This lets Shiny Colors have its own 3DMVs EXTREMELY high level of customizability over outfits, hairstyles, makeup, and so on. That's the main reason most of us play it. Its story scenes were small, not as detailed as enza, and now they're reduced their output too. It's a supplementary game to enza in its current state, not a main game. You can know the origins of each character, read some great stories here too, but if you want proper story depth, you move to enza.Play SfP, if you like the characters, give enza a shot. If not, SfP is enough.
It's not like the actual tuition costs for Hatsuboshi are that high, they gave a number in GR and it was so low I actually wondered how the Fujitas struggled to pay that. But then again they had 4 kids.
