The conflict between self and world, political hierarchies, and the price of 'Salvation'. Instead you get clumsy lore dumps,undercooked intrigue, timeskips that scream the writer got edited down, and battles described over blank backgrounds with no fucking CGs, the main antagonist for this route? No fucking sprite for him. Kotarou's descent into whatever-the-fuckin zealotry and sin stays surface-level. Akane remains a witchy trope whose haf baked "insanity" exists only to justify the apocalypse and City of Stone exile. Romance is forced codependency bullshit to make Kotarou look stupid. Scope tries epic and ends hollow.It makes a mockery of Albert Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus. Any smoothbrained retards read that? Camus demands we confront the absurd which is a silent, indifferent universe and revolt by living fully without false transcendence. Rewrite answers the same questions with magic powers never explained, world-ending rituals, and a protagonist who rewrites reality then settles with the Holy Woman. Philosophical struggle replaced by power fantasy and Key effeminate feels. Absolute dogshit.

Maybe give yourself a little bit of a break before hopping to the game? I personally went through all 3 different media of Angel Beats! in about 3-4 months? I still enjoyed all of them, even though I was sure those who watched the anime years ago and then hopped to the game had x10 times the fun and emotions as me.
