Massive upgrade over SvS and GMR from everything I've heard and seen from others so far. It's fun. Biggest issues are the early and late fuckhuge difficulty spikes and the potential for cheese (juggling, stunlocking, step dash cancel tomfoolery) even if it's nowhere near as gamebreaking as in those games. Biggest positive is the game actually being nice to play from the very beginning.

For Uzume they were talking about being able to basically wish something into existence. There's a choice for Neptune to mention she's seen something like that before or just not bring it up at all.

I think you’re exaggerating Uni’s role in getting the Re;Births banned from Switch in the west. It was probably a whole host of things that Nintendo objected to, which would be why IFI opted to cancel the whole release and eat the loss because there was just no way to release any game in the trilogy in a form that would be suitable for selling. Nintendo’s standards are so asinine now that they literally measure characters skulls and will ban games if they look “too childlike”, as shown with Brave X Junction, Menhera Farm and Kamikaze Lassplanes, all of which showed that just about ANYTHING remotely risqué in the trilogy could have set Nintendo off, from the CGs, the skill animations with pantsu angles, the swimsuits, Iris Heart’s antics, and even just possibly Neptune herself. Uni and her skimpy processor was likely just a small factor in what led to the bans; what really makes it seem like it was just impossible was the fact that even Re;Birth 1, which has no real ecchi CGs aside from Compa’s bandages and no Trick or Iris Heart (except as a bonus character) STILL couldn’t make the cut. If they could have sold any one of these games that they could they almost certainly would have rather than just kill the whole trilogy and make it a total loss, but the fact that they did that tells me there were just so many things Nintendo demanded to be changed or removed from every single game in the trilogy that IFI ultimately decided the whole thing was a bust.
Compile Heart really ought to just ditch Nintendo, but because these companies are constantly going back and forth on what they will allow and who’s censoring the most/least at the moment, devs are almost universally just taking the path of least resistance and censoring to the lowest common denominator.

I genuinely prefer the Re;Births and VII’s UI to this. Here there’s way too much empty space, distracting animations, text too small, important parts all over the place, stuff constantly moving around, etc. It’s a lot more busy and confusing than the older, simple UI with a model viewer to see your weapon and costumes. Again, “modern” is not good, because modern games suck ass and you shouldn’t strive to be like them.

Some designs are covered up compared to previous ones, the only visible skin on Blanc is now her shoulders for example and I will always be upset at this even if her covering up makes sense. Ram/Rom default processors are the same, just exposed shoulders.

Pre-censorship, self-censorship, whatever you may call it, but all the designs are more conservative now (you can especially tell with the lolis and loli-adjacents like Uni that they were deathly afraid of showing any amount of skin on them in a way that might be seen as sexualizing), there are no fanservice CGs or skills, and even swimsuits seem to be gone after Nintendo censored them in Riders. Granted, this is just par for the course for any Compile Heart game made after 2019/2020; SvS and GMRE were mostly the same aside from having the old HDD outfits instead of these toned down redesigns.
As long as even one of the major platforms is censoring you’re never going to get the old Compile Heart back. Even though PlayStation is okay with Re;Birth/VII-level fanservice now, Nintendo suddenly isn’t and Compile Heart clearly want to sell their games on the western Switch eshops and will make any changes they feel is necessary for that. In fact their current president straight up said a couple years ago that they make all their games with the intention of selling them in the west from the start, so self-censorship is official policy at CH and they are absolutely not going to include anything that might compromise a western release on any platform.
Given all this, if this is a big deal for you, then you may as well give up Compile Heart and look for another series or company for your cute girls JRPG with fanservice. Good luck, though, because unless you’re willing to go to gacha trash almost every Jap company is self-censoring to at least some degree, it’s just what happens when the price of not doing so is Sony/Nintendo/Steam calling your game horrible child porn, pulling the rug out from under you and destroying your ability to make any profit.

There’s a moral panic going on and while some people like to call it the next Satanic Panic, it has a key difference; the Satanic Panic, along with the other panics in the 80s and 90s, was driven primarily by old, crusty boomers and soccer moms who the younger generation were all too happy to tell to fuck off the moment they got a chance; this was the last era of real counterculture like heavy metal which existed basically to be one gigantic middle finger to the sentiments of the time.
However, this moral panic has the youth’s full participation. When you get hounded on social media for liking “diddy blud anime”, it is ALWAYS a zoomer or later millennial. The most rabid anti porn elements in both American political parties are now the younger members and not the boomers. Because of this, the idea that this will just blow over like the panics of old did is naive; it’s just going to get worse as these people enter more positions of power.

B is more likely than A, but unfortunately not by much. Japan is an island nation that is largely dependent on imports and foreign investment. Their economy had been declining since the 90s, but COVID really pushed them straight into the shitter. At the same time, the west was looking better than ever as a market with anime’s foreign income surpassing its domestic income for the first time ever. Hence why everything is made for the west now. It doesn’t help that much of what remains of the domestic market has been chewed up by gacha. I’m sure the Japanese would be more inclined to make ecchi games for their market if every time they did the Famitsu sales didn’t say 3.5k now when a decade ago they said 50k like with Moero Chronicle on Vita (which had an Asia English release to get some western sales as well). It would also help if they stopped having bitches like loocalizers and consultants in their ears telling them do stupid things like black voids, “ethics” compliant swimsuits like in Final Fantasy, and putting ugly brown and gay people in their games to pay tribute to muh diversity, but again, those are just a symptom of a larger problem which is that Japanese devs feel they NEED the west and are willing to trust whoever calls themselves an expert on selling to the western market. Maybe if Japan’s economy improved a market would open back up for strictly or primarily Japanese games, but as long as their economy and geopolitical position is what it is, Japan really can’t afford to tell the west no.

Japan still has a good market with huge hits that are selling without the west, it's just the otaku sector that's no longer viable for console development.
It's still possible for Compile Heart to make a big seller in Japan, but it's not gonna be in the form most people here would appreciate. You can probably expect Compile Heart to rip one of these off though. Hell, their old president is working for the first one's studio now.
