This is an industry thing, you’ve got companies like Square Enix talking about how there’s a “stigma” on turn-based, and since the turn of the decade basically every Japanese RPG company has steadily moved away from turn-based to where now I think Atlus and Dragon Quest are the very last holdouts. Even Pokemon is showing signs of moving away from it, with them having designated Pokemon Champions as their way of “preserving” the old style. There’s no way around it; turn-based JRPGs are dying and as someone who actually likes turn-based the lack of it was one of the biggest things that killed my interest in Unlimited. Once again I blame the west and Japan increasingly pandering to western consumers who think turn based is boring and shallow and outdated (journalists backing them up) and despite something like E33 winning awards the Japanese just do what the journalists and influencers tell them to do.
All REAL nep games were turn based. They can't seriously expect people to eat up action slop for a mainline game when we know the quality won't even compare to arpg gacha like genhsin and endfield.

Almost every single newbie Nepfag gets in through the Re;Births or maybe VII like me (it was all that was on Switch at the time aside from the worst spinoff in the franchise up to that point). Seeing what Compile Heart have been releasing lately I have come to realize they are trend chasers. Like Scar-Lead was obviously meant to capitalize on the roguelite trend, and Virtual Stars was a shameless attempt to crib from the VTuber crowd. And then they released their retro graphics shooter Top Neo when those were popular. Compile Heart seem to prefer to follow the lead of their bigger industry peers and like I just posted up there, motherfucking Square Enix themselves are saying don’t do turn-based, and sadly Compile Heart are clearly not interested in holding a niche.
It's really amusing that Falcom essentially stole the Rebirth/VII battle system for the newer Trails games (and while there is an action combat element it's just set dressing to make the player feel good, it's effective for beating down on grunt enemies only) and now the Sky remake is probably going to leg out to a million sales, with a huge Western portion of that. Compile Heart could have just stole the ideas Falcom implemented into Compa's system back in themselves.
