscenely powerful, including one of the marks' push followup stab. I don't know exactly what the optimal blessings are, so if someone else has more experience playing that build a ton, please weigh in.
>>
>>578522597
i would prefer seeing l4d2 getting a 64bit update instead, it's the only source game valve didn't bother updating to 64bit for some weird fucking reason
>>
>>578526653
because l4d2 doesn't make them money
imagine if valve had used it as their testbed for all their monetization practices instead of tf2
>survivor skins, weapon skins, special infected skins
>>
>>578527210
>the most turd-world polluted game in the history of gaming
Well it would net them less profit to begin with, because turdies are poor. Also imagine how many more broken ESL scammers you would be spammed by every game.
>>
I am death >:(
>>
>>578527393
I don't really get why l4d2 we know now garnered a playerbase like that, especially since it's not f2p like tf2. tf2 has been more free longer than l4d2 ever has even with all its sales and promotions over the years. If things were swapped and l4d2 got continual support plus made f2p then the outcome would be extremely different to what we have today.
>>
>>578527969
Because turdies, especially eastern "Europeans" live in severe cognitive dissonance of hyper-nationalism mixed with a severe inferiority complex. Playing PVP games makes them have actual conniptions when an English-speaking supposed gamburger taunts them to full tilt, and then they either get banned or land in some punishment pool or beat their whore wife to death. It's what happens virtually every time they try to play PVP games. The actual top 0.1% elite gets there because they aren't brainwashed and aren't mentally ill.
As a result of this, they flock to PVE games where they can employ their deeply ingrained crab mentality to the maximum, by passively or actively griefing whatever teammate they fear is insulting them, either by simply being a better player, or by laughing at their broken ESL attempts at banter and insulting their nationality (as one should).
>especially since it's not f2p
I mean it kinda sorta is. I remember being able to get L4D keys on shady key sites for like 3 bucks. Valve tends to localize their games' pricing because they like money and it makes them more money. It's probably still the work-hour equivalent of someone in a civilized country paying 40 bucks for the turdie, but 300 roubles or whatever that ends up coming out to is at least vaguely affordable.
Just think in bottles of vodka, instead of kebabs.

I'm so fucking tired of people being so fucking shit in Havoc party finder than I'm now dedicating my life to make every public group as miserable as possible. I want everyone to feel my pain and to hate this mode as much as I have come to hate it. I am going to switch to a shit ass build as soon as everyone has clicked ready, I am going to keep walking off of ledges in tight situations, I am going to shoot every burster an ally is trying to shove, I am going to quadruble dip every medicae station, I am going to drop every medical crate just before full team medicae, I am going to dodge trappers so that they hit my allies, I am going to keep getting dogged and mutied and I am going to hog all the ammo. Never played Ogryn, how do the roombler and the nade goontlet differ?
>>
>>578551889
Rumbler clears entire rooms and staggerrapes bosses. It struggles with faraway targets because it has a lot of lag before the projectile kills them unless you're an aim god. A PBB rumbler build clears like 80-90% of the map with no real effort, including havoc. You just need someone to deal with the annoying ranged units and disablers.
Grenade gauntlet has no real weaknesses but has a narrower blast radius. It's more useful for applying brittleness because it does so more quickly. Pulls out very quickly and is thus one of the better secondary weapons for general use, but is still worth focusing a build around because it isn't that far behind the rumbler in performance.

While I probably shouldn't trust most of you, I would like some input. One of my brothers is having some issues staying social with his friends since they live in different cities and mostly play grand strategy games. The do like l4d2 a bit and 2 of them like 40k. So I'm going to pitch them Darktide and offer to buy them all a copy on the next sale. The pitch is that the matches are short enough that it requires less planning, doesn't require everyone to play, can be set to private for friends to join mid-mission, has a solid gameplay loop, outside of the highest difficulty there are a lot of viable weapons/builds, and monthly events to give a reason to meet up online. What would you add or drop?

You just said so much wrong shit.

>Lightning sucks ass
Don't know which lightning you're talking about but Smite breaks the game to the point where no one wants a psyker to use it because it makes the game boring, and the Electro staff is absolutely Havoc 40 viable with a good Scrier's Gaze build.
>Staves feel like shit in general
I mean obviously this is very subjective but I'd argue that at least the Voidblast and Voidstrike are very fun and satisfying to use. They have a bit of oomph to them and can mulch big groups of enemies if your build is right.
>No big ass kamikaze explosion
There is literally a build where you run 3 wound curios with the Crystalline Will talent, and put +5% health on ONE of the curios, and once you get down to 3 wounds, you can keep blowing up as much as you want without gaining any more wounds. Its a bug and may or may not be fixed one day, (this is fatshark we're talking about) and its a gimmicky way to play but it does legitimate damage.
>The strongest way of running the class is with a big sword
Melee Psyker is strong but Venting Shriek Inferno staff and Scrier's Gaze Voidblast are both stronger. Melee Pskyer with the BFGS is probably third.

So basically you haven't been playing long enough to figure the class out. Git gud.

Roombler puts monsters down much faster, maybe twice as fast as the gauntlet which means less time spent shooting after barrage runs out. I still like the gauntlet better because it deals with elites and crowds in a more straightforward way and even when a run gets ended by bosses it's the humanoids causing problems, not the monsters.

Anon raging at Space Marine 2 grind some time ago made me realize just how ironic this situation is
It took Darktide years and like 3 complete reworks of loot, crafting and itemization systems to lessen the grind from an absurd RNGfest and ultimately mimick sensible Space Marine 2 linear progression, even if some useless remnants of an old system like Brunt and Melk remain and stick out like a sore thumb

On the contrary Space Marine 2 took time to over time make grind miserable, added some worthless prestige, additional resources, caps on resources etc

You stack as much crit as possible for your crit = shock (= stun) = brittle talents, then stack as much attack speed as possible (more important than damage, if you have to make any concessions), and then you spam light horizontals.
That's it. That's all you ever need to do.
Block -> light attack -> sprint heavy lets you lunge and slide if you time it right, and repeat ad infinitum to zoom around at knife user speeds. This only works on the horizontal mode, and is why I don't use the vertical much.
I only use the vertical mode against isolated crushers or bosses, but I prefer using my gun for monsters.

Space Marine 2 would be the perfect 40k game if it had combat like Darktide + say similiar weapon system/upgrade system like Darktide.

Darktide would be the perfect 40k game if it had more (early) SM2 style upgrade/auxillary systems supporting the gameplay.

I think Perfect Strike might be the best blessing alongside shred for the transonic blades.
Since the electrocution on crit applying brittleness is very strong, and in theory, with Perfect Strike lets you potentially apply this to whole hordes since crits lets you cleave everything.

How does Darktide compare to Helldivers 2?
>>
>>578590343
i mean they're not really comparable, one is a more skill expressive experience where movement and skill matter a lot on higher difficulties, the other is more of an autistic sandbox experience with a multitude of heavy ordnance to choose from and experiment with but fairly shallow moment to moment gameplay
>>
>>578590343
one of those is a 3rd person shooter

>>
>>578590343

It's too autistic.
If they've played a free weekend and said they really liked it, then gift it. But otherwise 90% of people who play Darktide play it for 8 hours and then never again, or only when there's a class released.
And it's literally one of those "it gets good after 50 hours" games.

It's Fatshark's own fault for having too much inscrutable descriptions and tutorials, confusing maps, shit matchmaking/community formation and some sort of deliberate attempt to trick people into thinking there is a campaign.

>>578587441
I'd be interested if there was some kind of armour mechanic.
They could do a thing for SoB where they get shitloads of toughness, but have really low toughness regen. Something to simulate the armour being in tact and protective, but then it can be broken.

also, how exactly do the transblade stances work? from what I gather from levelling them it's like the power sword from SM2 (sweepy slashy attacks for hordes, pokey stabby attacks for single targets) but apparently you can chain the attacks and get a damage boost or something? yeah, and thats fine, but in my experience, there will be instances in which you wont be able to maintain keep it up at 25% and youll be cucked at 5%, so for me its just better to have a consistent 15% rather the range of 25 to 5
>always felt like I was tanky enough as it was aside from eating the occasional silent crusher/mauler overhead, unless this helps with that.
it helps when youre getting your ass shot to oblivion and have to face tank a bunch of shots, it also means when you do get in melee you go back to full much quick and thus less chip damage. if you want to survive an overhead, take galvanized coating, you wont instantly die if youre at full hp; threat detection coating is basically up forever because skull counts and it will consistently kill a poxwalker nearby
>did you mean reclamation loop? it sounded shit on paper. is it better in practice?
its 1% every time you hit 3 enemies per instance, transonic blades are fast as fuck, generally swing twice per second so it will charge up really fast, the crit one is okay, its only 1.25% per second which is fine youre shooting, but id rather take reclamation because its fast when youre a melee blender
>>
>>578607784
the funny cleave capacitance node has an internal cooldown of 0.25s, so if you're perfectly hitting an attack every 0.75s, it's 1.25%/s, but far more likely there will be discrepancies that make it worse
the crit one can be refreshed during the 4s active duration

Yes. AI has deleted company data in 3 notable cases where the data was later fully or mostly recovered. You have been swept up by the hysteria like the mindless cattle that you are, and that's why you are applying a unique standard to AI that you aren't using for any other industry
>don't use electricity because power outages happen
>don't use computer storage because you can lose it to viruses or bugs!
Emotionally retarded, hysterical man-child

Live next to a data center, not an AI data center. One of those requires several magnitudes more power and cooling than the other one does. You keep failing to make a distinction.
Saying that AI development has been unregulated and reckless isn’t hysterical, it’s the sanest possible stance you could have on the subject. The drive to shove it down everyone’s throats and ignore all of its issues is the hysteria.

Also, totally unrelated, but I am absolutely certain you get zero bitches. A little humor to lighten things up.

Yeah, AI data centers pay for more electricity and water usage while also supplying the locale with more tax money. Sounds reawy scawy if you're gullible tiktok cattle
>Saying that AI development has been unregulated and reckless isn’t hysterical
That's exactly what it is. Worthless nigger-cattle who don't know shit, don't produce shit and don't contribute anything dragging down the rest of society down because they are neurotic and easily manupilated

That's the reason why so many people have been tricked into being more likely to want coal plants which are worse in every way than data centers (even non-AI) in their locale. You have been trained to attack and shit and piss your pants as soon as you hear "data center"
>Also, totally unrelated, but I am absolutely certain you get zero bitches. A little humor to lighten things up.

You can’t be this naive. They’ll all get tax incentives, write offs, and threaten to cancel their project if they don’t get extremely favorable conditions from the local government. Selling these shitboxes as infrastructure is part of that con. Holy shit man. You swallowed the koolaid.

You’re reading the positives of an AI data center as given by a project proposal. Those are theoretical, assuming the project doesn’t get tax incentives and long term tax abatements, which they always do. A 30 year tax abatements will long outlive the building, which will have to be torn down and rebuilt once it reaches obsolescence in 5 years, at which point the terms will be renegotiated and a new abatement begins. You’re also using data centers as an example instead of AI data centers, because again you cannot differentiate the two.
Basically, you’re an idiot.

No wonder you're so anti-AI data center. You literally don't know shit about anything. The hardware gets updated and the infrastructure stays, because it's far more cost effective

You are dangerously naive. There’s not even a single doubt in your body that your local representative has your best interest at heart. You are god’s perfect idiot.
>The hardware gets updated and the infrastructure stays
Oh sure, and the new hardware will have the exact same power, cooling, and space requirements as the previous, right? Again, you’re conflating data centers with AI data centers.

You do realize that the tax cuts on the AI data centers will only benefit the people who fucking built it? You won't see a cent out of that tax cuts or benefit from them.
This shit doesn't even create jobs in the long term, it only creates couple of dozen when they are building the fucking thing, after which the jobs will be gone because there is nothing to build. And the AI center won't need to hire and won't hire the same amount of people from communities either.
And the people who have to foot the bill for this shit will be the common man aka the taxpayers, aka fucking YOU and me.
You fucking retard. You fucking cretin.
>>
>>578612834
>Yeah there also used to be fewer than a billion people on earth
You do realize that majority of the 8 or so billion people are just varying degrees of browns living in Africa and India? Who are entirely fucking worthless and provide and contribute fucking NOTHING to the world besides overpopulating their home countries.

Again, you won't die because your slop machine gets the boot. I know for a fact you've survived for at least 3 decades before this AI slop came around.

Only reason for you to defend this shit is because you're retarded brown yourself and you literally lack the IQ to imagine bettering yourself and not being dependent on a Clanker Nanny which tells you to do everything.

Okay, since you retards wanna talk about AI, which one of THESE GAMES has the best AI?

Left4Dead
Deep Rock Galactic
Killing Floor
Payday
Earth Defense Force
WWZ
The Outlast Trials
Barotrauma
No More Room in Hell 2
Alien Fireteam Elite 2
Darktide
Space Marine 1 or 2

>>
>>578637096
>Left4Dead
I recall L4D enemies having somewhat sophisticated AI, especially for its time. Spitters are programmed to be slippery, smokers try to pull you around corners, and AI tanks can be reasonably deadly.
>Deep Rock Galactic
I don't think any DRG enemy has special AI, they all just follow whatever player was closest at the time of deciding. Even the robots just do their special shit on a random timer, there's no rhyme or reason to it.
>Killing Floor
I only played the first one, where the AI is also dumb as bricks.

>>
>>578638228
>forgot Darktide
fucking lmao
Darktide enemy AI is also offensively stupid actually. Bosses just switch aggro on a timer based on whomever accumulated the biggest aggro score, but that score is also apparently capped, and aggro manipulating abilities basically don't work on it. Most generic enemies just have excellent pathfinding, but extremely basic AI, including specialists. The director is kinda interesting for spawning punishment disablers to chase stragglers, and I think bombers are coded to prioritize bullying downed players, but that's about the extent of vaguely intelligent behavior.
Darktide AI is pretty dumb.

It's probably really basic stuff under the hood, but the enemies that should know a bit about tactics actually do act that way. Stuff like running behind cover until they get reinforcements, or flamers accompanying trappers if one is around, or enemies.trying to get you surrounded.
>>
>>578639641
>It's probably really basic stuff under the hood,
It is quite basic. The main reason it feels good is because there's actual verisimilitude to how most enemies react to the player's actions. Shotgunners swapping to melee when you get close, shooters cowering when you fire suppression in their general direction, trappers bombers and snipers being cowardly cunts and running away when you catch them. But the only complicated part about what they do is the pathfinding, which is really good, but that's about it. The cracks begin to show once you try to abuse the pathfinding by jumping over a table to confuse a daemonhost, or camp near a safe ledge while a mutant jumps up it, then jump down and watch it jump down after you like a lost puppy.

What is the minimum I have to do to maintain h40 assignment ranking again? Just do any havoc mission once a week or something? I am kind of burned out on havoc.
>>
>>578646553
I always do my weeklies in h40, and I always get a h40 resource cache. Supposedly you just have to do any havoc from start to finish to maintain your assignment rank, but the resource cache you get depends on the level of your win, or something like that? Getting a h40 W is just a matter of playing something like 2 games on average if you do it on HK and bring an actually good build. No need to spend 30 minutes in the party finder if you do it in a region without ego tripping retards bringing contrarian builds that do nothing.
>>
>>578646934

>>578647346
Again, I can't say for sure and I never had a reason to look it up and confirm whether those claims are true, so do it at your own risk and don't blame me (random anon on the internet who could be lying or talking out of his ass) when it doesn't work out. I actually have no idea how rank decay and all that shit works because I always finish my 30-40 climb on reset week.
>I don't give a flying fuck about resources (and neither should anyone who has been playing this game for more than a month or two)
I'd say that depends on a couple more factors. Having unequivocally infinite resources is nice peace of mind, knowing that I can just skip the level grind for new weapons, and just swap shit around completely at will without ever having to think about resources. I've dipped down to under 100k-ish diamantine in the past after buying out DLC weapon levels and spending some time messing around with blessings in the psykhanium.
It's probably not a terrible idea to care until you have every class maxed out, and that takes more than a month or two unless you're unemployed.

Gonna have to be more specific on whether you mean split screen.

I'd suggest Slay the Spire 2 because it has plenty normie appeal and is easily interrupted or even quit and resumed later, but it doesn't have split screen support, makes hard R gamers seethe because a boogeyman's name is in the credits, and card games are math games which almost oneshots normie brains and I have no idea how normie your GF is.

I know about it, I'm just not mentally ill enough about politics to join some collective meltie over a name appearing in the credits when the game is good on its own merits.
Don't think I haven't noticed how the only white person in STS2 is the chick who gets herself skeleton'd and thus no longer has any skin. I just don't have severe autism so I can enjoy the game in spite of it.

Most noobs never figure out without being explicitly told, that you can block push, or that blocking and pushing are all around you.
Granted, Darktide does a really horrible job at teaching new players basic mechanics that they MUST learn, and also does a horrible job at teaching them just how important those mechanics are. I think melee damage toughness bleedthrough is basically just a footnote, for example.

Depending on how tech literate you are, it might be magicka.
Latest version is pretty much unplayable so you need to roll back to an older version before paradox pooed in it. It might be easier to make it work offline since most errors are network related, but I am pretty sure the latest version doesn't even work offline. Your safest bet is to get any 4.x version and it should work well offline.
It's a bit difficult on gamepads though. It is doable, but not even close to mouse and keyboard in difficulty.
20/30 mins is not even worth booting your PC for. Get a deck of cards or something.

My best guess after snooping through the code is that, in that video, the player already fought a daemonhost before, got grabbed by the daemonhost, and then the daemonhost died. When a daemonhost dies during a grab, all kinds of fucky shit happens. I would assume the game failed to clear some state, so when the daemonhost checked for whether PoV was grabbable, it just went through even at full health.

Apparently Baldur's Gate 3 has split screen, and it has a pretty good savegame system and is largely turn based anyway, so you can always interrupt it. But it's also the kind of game where you have to actually pay attention between sessions, else you'll quickly lose track of what the fuck you were doing.
Not sure about the other Larian games having split screen, but it's basically the same. Someone has to pay attention and 20-30 minute sessions are kind of annoyingly short to get anything done.
>>

>>578660539
Yeah controls on gamepad are tricky, it's an extra layer of difficulty it doesn't need
Try Rampage Knights, it's simple and games are short. The drawback is that you're at the mercy of random, always.
>>
>>578661193
>controls on gamepad are tricky,
NTA but I felt slightly overwhelmed playing Magicka on keyboard as a newer player. It's quite hard to make sense of what spell you're casting if you're stepping outside of your comfort zone of muscle memorized shit. Especially in a hectic combat situation.
>>
>>578661361
It's not that deep that you need to perfectly execute specific spells to clear it.
All you need to do on keyboard is mash 2-3 buttons with elements you want and press rightclick to release the spell.
And for magickas you memorize the codes of 2-4 useful ones and enter them like words on keyboard.
The mashing part and entering words part are magnitudes harder on controller.

From what I understand in 2 they fixed dropping in and out of matches and will do what darktide does basically of having a temp bot replacement till you can reconnect. Sounds a lot more forgiving in terms of drop in/out co-op. Also bots filling lobbies if it doesn't fill fast enough like tide.

People really like to rush raven rock. I think it mainly has to do with the map being extremely cramped and linear so there's nothing to actually explore.

>>578669786
the most broken gun is rumbler, no?
>>
>>578670326
yup, it why you so see many high ranks just going for a quick win in the 20 to 30 havoc trenches.
>>
>>578671405
Most balance breaking is definitely the rumbler. Grenade gauntlet isn't that far behind, but you have to vaguely try to make it that strong, whereas rumbler is literally free.
The most plagued by bugs is the plasma gun, which has a bug that lets you fire it something like 30-40% faster than intended.
A handful of guns have bugged reloads which can be sprint cancelled out of finishing the final portion of the animation, banking a full reload that you can later claim by pressing the reload button and just slapping the gun.
If we're including sprint animation cancelling as a bug (because the above requires it), arc rifle and again the plasma gun have far too strong reload cancels. Some other weapons apply. I believe the grenade gauntlet and kickback both have some pretty strong anim cancels too.

Bro what the FUCK are you talking about? Maybe you've never used the Arc Rifle on a proper build or been unlucky enough to be a in a group with a skitarii using it with a proper build, but it absolutely steamrolls the game in any difficulty, Havoc 40 included. Its only just behind Inferno Psyker in damage. And being ammo hungry does not immediately disqualify a weapon from being considered overpowered. Ammo hungry builds are a thing. "Oh whats that? You did 2 million damage in a mission? Oh sorry it doesn't count because you had to pick up ammo." The only time this is a problem is if theres another person in the group also playing an ammo hungry build.

ogryn guns are balanced around wasting 1/4 of the party slots on vet to feed ammo so its ok to be stronger
>>

Thanks. I'm looking at the wording in this blog https://www.playdarktide.com/news/dev-blog-updates-to-havoc , so just to make sure, I just have to play any Havoc mission but not win it? Also, concerning Havoc campaigns, does it reset my assignment rank based on my assignment at the time of the reset, or the highest achieved during the previous campaign? In other words, I just hit 31, so am I safe for 30 in the next campaign, or do I need to maintain my 31 until the reset?

They patched Gunsmith letting you bank a reload with the arc rifle, and get infinite heat on the plasma gun. They didn't fix the sprint cancelling on the reload, letting you save quite a ton of time if you time it well at every step. There's one thing to be said about skill expression, but they evidently don't intend this, and macros/cheat mods can abuse it like crazy.

>>578671802
I have used the arc rifle on an arc rifle maxxed build, with
>a.) a focus on fire rate using VE
>b.) a focus on fire rate + crit rate using ACD
>c.) the usual noosy build I run
all in different constellations of Blaze Away, Dumdum, Charmed Reload, Cavalcade etc.
It is rather braindead and strong when properly supported, but it still performs worse than just building around melee. It's also not worth spamming all the ammo away in havoc, because while it may deal memeworthy amounts of damage, it doesn't apply any control. Ogryn does both, and utterly clowns on anything the arc rifle can do. The only form of control such a build has is through VE, but as strong as VE is, it's only a bandaid. I can stunlock shit just fine with unupgraded base VE and tranny blade crits.

I must assume you're just bad at the game if arc rifle is the only build you can play and get big numbers.

Install the mod "Many More Try" [sic], search https://otwako.github.io/darktide-mission/ for damnation or auric Mercantile HL-70-04 (I don't think auric spawns more trash than damnation), make sure the mission is at least 30 minutes outdated so nobody can join you. Blow up the first wall, kill the 3 ragers or whatever spawns behind it, and then turn immediately right. There should be some coils or crates or somesuch you can sit on and just spam block pushes while a horde accumulates. Might have to wait for your bots to die, but they usually kill too slowly while the infinite horde keeps reinforcing.

Apparently people have also done it in mortis trials, but you can't force those solo, so you'd have to host a private lobby and get a +1.

In Hard it can be attributed to the players not being familiar with the map (a problem compounded by how the game sometimes gives you 7 runs back to back of the same map), but because of >>578671395 it is also very easy to get cut off.

Raven Rock is also the hardest map on the game right now regardless of difficulty, so unless you've got randoms willing to stick together and work in unison, you better figure out where the nearest early extract is; if you decide to stay, you'll be crossing the rubicon.
>>
>>578677170
nta, but that is probably the hardest part of the map with the 2nd being the dorm rooms heading to the director's office. There will be only 2 to 3 melee chads pushing and doing the objective.
>>
>>578677952
>hardest map
That makes sense. The lack of maneuver room on RR is definitely very rough. It's the map I make the most of use of all the explosives I like to carry around.

>>578678262
Yeah, it was especially bad there 'cause a couple people were fighting stuff outside the room and 2-3 were up on the third floor looting when we were supposed to be scanning. Didn't get to finish typing all that earlier 'cause my next match popped.
>There will be only 2 to 3 melee chads pushing and doing the objective.
I was hoping there'd be more melee enjoyers in Hard, but it seems about the same as normal so far after 3.5 games. Niggas enjoy shooting at every stray zombie they can. I'm at like 30 hours played, and the amount of proper melee balls I've been in could probably be counted on one hand.

Common bug, but can be fixed by adjusting your play. Which is to say skill issue, and only slightly tongue-in-cheek. It's a frustrating bug, but you can kinda play around it most of the time. It's just fucking cancerous because it really messes with your expectations and muscle memory.
NORMALLY the way this bug occurs, is because poxbursters have an increased pushable hitbox when they're targeting you. When they're not targeting you (even if you're the closest target) they sometimes (? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be consistent, or supposed to happen at all) don't have that hitbox increase, meaning you need to shove your face into their model before your push does anything.
That being said, I've also had instances where I pushed a poxburster 4 times as it just phased through me as if I didn't exist, but I'd sooner chalk that up to server lag than the game being broken.
>>
>>578685508
here's a much easier way to fix it
the uninstall wizard
>>
>>578685508
I just imagine that they have a sort of "push armor" that makes it take more pushes when they're not targeting me and that has pretty much gotten my expectations in line with how they behave.
>>
>>578688564
Yeah same pretty much. I try to hug them as close as possible and always assume I need two pushes.
>>
>>578685508
>I've also had instances where I pushed a poxburster 4 times as it just phased through me as if I didn't exist,
I've had the same happen. Poxbursters are just kinda retarded pieces of shit, and I hate anything that spams them at this point because they're so fucking dangerous on two fronts: inconsistency and retarded teammates who shoot them when they're near team members. Pure suffering in a buggy game packed with 60 IQ mongoloids.

I remember someone on youtube says it's more of your shove range increaes against jumping hound and burster rather their hitbox increases. Also just like block, shove and even somehow parry are 360 degree.
Yes, I understand scenario where disablers just ignore you, I've seen plenty of mutants and trappers ran last me to get someone else.
I think shoving bursters works fine now. It's abilities like shout, chorus, shriek and taunt aren't guaranteed. It may or may not has something to do with coding not make them immediately explode just like how they spawn dropping from above like some big hole in Gloriana Clandestine destroying ice after elevater going up or Hourclass destroying three Corrupters (one at ground level with medicae, two upstairs with spinning platform in the middle)
>>
>>578675073
That was before they nerfed horde density to let the game run on consoles.
>>
>>578690314
>Yes, I understand scenario where disablers just ignore you, I've seen plenty of mutants and trappers ran last me to get someone else.
It's not that they're ignoring you, it's that they are given a target to go after when they spawn, so the moment a mutant spawns it already knows who it's going after and it may not be you.
>>
>>578690314
>I think shoving bursters works fine now.
Nah it's still fucked.
>It's abilities like shout, chorus, shriek and taunt aren't guaranteed.
It's even worse. I've had bursters completely shrug two arbitrator flashbangs as if they hadn't even happened, while every enemy around them had a major seizure. They've been completely broken for several months now, the recent change just fucked them in a different way.

NTA but it's nebulous. On the one hand, I believe it, because I know posts like >>578675073 to be true. On the other hand, I have yet to see a singular shred of empirical evidence that this is actually the case. It's always been purely anecdotal claims, but nobody has even once pointed me toward a patch note or anything of the sort.

I only played the game really casually and was quite bad around the time it came out on console, and then massively lost interest once I hit the progression brick wall of gamble or get fucked, so I only came back after the second crafting overhaul that actually let you fully customize your blessings and shit. I don't think I played anything higher than damnation back then.
>>
>>578675073
me too, it was during the open beta before they fully released. Good times. Also Don't Stop Me Now was mathematically impossible to complete until they fixed it during the games full release. I tried with my buddies five different ways and realized you just couldn't reset the cooldown fast enough for what the requirements were. I think it was something like move 75 metres with bullrush in 20 seconds or something and they cut it down to 40.
>>
>>578691737

I only play difficulties lower than auric when I'm forced to, and the retarded newfags have either abandoned the game or learned vaguely how to play. It's largely mellowed out in auric. Skit release was the most retarded that I've seen Darktide players ever be, and not in the entertaining way like when scum came out.
>ive failed BASE heresy and damnation
Carrying heresy should be trivial on a level 20-ish character with crafted up max weapons. Damnation isn't that much harder either. Don't look toward teammates to carry you, it's your job to effectively solo the game with how stupid Darktards are. They always have been dumb as fuck. You simply need to play better.

You can only vaguely have any expectations of your teammates in maelstrom, and even those often have a revolving door of ASS-farmers leaving the instant they go down. Or havoc 30-40 (but closer to 40), as long as you avoid playing on slavgroid infested EU servers.
>>
>>578691958
I think you are right about this. I remember when I came back to Darktide when the first skill tree rework, Vet didnt even have keystones back then. Even the small escape to elevator section like refinery delta 17 could have armor packs like Crushers in mixed horde in Heresy, it was the moment I felt that was so bad when failing. Back then people could even camp doors in middle for mobs, not for mobs spawning two outer side doors now.
>>
>>578693000
>havoc 30-40 (but closer to 40
I'd definitely say like 35-40. I remember getting into a Havoc season late and being stuck in the low 30s for a while because it was full of useless retards that got carried through their 20 games. Dudes who couldn't even handle Plogryn aggro.
>>
>>578693254
Probably true, but I even get this shit in h40 on EU servers. I had one such game literally earlier today.
>be chorus bitch
>plague ogryn spawns
>wait for it to charge me

>push it into a wall, chorus
>scum is sucking on his thumbs fighting poxwalkers, the other two retards are off in the boonies doing fuck knows what
>the only damage the boss takes is from my bolt pistol bleed, for the entire duration of the chorus
>it takes these retards like half a minute to kill the thing
I was effectively solo on a fucking support class, I nearly tied the scum for damage, on the lowest damage class, mostly using the lowest damage weapon available.
>complain
>hear slavbabble in voice
>abandon the party
>switch to HK
>instantly win on the first attempt
>>
>>578691737
Elite and specialist enemies are way harder for computers to process than poxwalkers and they spawn in significantly higher numbers now than ever before
>>

>>
>>578694402
Hail Mary revives are a pretty common mistake to make, yes. You can only reliably pull those off in a shitty situation if you stack revive speed, or stamina curios with block efficiency (only works on curios/talents, not on your weapon), or by using an ability that stuns nearby enemies. It's either 1 or 2 revive speed curios that guarantee a safe unmolested revive after a shout-like ability, I forget the exact number.

You should learn to be more self-sufficient and build more selfishly. In general, build more defensively in your skill tree, and make sure your weapons are optimized for both damage and surviving. Skitarii are a good example, where the transphobic blades stack crit and attack speed as defensive stats because crits are your stunlock.

They are neither functionally autonomous nor sentient. The closest to autonomous you can get, is a smartly configured agentic system, but that still runs into context bloat, so you have to instruct it to write its own memories, which then in turn becomes an incestuous slopfest where its context drifts closer and closer toward the average of its outputs.
I'm not even sure GPTs are ever going to make it that far, the bottleneck is likely elsewhere. We'll either find out very soon, or hit a massive recession when the bubble pops. Either way it'll be life changing for many many people lmao.

did fatshark think expeditions would be a long term success? did they actually look at that generic desert map and think "people will play this for hundreds of hours"

i would have played more of it but for some idiotic reason they reset all my progress and made it so you have to grind to unlock all the nodes again, which im not doing, just let us quickplay into different modifiers and ill play it occasionally.

Probably at first I imagine it was something they started after Helldivers 2 exploded in popularity and by the time they realized it was shit they were too deep in the hole to cancel it and just half assed it to put something out before vacations.

Zealot laspistol seems like a shit-tier weapon at first glance, and it plays like one when you first start using it, but it's actually disgustingly good and an absolute thrill to use once you git gud as it's got a phenomenal draw time, fast run speed, and basically infinite ammo, letting you cruise around with it out while mindlessly popping stray poxniggers to your heart's content and only switching to melee for hordes or the occasional cheeky slash, compared to pretty much every other zealot weapon that has you keeping your melee weapon at the ready most of the time; my usual pairing is relic blade + laspistol as it covers all the bases for carrying. I used to run Catachan sword + laspistol, but as time has gone on the CS has become damn near unusable at higher difficulties; you can still make it work, of course, but you'll be thinking to yourself "man, I should have brought literally anything else" the entire time.

Greatsword, force sword, dclaw and shock maul are good
After that it depends on a difficulty. Everywhere below havoc 30 the strongest build is electro staff with surge blessing and scriers gaze. After that - any variation if inferno staff (shield or shriek).

Nothing nebulous about it. You can go back and watch youtube playthroughs from the pre-crossplay days and the hordes are visibly larger. Of course the patchnotes never said anything like "we made hordes smaller to accommodate consoles" because even Fatshark isn't dumb enough to deliberately shoot their own game in the cock like that.

Sticking around would be the proper thing to do, but when people become laser focused on something, they tend to prioritize or other things. Hell, not quite the same thing, but I remember one of my ASS attempts getting fucked by a leaver when I was the only one left, then got netted and downed so I figured that as long as I was still downed but not dead when we hit the fail screen I'd be fine, but then one of my teammates decided to leave, replacing him with a bot and now we had to wait for it to get downed, resulting in me dying.
>>
>>578729782

Melee chad reporting in. The loot goblin behavior you see in Hard makes the game less enjoyable than Normal sometimes. People are literally vacuum cleaners taking ammo for weapons they don't even have. Last night I dropped some bandages for a guy that had a very bloody name and some retard just divebombed and got the bandage instead even though his name had no blood on it.
This is my loadout. If I can find a sledgehammer or fire axe, that's pretty cool. Otherwise baseball bat works fine for hard. Zombies hit me for about 10% of my HP in hard with all these perks combined so I just zug my way to the objective. I long accepted some games there just won't be any weapons to pick up at all.

Maps like RR or Lewis boat escape can be real headaches on Hard, I find stacking damage resistance and HP skills invaluable.

Either they are still working on that big dlc with the new weapons, or Vermintide 2 might reach EOS soon.

He didn't say that, but he said they have more updates planned, and this was back in 2025 iirc.
Considering what the CEO of Fatshark said back in 2018, they had plans to support Vermintide 2 with new content for at least a decade.
Vermintide 2 as of March 2026 is 8 years old.

I like the wall shields way better too. A lot of the game consists of narrow corridors so you don't really need 360 degree protection, and having a hard counter against mutants and poxbursters is S tier as psyker.

Smokes are useless and you don't need them.
>>
>>578744353
Well since the argument is bubble vs smokes, you can extrapolate that to bubble being useless and you don't need it.
I don't entirely agree, smokes are quite comfy and make runs a lot more reliable, especially with weaker players that can't function without them. Even if I personally don't miss them. I learned to play havoc without any anti-shooter crutches on the first season. That shit was torture. Trial by fire, learn to slide spam or fucking die.
>>
>>578744515
>weaker players
Who shouldn't even be in H40 anyway.
>>
>>578744515
It's a bit extreme to even call it slide spam. You really just need to slide when you're closing gaps to ranged packs, the rest of the time you should just be next to walls and corners.
>>
>>578744908
I don't fully agree.
Individual player skill matters a fuckton less than builds+composition, and decision making. So, (knowledge + mental) > mechanical skill. You can more than make up for being mediocre at melee or dodging or whatever the fuck, by having good teamwork. This difference is best illustrated by comparing EU players to HK players. EU is a bunch of ego tripping retards who want to epicly solo carry a run and then cause a wipe by doing so. HK is full of painfully mediocre players who make mistakes and can't really clutch, but all function as a well-oiled machine and don't tilt under pressure like yurops commonly do.
I'd rather have a mediocre player who acknowledges his mediocrity and chooses to play an easy build, than a retarded slavgroid who explicitly skips the good team support node just to pull you back down into the crab bucket.

>>578744993
Yeah, but everyone who plays predominantly melee classes will have eventually found himself slightly out of position and surrounded by gunners on all sides, and the only way out is to time your slides so perfectly that not a single bullet connects. I mean that. Back in havoc season 1 where shooters hit something like twice as hard as they do now.
>>
>>578743971
>>578743706
I love the game but that seems kind of excessive. Wonder if this has something to do with the loss of their key members. New game probably isn’t even possible for the foreseeable future so just keep padding out the ones we already have with ‘content’.
>>
>>578745353
>Individual player skill matters a fuckton less
No, it matters a lot, the most actually. Dumbasses who can't dodge or fight hordes with their most used melee weapons do not contribute to the mission, they are just a resource drain who sometimes pulls aggro from you.
Weaker players do not belong in havoc.
If you can't dodge both melee and ranged enemies consistently 90% of the time and keep up with the team, then you do not belong in havoc 40, period. I'm sorry but it is true.
>>
>>578746829
The player you're describing never makes it past the EFL2 hurdle, anon. What I'm describing is just being good enough to survive as a team of 3. That weak player I mean is usually the bubblecuck psyssy, who plays the fair maiden in distress class so xe can have two strong melee chads protect xir, makes the occasional mistakes, and goes down some 3-4 times in a mission and likely dies once or twice, unless heavily babysat. I don't want to defend this kind of player, it's not fine to do this, but it is in fact normal, and it is not the end of the world in a decent team.
I am mostly bringing this up to illustrate just how massive of an impact having a good team composition makes. And no, this also isn't a matter of carrying that player. Bad as though such a psyker may be, they still mostly carry their own weight by virtue of dealing good enough damage. I really do mean the epitome of mediocrity. Barely good enough to maintain h40 by playing with teams that are loaded with crutches.

>individual skill matters the most
You must be one of those EU slavgroids with zero teamwork, or if you are actually good, play exclusively EU with said slavgroids, and have no choice but to express absolute mechanical mastery else you fucking die and wipe because your presence is physically required to carry the run.
That kind of mindset is retarded and unhealthy. Teams with specialists that rely on other classes to cover their weaknesses perform better than one hero god-player with an extremely egotistical build, with very few select exceptions (mostly on assassination missions that are indeed possible to completely solo).
