But it's made by non-Japanese people, so it's less reliant on familiarity with Japanese cultural/linguistic intricacies than most of the genre1b. the messages are delivered (variably) powerfully, subtly, abstractly, and structurally. Every major route/romance is both unique and a variation on a core theme, so each one you play gives you something special, while reinforcing ideas shared by the others.1c. We're all different, so having 5 routes is huge. One route might not "click" with you, while another touches your very core. There's no consensus on which is best2. the production itself is fascinating: a multi-year journey of passion from a sizeable number of international collaborators. It wasn't a commercial product made for profit and made on a timeline dictated by executives, and it's easy to feel in the final game that this was a work that came from the heart3. I genuinely think it's just "that good": the quality is very high. It's hard for me to listen to the score/soundtrack without a bunch of emotions flooding into me, and I'm not a very emotional person normally4. specifically for "timeless", the core of the story is about love, both for oneself and for others, and the trials and rewards of learning to grow close to other people. Unrelated (but I guess semi-related to KS) but I hate it when people who write fanfiction or make content for a fandom put it on bullshit mediums like BBS and forums or threads. Sooner or later they will delete their account, or get deleted for some bullshit, or the forum will simply stop being used and die and the owner will shut it down and then all that content will be gone forever and you will never be able to see or read it again.It astounds me that as late as 2015 so many people still did shit this way instead of using sites like fanfiction or AO3 so things would be more reasonably archived, somehow people still do it today but I'm thankful it's now a minority.I'm sure with older, niche content like Katawa Shoujo there is dozens and dozens of long lost fics.
