This doesn't feel like goodbye to just this server. For me, this feels like a goodbye to WoW completely. I've played this game on and off for 20+ years. In a weird way it's always been a second home.But I don't know now... Retail is not for me, classic is pretty boring at this point, Classic+ is almost certainly going to be a nothing-burger. I just have this overwhelming feeling that this is the end.So I've just spent the last couple days riding around in the open world, having as many little interactions with as many people as I can. I have vivid memories everywhere here, almost every single zone. I remember I gave this random guy in a cave in felwood some gold and consumables once and he added me. Every couple times he leveled i would find him and give him some new gear. One day he'd be fishing on a wreck off STV, another day I'd find him completely lost in a new zone that was way too high level. It became this small thing I looked forward to. One day after a few weeks of this I found him in a cave questing with another guy and he so excitedly was like "OH THIS IS MY GOOD FRIEND X!" and my heart just swelled. And we all hung out in the cave just chatting, not worried about quests or loot or much of anything. Such a small trivial thing that I still remember decades later.All memories of people if I'm being honest. Gosh the people... You get so close so fast spending so much time together. There are people I played with in Vanilla I still think about sometimes. We spent years together and then just drifted. I can see it happening with our guild on ascension now. People aren't logging in, the guild chat is empty, people I talked with every day for months... I'll probably just never speak with again.I dunno what the point of this post is. I feel silly being so emotional over a game, but if I'm honest with myself it feels like grief. Like loss. I'm just sad man. Do me a favour and be kind in your interactions for the last week.

I felt the same way when Nostalrius shut down and now Turtle WoW. when playing private servers, you have to remember none of this lasts forever. Technically Retail and Classic Era won't last forever either, but it will last longer. Keep screenshots of all of the good memories and look back on them fondly. But you have to learn to keep a certain level of distance between you and the private servers you play on. When Ascension announced it's shut down, sure it sucked and now I have to find some other private server to fill the void, but we all knew it was coming eventually. And it helps after so many other servers I have enjoyed playing on went down in the past.

Ok current status on the Dutch event. We're stalling at about 53k-54k. Everything seems to be killed already. Just people clearing out stragglers now.The going theory is that the number is just a machine-generated count of all unique spawns in the world, but CoA isn't really Vanilla. It's WOTLK with the TBC and Northrend zones blocked from access, so it's very possible this number includes mobs in the expansion areas as well, especially considering they're included on the world map. A ticket is open to get clarification on this.
