The issue with card description is that it's often sort of a mini puzzle that you need to put together. Often figuratively, but sometimes literally too (sham naqua stuff for instance).

That might not be everyone's cup of tea. Some people would prefer to have the actual story in novel like you said or as a story arc ingame.

ever since blossoming the card descriptions haven't been too hard to put together since they're literally labeled 1 through X, so its an easy to follow story. I liked how this set gave the enforcer perspective to contrast the convict one, but still, a full novel describing everything would have been cool. I feel like they're saving the novels for their oc sets (anathema bein an exception since it was before they came up with the idea) so we'll probably get another one for the inevitable ward set. the story there lends itself nicely to a novel anyways since its quite simple
