First, castcolle.The rough outline in your interpretation, as I read in your post, is this: Amana has feelings for ShinyP > she can't express them > normally turns them inwards to self-depreciation > castcolle teachers her to loose inhabitation a bit more > she becomes more capable of expressing those thoughts > Axe8 is where this contributes to the conflict.I read castcolle as being about something else. She does a few new things. For example, she blames ShinyP for being dense. She normally doesn't do this. Called him an idiot in her own thoughts, and then calls herself an idiot because she isn't confessing so of course he isn't noticing. Amana typically filters her feelings so that they don't hurt anyone else. What she learns in castcolle is to stop automatically filtering her emotions for the consideration of other people. ShinyP literally tells her to stop doing that. But it isn't as simple as "thinking of others is wrong, discard that part of yours."

She never blames ShinyP, in fact, the Axe8 commu ends with her apologizing to him, admitting she was wrong for how she acted. This is our major disagreement over castcolle. I think it explores a side of Amana that we haven't seen before, but I also don't think it plays into Axe8, because Axe8 story is going in a direction that requires ignoring castcolle. She immediately goes back to self-filtering. That's my reasoning for not considering castcolle as important. She's self-filtering for different reasons, but it happens again.

My interpretation is that it was to confirm whether she's actually doing this, spending time with ShinyP because she likes him, and not just because she's busy with work. Do you see how this reframes the conflict a bit? If it's just rivals in love, it's Amana angry at Chiyuki being they're rivals and she perceives herself as losing. In my own interpretation, what fuels Amana is her love for ShinyP, but what causes the conflict is her self-criticalness at not being able to live up to certain standards she is setting for herself. That's why the lesson she takes from this is not to just spend more time with ShinyP, but express her likes more. Her desires more. It's broader than just him.
