It seems to me that LLMs are really, really strong and useful in some areas, while not so useful in other areas. The scope of how and where they are used is too vast to really give a definitive description, but so far I'd say that LLMs are extremely good at translation - they are, after all, large language models. It only follows that they would be good at manipulating fucking language. In other, less rigorous terms, LLMs are good at lying to and tricking the reader, and there is nothing more important in translation than kind of "lying" to the reader and "tricking" them into thinking they are reading the source text instead of a translation. LLMs are really good at making the average reader think they are reading the OG text, in contrast to old MTL which is always broken in the face of it and barely comprehensible. (Note: The average reader is something of a low bar, in that the average reader is not super literate or thoughtful about what they read.) I have also found they are very useful for code. I took some code classes in high school, but didn't go anywhere with it. I could do some minor functional projects but nothing too big. But then I experimentally tried out claude and was fucking stunned by how it could quickly parse bugs, spit out working code, yada yada. I ended up buying a Claude Pro subscription and I've made huge progress in some really important personal programming projects, which I never could have done before. I'm not really talking about enterprise level "have Claude code bank software" shit but it seems to me that LLMs can make shitty amateur programmers have the output of someone with like 10 more years experience than them. It's very remarkable to experience.

The thing is that the scene takes place with BG of a night sky, while the character is looking at the night sky during nighttime. So there is some contrast between "Days like this" and looking at night sky. If you envision the line as "nights like this" then it fits better. But it's not an important thing. After all, all 3 humans translated it as "day." I mentioned it in passing just as a note of something one could imagine as being a problem, as the writer of the TL comparison blog did.
