>What the heck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as Age of Decadence, A Hat in Time, Axiom Verge, Baba Is You, Battle Brothers, Battlerite, Card City Nights 2, Cave Story, CrossCode, Cultist Simulator, Darkwood, DashBored, Dead Cells, The Desolate Hope, Disco Elysium, Environmental Station Alpha, FTL, Guacamelee!, Hollow Knight, Knytt, LISA, Lobotomy Corp, Machinarium, Middens, Monolith, Monster Train, Noita, OFF, OneShot, Rimworld, Rain World, Slap City, Slay the Spire, Starsector, Subnautica, Sunless Skies, Tooth and Tail, Underrail, VA-11 HALL-A, Yume Nikki, etc., as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Pillars of Eternity, Rayman, and Valkyria Chronicles. /jrpg/ is welcome. Idle games are cool too.

Mobile or consoles, Flash or Unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads, however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

In the end it turns out that modded Zomboid is the only game that comes close to scratching my "Being in a safe base while the outside is dangerous" survival game itch. It helps that I found mods that add the ability to read ebooks in-game as well as the ability to listen to music in game.

There was also a mod allowing you to watch movies in-game but I didn't download that one.

just did phantom battery in iron nest. i was so fucking confused because the game said to kill spotters to buy time but i literally was not finding any, and the listening posts don't do anything beyond giving you vague (wrong) positions on the phantom battery. eventually i looked it up because i was wondering if the mission was bugged and ended up just following a walkthrough/cheese guide to beat it. turns out i was just getting super unlucky because in the cheese run i did i ended up locating 2 spotters with the starting photography. what an awful fucking mission. i don't feel bad about cheesing it at all

Don't feel bad, Iron Nest relies a bit on RNG and luck.

Soulmask on sale, plus big Goa'uld content update for the second world map.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2646460/Soulmask/

I also recommend:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/780310/The_Riftbreaker/
With all its DLCs. They are all worth it. And there's an overhaul mod that is more fun if you want more basebuilding.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1928980/Nightingale/
Killed before it had a chance. But for 8€ it is well worth the price to support the devs(and Conan Exiles), who knows, maybe the polski devs will revive it.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1898300/ASKA/
Viking fantasy village building and managing. Has a good chunk of content.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1149460/ICARUS/
I have shilled this game more times than I can remember. Out of all the DLCs, only 3 have actual new maps with content to play, one is just special end game bosses for those maps. And the rest are just very small maps to buildfag pretty things and furniture and re-skined pets to buildfag with.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/815370/Green_Hell/
Hard as hell. But fun is you are into CBT.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1640820/Chinese_Frontiers/
Another polski gem. Just building chinkstuff in medieval china. Very chill and actually comfy(hate how low effort niggers call everything "comfy" now).

https://store.steampowered.com/app/979110/Space_Haven/
Doesn't have much content, but the idea and execution is solid. And for 15€ + possibility of mods, it is well worth the caps.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2001070/Heart_of_the_Machine/
Extremely well written game, with an actually innovative setting and premise. With a retarded level of outcomes.
I highly highly recommend it if you want good writing and like sci-fi stuff.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1766060/HumanitZ/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/427410/Abiotic_Factor/
What a fucking huge gem we got with this one.
It's black comedy HL1 with base building, good creative combat from a sci-fi perspective from the 90's(actually from the year I was born). And with a magnificent set of humorous cast of scientists, with all their tropes.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2541530/AETHUS/
Rather lineal game, as open worlds can be. The MC is a tad annoying the "humour" may be painful some times. But the rest of the game is solid.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/846770/DYSMANTLE/
Very simple game, in which what you do basically is destroy objects, to get materials, to make tools to be able to destroy other objects. The combat is very basic and the plot is almost non existent. But for turning your brain off it's entertaining.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1601570/The_Alters/
Still playing it. But so far it has a very solid near-sci fi setting. And the plot is very well written, with gorgeous tech designs.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1702010/Sengoku_Dynasty/
Very fun weeb game. The survival aspect is not very hard, but the buildfagging is awesome if you like the Sengoku Jidai setting.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1129580/Medieval_Dynasty/
Made by a different studio than the Sengoku one but with same publisher. It is harder to survive the first few in-game years. And the village management is ass. But it does scratch that itch of being the village chief of a small backwater village, in bumfuck nowhere during medieval Europe.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1326470/Sons_Of_The_Forest/
Kinda hard spooky game. It has some BS moments, but the raw modern setting is very nice, and the mechanics in general feel great to play.

This looks fun. How detailed is the artillery calculation? My frame of reference is using range cards and dumb maps to manually calculate trajectories for artillery in mil sims, including accounting for differences in elevation and the slope of terrain at the target.
>>
>>579482585
You only account for distance and how many charges you load the shell with.
There is no wind. All targets are effectively on the same elevation as you but you're usually firing at such angles and your weapon so large that elevation differences probably wouldn't matter anyway.
All shells have identical flight characteristics, they will all travel the exact same distance in the exact same time if loaded with equal charges.
Calculating the distance the shell will travel is a simple formula of distanceXcharges, this can be done in your head but you can also use the ballistic computer to calculate it for you.
Not all targets are static, this can make shots time sensitive and the speed of the shell an important factor. More charges increase maximum range of a shell but also increase the speed at which the shell travels.

>Skate Story – I feel like I should like skateboarding games more than I do. Same as Denshattack I could tell immediately that this was well-crafted and interesting but also wholly incapable of holding my interest. That being said, this sort of pseudo-philosophical poetic-in-a-college-freshman-way style of writing wore out my welcome a decade ago (I blame The Talos Principle but I could probably blame Braid if I really tried) with the end result feeling less ‘psychopomp’ and more ‘psychotically pompous’. Very pretty though.
>>
>>579492715
A psychopomp is death's helper, y'know. They bring souls to the Underworld.
>>
>>579492820
Yes, that's deliberate allusion. Skate Story is about the afterlife.
>>
>>579492972

>>
>Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara – Indie devs making a platformer need to come to grips with the fact the order of operations is “make a good video game” and THEN “cater to speedrunners”. I don’t care if your game has ‘tech’ if your game is also frustrating to play and uninteresting to explore for anyone that hasn’t already memorized the level layout. I was hoping this would be a cute little Wind Waker clone like Zefyr: A Thief's Melody but instead it’s a level-based time trial collectathon that’s worse on basically every axis than something like Frogun, Lunistice, or Bombun, and all of those I also fell off because of the obsession with the level being fun the tenth time even if it was shit the first go-around. Also the cringe-inducing story only makes sense if you played their farming/exploration game with the same character. I think the version of this I actually wanted was Tchia.
>>
>Beast of Reincarnation – I hope somewhere an academic has actually studied exactly what’s going on at Game Freak such that they have 30 years of Pokemon money and yet their nuts and bolts video game development is profoundly mediocre. Beast of Reincarnation doesn’t have the same uncanny valley as Giga Wrecker using distractingly similar sound design and fonts, but it does have a large unexplained magic dog that follows you around and has a small list of commands to aid you in fights. Most of the game seems like fairly bog-standard action ARPG mechanics, to a degree I actually felt like it behooved me to explore the genre more to get a sense for what aspects of the design were actual decisions rather than genre conventions. It didn’t help the combat was the only thing to do but was wonky to the point it felt like I was punished defensively for parrying rather than blocking. I did like the use of verticality in level design given you start with a 30-foot vine double jump that rockets you upwards on a platform, but there were so many invisible walls and strange impediments that it didn’t feel like the game environment was actually built for the player character.
>>
>>579466767
i did. it was decent but it was too hard for me / i am too bad for it.
>>
>>579492715
I like the writing in The Talos Principle a lot.
Having a game centered around a post death of humankind setting being so optimistic is kind of a breath of fresh air. There's a real innocence to the characters and a reverence for the humans that came before. I think it's quite unique.
>>
Okay, I finally have it out of my system for now. For a playtest there's a ton of content, it's basically a full game content wise just with only a few starting professions and the ending hasn't been implemented yet. I'm looking forward to the demo in less than two weeks.

My issue with it is mostly that one of my degrees is in Philosophy, and so the semantic traps and loaded questions that were used to make the computer terminal conversations work were frustrating. I do agree that the tone and the ability for humanity to persist without humans is refreshing but the Philosophy 201 rhetoric pissed in my cheerios. I found 2 a lot more palatable.

>Maseylia: Echoes of the Past – There’s something charmingly brazen about a certain flavor of pastiche, where a game’s philosophical pedigree isn’t so much obvious as stupefyingly blatant. I blame reading too many sprite webcomics in middle school. Getting the right balance of ‘yes I’m ripping them off, no this isn’t about that’ is a difficult needle to thread with one side being Palworld and its Newgrounds-tier PIKACHU SLAVERY WITH GUNZZZZ, and on the other being something like Briar Flame, a Hollow Knight knockoff that I’d be shocked if it sold 20 copies. I’m not sure where Maseylia falls because on the one hand it hasn’t so much stolen Sable’s aesthetic as it is attempting to squat in Sable’s apartment until they establish tenant’s rights, but on the other Sable still absolutely blows it out of the water on every axis and it’s not like Sable wasn’t cribbing notes from Moebius left right and center. Aesthetics aside a 3D platformer is a tough sell when your jump has godawful momentum and your level design makes it impossible to tell where the ground is.
>>
>>579519468
>the semantic traps and loaded questions that were used to make the computer terminal conversations work were frustrating
I thought that was the point. That the librarian, or whatever his name is, was just a shitposter and the player is a newborn ai who doesn't understand philosophy enough come up with proper arguments.
>>
>>579523346
Oh certainly, but intentionally annoying is still annoying.
>>
>Voltage High Society – This game is frustratingly close to being something special but it’s hard to tell what’s intentional jank and what’s just sloppy. I thought the map was garbage to lean into the atmosphere of confusion in the maze of concrete, but the 2.0 update is coming with an actual location indicator. I thought that there was a layer of esoteric secrets that I’d managed to miss, turns out a fair number of them are fully disabled at the moment because they’re broken. If nothing else it’s still very much in my wheelhouse to be in a fucked up murderpit punching people for a few hours. The game fell apart in some of the boss fights and I’m not surprised only 3% of players beat the final boss, but in terms of unique atmosphere and willingness to be itself it was more than worth the price of admission.

So long as you don't mind grinding, you'll be fine. The two big issues with Dragonwilds that I can see are:
>no cart or carrier option to move a lot of stuff at once,
>no way to quickly dump all your inventory into chests like Enshrouded does (you still have quick stack and thankfully there's not that much stuff to organize, but you'll still want a few different chests)
Thankfully, devs have added options to make chests freely accessible so long that you're around, so none of looking for that one fucking acorn to complete that magical suit of armor.

Started playing Disco Elysium recently. I'm a bit torn on the writing. It ranges from engaging and entertaining to cumbersome and preachy. I like most of the characters and the setting is interesting, yet the more fantastical elements of the world don't interest me. Talking with people like Evrart or the myriad of side characters is fun, but conversations about the pale make my eyes glaze over.
The detective work is interesting, arguing with people about political philosophy not so much.
Nevertheless, still enjoying the game at the moment and I'll probably finish at least one play through.
>>
>>579529641
I've been meaning to play it for years and don't doubt I'd enjoy it, but I also struggle to get heavily invested in games purely on the strength of their writing. I try playing stuff like Kentucky Route Zero or Citizen Sleeper and I'm bored to tears even though I can see the craftsmanship.

>Adventure of Samsara – There’s a hard cap on how long I can go without spending time and money on a dogshit metroidvania and boy howdy am I back to the well with this one. A spiritual remake/sequel/homage of the 1980 game Adventure for the Atari 2600, I’m reminded strongly of Beyond the Ice Palace 2 where the legacy pedigree causes them to chase a SNES-era stiffness and imprecision that’s not really palatable. The real killer was that ledge-grabbing was holding RT and that would frequently buffer a dash on landing which lead to multiple deaths when precision platforming. It’s rare for something to be so bereft of redeeming qualities that I go for a full return rather than just dropping the game, but this was one of the rare few that fell that low. Also it came out the same day as Silksong, which really just shows the absurd gulf that exists.

Played some Skyrim and AC Odyssey back-to-back and it got me thinking about how they do their open worlds.
AC is notoriously Too Fucking Huge, with a massive amount of repeated content and POIs evenly spaced 200-400 meters from another one.
Skyrim was also big for its time (though far smaller compared to modern games) with a lot of samey dungeons, but still much more variety than Oblivion's godawful dungeons, and you can't go 15 feet without tripping over three of them.
AC's quests are either randomly-generated garbage, or complete nothingburgers that are finished accidentally just by doing locations normally.
Skyrim also has random-gen garbage, but its dungeon quests are usually either right outside the front door, or the dungeon is locked until you get the quest.
AC has random animals attacking you as you walk that turns into a 5 minute brawl.
Skyrim also has random animals attacking you, but is over in 10 seconds, and you get loot out of it.
90% of AC's quests are 'go here, stab guy, loot thing, come back', with the only difference being how many guys to stab and whether they're wearing blue, red, or black.
90% of Skyrim's quests are 'go here, stab guy, loot thing, come back', but gives you half a dozen somewhat distinct flavors of guy to stab
In AC, what you see is what you get. A fort is a fort. A camp is a camp.
In Skyrim, a camp is sometimes a mine, a fort is sometimes a vampire den, and a tomb is sometimes fucking Blackreach again.
In AC, everyone looks the same, oftentimes literally.
In Skyrim, sometimes there's lizards with fat tits.

>game looks like a game for children
Kids must be based AF in your're are country if they can read.
>>
>>579554014
I wouldn't say they're particularly similar. Adventure of Samsara is a pretty traditional metroidvania; explore area, fight boss, find new tool, explore more of area using tool to get to areas that were locked off, find some secret items, repeat. It's not a good game, but it's fairly by-the-numbers in that niche. Dead Cells also has a lot of those trappings but is a roguelike with linear progression, so no backtracking within a run and an expectation that you areas are mutually exclusive. Dead Cells is easily the better game though.

>Winds of Arcana: Ruination – If I was going to make a bottom 5 of all the metroidvanias I’ve played this might have a fighting chance. On its face it’s already an uphill battle for being a direct-to-VHS version of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown; movement, combat, art, level design, writing, music… all of them are similar but drastically worse. There were the small annoyances like platforms at a perfect height that a jump and air dash would slam my ankles into them and fail to mantle. There were the medium annoyances like the only map pins being screenshots of the room (also stolen from The Lost Crown) with a dedicated button that could’ve been used for anything I’d need at short notice. What killed the game for me was thinking I’d found a hidden path by dashing at the wall above a one-way breakable door and bypassing it, only to realize that instead I had gone into an area that expected several more mobility tools than I had and getting stuck in a pit. I’ll play through dross if it’s earnest, Tales of Kenzera™: ZAU was heartfelt enough to make me replay the first two hours after it trapped me in gay baby jail. This had absolutely nothing to earn that level of goodwill, and much like Maseylia if you’re a mediocre clone of an original and masterfully executed game you deserve derision.

what is your process of buying games? a lot of these have lukewarm ratings on steam
>>
>>579581086
Most months I play 10+ new games. In 2023 I played 125 games. In 2024, 145 games. In 2025, 194 games. 2026 so far is 102. A very small number of those are replays, and I tend to only note the first time I play a game especially for things like roguelikes or puzzle games that might last me months. The end result is that most good shit in the genres that interest me is tilled ground.

But, I also intentionally look for niche stuff. I buy bundles, I buy random shit that's $2, I buy things that catch my eye. I know roughly how I feel about Mina the Hollower and what it'd be like to play, so I'm less interested than I am in something like MAHOUTEQ! or Dinoblade where I have no idea how that'll treat me. That hunt for variety and interesting concepts means I might spend 5-10 hours on a mediocre metroidvania and have nothing to show for it than an appreciation for a novel way to structure a skill tree, but I also find things like Zexion or Master Key that I've absolutely adored. My tastes, my jank tolerance, and my breadth of exposure is wildly outside the norm for the average steam player so if a game catches my eye and doesn't seem utterly dysfunctional I'm inclined to give it a shot regardless of reviews.

>>
>>579586563
My boring answer would probably be the generic staples of Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, Hollow Knight, Silksong, and Nine Sols. Maybe Ori 1 over Metroid Prime depending on the day. That's not particularly informative, but they really are in their own echelon of quality. I'll also readily admit that despite playing several of them I'm not really a fan of the Igavania style, primarily because of map design but also because I feel like RPG progression undermines the exploration and value of discovering tools.

So if I was going to give a top 5, I'd slant it towards things I personally go to bat for and like more than the average, rather than just pointing to things that are generally understood to be high quality.

>Vision Soft Reset
Brilliant 4D metroidvania where you have to cultivate your own branching timeline, freely choosing when to fork and when to rewind. Some upgrades travel through time, some you have to decide "when" you want to get them. I never actually beat it because one of the bosses was horseshit, I need to give it another go.

>Cosmobreeder Yiffai
Yes it's a furfag game. Yes it's called fucking "Cosmobreeder". But fuck me the map is stellar, the secrets are interesting and varied, and it's the only metroidvania I've seen to steal the MGS codec system despite the fact it's a perfect fit for a genre that's both supposed to feel isolated but lore dense. It's like Samus' scan visor but with more personality and worldbuilding.

>Zexion
Phenomenal Metroid clone. Awesome guns, brilliant map, incredibly nonlinear and satisfying to explore. I did some absolute horseshit that was only possible because of the amount of Super Metroid rando I've done to practice wall jumps (though unlike A Robot Named Fight it doesn't actually steal the spinning jump shit)

cont.
>>
>>579588304
>Xanthiom Zero/Side Scape
I'm counting this as one because they're related projects by the same guy and both very short. One is all-in on gun customization with a half-dozen slots on your gun to tweak its firing pattern, and the brisk 4-hour pace makes it feel punchy. Side Scape is an incredible blend of metroidvania and zelda clone, letting you flip freely between exploring the same screens as sidescrolling or isometric 2D. Incredible puzzles as a result.

>Shadowman Remastered
I have no idea how this isn't considered the grandfather of Metroid Prime. The tank controls take getting used to but there is so much uniqueness to the game's structure and overall flow. It starts by giving you a book of prophecy that literally shows you the entire world map and all the game's events, and you find a codex written by the antagonist describing most of their plans and the solutions to many of their puzzles, but rather than feeling linear or prescribed as a result it feels incredibly atmospheric and with a dreamlike sense of inevitability. The dungeons are also top notch, some better than others, but genuinely phenomenal especially for the time (even if some are reconstructed from original dev notes and new to the remaster).

Some other uncommon names that don't make the cut but had something about them I adored are Tomomi, Ato, After Death, Bladechimera, Plague of Yamorn, Thread, Insect Adventure, Vernal Edge, and Angel's Gear. Happy to gush about any of them.
>>
>>579588453
Thanks for the response. Some of those at the bottom look pretty cool. Bought a couple and wishlisted the rest. They remastered Shadowman? Holy shit. I haven't thought about that game in years. Instant buy. That game had serious style.
>>
>>579589556
It's so cool. Easily the best remaster I've ever heard of because they did the thing you'd always hope for of fix a bunch of bugs, make it load twice as fast, add back all the scoped and planned content that had to be cut for budget the first time, but then didn't fuck with it.
>>
>>579591229
I played it having never heard of the original. Personally I found the high-res textures on those fuckass character models to be really damn ugly, but that could be turned off and the rest of the game was pretty good. I should probably finish it one day.

>Asura’s Wrath – My friend surprised me with a hacked 360 and this was one of the games loaded. As a gibbering moron who really likes punching, it’s been one of those games like God Hand that I know I should play and have just never got around to emulating. Now that I’m here I’m bewildered. This game is desperate to be some 7/10 2010s shonen but also wants to answer the question of what God of War 3 would be like if it was trying to be pure spectacle without any of that pesky “gameplay”. I get the sense that much like Killer 7 no matter how I end up feeling about the game it’s structurally and tonally unique enough to be worth my time, and goddamn do the best parts feel great even if they are ultimately buttonmashing between QTE cutscenes.

I'm playing "Yet another Zombie Survivors", It's okay survivorslop. But I'm a bit confused on the weapons. so you have 2 weapons in tier1, but it's actually one weapon you upgrade into the other. Tier 2 has also 2 weapons, but here you pick one of the two and get locked out of the other. Tier 3, you get one weapon again, but it's not an upgrade to the tier 2 weapons, but rather another option on the same level as the tier 2 weapons.
This is not super difficult to grasp, but it seems needlessly convoluted. And also normally if you have a skill tree, shit like this is denoted by arrows leading from one weapon to the other.
So what, do I just always put my points into the last tier weapon assuming that one's the best, just because it's further down the skilltree?

That's where you're wrong. The location on the "skill tree" doesn't correspond to tiers.
The starter weapon is tier 1.
The weapon it upgrades into, which is also in the same section of the skill tree, is tier 2.
Then you unlock 2 more weapons at the second part of the skill tree, and 1 more at the 3rd part. All 3 of these are tier 3. Sidegrades depending on your build.

What I do not know though is whether tier 1 and 2 meta upgrades feed into tier 3.

It's weird to have an "enhanced" edition that makes the game worse.
One interesting thing I've noticed is that the stars now move at night. Previously, the skybox was static and just the moon was moving, which was trippy. The moon's still faster than the stars for some reason.

>is Hitman /indie/?
It doesn't have its own general, so it's allowed.
There used be some blogposters playing the game here including me, but I stopped playing when I reached the Hitman 3 sections. I should get back to it sometime.

...because the moon is a lot, lot closer??? What the fuck kind of remark is that?

In the real world, both the stars and the Moon "move" because of Earth's rotation. It's an illusion. The Moon does circle the Earth, so it would slowly move relative to the stars, but the orbital period is about one month. It wouldn't be visible over a single night.
Maybe the game adopts Tolkien's idea that Earth used to be flat, and God later turned it into a sphere to stop men from trying to invade Paradise.

Any Atelier gamers online? I'm playing through the Arland trilogy because that's the absolute earliest anyone seems to recommend starting with (plus Rorona has been on my backlog since
2009). Haflish way through Meruru and I'm absolutely enamored with the series. Is it a bad idea to go back to the start and play from the first game? Are they even available in English?
>>
>>579613590
I'm not really in the know about it, so feel free to correct me, but I heard that many people were disappointed about the dev's stance on allowing violence to be done to the alien fauna in the game.

It is sure, but I don't think the place is strictly limited to beings from that specific time age.
Really, the only struggle I've had so far after getting yoinked down here is I used a random scroll to get it out of my inventory and it was summon monster, got a baby chromatic dragon. Thankfully some other potions had buffed me with berserk strength and stuff, so while it did take half my HP in the fight I still won and it gave me half a level of exp by itself.
>>
>>579613689
I only played ryza trilogy and yumia. They were alright, though yumia dumbed down the alchemy too much. And big open world with you building shitty bases everywhere didn't have the same comfy feel as Ryza 1 "making a cute little atelier in the woods with your childhood friends" and then 2 having an atelier in a bustling city.
>Are they even available in English?
Marie got a recent remake, otherwise looks like the other Salburg games and the 2 Gramnad games don't have an official english version yet. I would be surprised if there aren't some fan patches around though.
Everything after seems to have at least an NA release so an english version should be around.

Or maybe your character is just so angry at Morgoth that you're leaving the entire world to go the void where he's been locked in.

Everything since Rorona's translated (and I've got it all downloaded and ready to play). Just need to figure out if adding the first few games on top of that is going to be worth the time, I'll be playing Atelier for the next year at this rate

Which isn't really surprising
A lot (and i mean A LOT) of these sales are from bandwagoners who just buy anything looks hype any given week and quickly realize they don't really enjoy it THAT much
You can bet the same people bought StS2, Mewgenics and Arc Raiders and didn't play more than 10 hours of each
Well, at least Unknown Worlds don't have to fret about money and can do whatever the fuck they want
>>
>>579613590
Seems fine, I know I wouldn't play an early access game for more than a few hours unless it was already pretty much the complete game.
>>
>>579611812
>I already had the game previous to 1.0 and the missions want me to play the first map. I don't know if they are worth doing.
As a new player it's great though, if you don't particularly care to play anything specific and just want to play.
I'm at 15 hours now, playing mostly at x2 speed, almost hitting level 400, and I've never once made my own mission, everything I've played are just the missions.

Sapienza was pretty good. i think from the hitman 1 campaign i only really dislike Colorado. Stupidly open map that's entirely hostile so suit only sounds like a pain in the ass. Though i admit i didn't see much of marrakesh since i noticed a nice clear view on the target from one of the roofs so i decided to go full sniper.
Also this escalation mission was stupid and dumb and i love it.

Okay at this point I need to figure out: Can a Paladin use the Prayer book "Cleansing Power" or not? It's greyed out in my list and I can't read it, but I don't know if it is because I'm not high enough level for it or Paladins can't learn from it, or what. Google's AI is insisting that I can, but if I can't then I need room for other shit and want to drop it, since there's a hard cap for how many item types you can hold at a given time.

>>579629014

>>579629261
Does it depend from the version?

>>579629423
It's kinda map-based? I mean, depending where you build stuff, they produce different things. Like, put a quarry in the plain, it'll produce copper. Put it in the desert, it'll make tin. Put it in the volcano biome, it'll make iron.
>>
>>579631849
>It's kinda map-based?
No. I mean like map painter style. Uh, like PDX games.
>>
>>579631849
>Does it depend from the version?
Yes, they've changed the game several times over the years, I'm on the latest 4.2.6 and every guide I've checked says different things or is out of date, and the main player run forums for the game are down.

I think it's one of these games where you're better playing it with friends, because there's a lot of moving ressources around, and I suspect that some weapons are not viable if you're alone, like the daggers or the bow.
And also, any throwable object can be loaded on the catapult, and if you have to go fetch rocks yourself, you're a lot less productive than if you have a friend fetching them.
