definitely a performance thing. msfs is ubiquitous, they want it to run on potatoes.
they should definitely leave this configurable in-game though and not require mods to upgrade them if your PC is capable enough

What plane is this? I'm shit at that era of jets as often you just have only the sorts of gauges and their orientation to go on.
>>
>>579112953
It's the T-38. It's really not too bad once you get used to it. For me the hardest thing about jets like this is that I always think landing speed should be slower than it is and get into panic thrust.

I know what you mean, the T-33 catches me off guard for that too as it feels like you're going far too fast, but no that's the approach speed.

F18's pretty cool

I'll admit that it didn't do much for me before but I think a lot of that is just down to the default livery being kind of lame. All grey looks terrible.

Given most players only see them at a distance they probably just put stock car model assets through the decimate filter in Blender with a really low ratio set.

Are the drop tanks physical objects in X Plane? If you jettison them inverted do they kill you? Asking for a friend who definitely doesn't want to use them as weapons.

They are weapon objects .wpn and the reason I can't change their textures but every module I have treats them as intangible afaik. The weapon physics aspect of Xplane is pretty barren.

Did some racing. ACC, AMS2, ACEvo and... Raceroom. I find the last one the most enjoyable. Maybe because the FFB feels as smooth as with a Direct Drive wheel on my T300. There's none of that middle dead-zone, resistance is progressive and all the road details and curbs feel rubbery and bouncy, rather than jittery. I also like that's it's an old engine, proper anti-aliasing, good lighting, to make up for lack of fancy shaders and the cars look very detailed.

>>579309669
I'll admit the logistics aspect is really tempting, having to micro shunting all the time makes it the both strongest and weakest point,
like the challenge to optimize shunting maneuvers, the AI helps it make it a bit less tedious, but having to do everything at real time makes it a huge time sinker,
also it would help to have a bit more quality of life, having to manually dis/connect the hoses with each attachment all the time makes it hands on even with the AI on control
>>
Just for reference, we know Derail Valley is more targeted towards the sim side, but even then it kinda does third person view better,
even if it doesn't have autopilot, the outer UI is really well done, with everything you need a finger a touch, including de/coupling and etc

are there any useful guides for that?
i just wanna dick around in the Alouette or some small Piper Cub-esque planes
>>
>>579312289
The control setup is much better than 2020, you can save profiles per plane, but it's still a pain in the arse to set up initially. The 360 controller works really well with the game already. Just to warn you Taog's Alouette hasn't been updated for 2024 and the physics are not the best, it seems to lack translational lift, or at least the last time I checked it in 2024 it didn't.

More racist stuff.

Tried the new ACEvo patch yesterday. Jesus what a turd this is. FFB is weird with all sorts of effects I have no idea what they indicate or why they are there. I tried the new Rx 7. It drives like shit oversteery on the throttle initally and then understeer hell once you start to slide and control it. Sound is also weird. I also really hate the graphics.
ACC was bad, but only because of the way UE handles aliasing, so everything is a bit blurry, but it looked great in certain condition.
Evo on the other hand looks cartoony, like worse than the original AC. Trees look like ass and have major pop-in issue. I don't get it, racing sims had at least trees figured out ages ago - flat textures made in a way that felt photorealistic. Now it looks like cotton-candy. The cherry on the cake is the setups though. I was trying to compare how it handles vs other sims, so I took a GT3 911 Rennsport car (supposedly faster version) and did a lap at Watkins Glen. Been driving this in AMS2 and Raceroom a lot, so I can do pretty a decent lap time there (1:49ish on a good day). To my surprise this faster version was like 5-6 seconds slower. I decided to investigate the setup and my jaw dropped. Suspension values are like maxed out. It's like 30000N/mm or something, shocks are set to the same values all across. Standard spring rate settings for a 911 in other sims are around 200N/mm. I'm guessing the setup menu is a placeholder maybe, but how the fuck can anyone claim this game is realistic. It's ugly, undercooked and drives like Need for Speed Shift.

On the flip side, I fucked up my downshifts on corner entry in 60's F1 car in AMS2 today and blew my engine. Anyone claiming this is simcade and then sucking off a Kunos game is an idiot.
Pic-rel is 911 GTE on Laguna, nothing is burning, just locked up my tyre and exhaust flames happend at the same time.
