Yes and yes. He's ass though, bench him forever

>>579923805
>Also is slayer class actually this simple he legit has no buttons other than his mark
Yes you just use the quick study and go ham. But Greybor is really a badly designed character. His story is fine but he is a dwarf assassin with no magic. So in actual fights he becomes useless because of his movement range.
>>
>>579924428
I always vacillate with Greyboar. I like him at first and then later I feel he goes on too much, almost like he insists on himself and by then I also already have a good team set up anyway.

The very first impression when he helps with the demons in the city, even though its pretty mild, is actually kind of a cool intro. It just gets extra later on.

Well from attractiveness overall she is better, since she's got herself together more from the sole fact she isn't walking around near topless all the time and she's devout if your PC is into that.
Morrigan is a hot witch that aggressively wants to procreate for her spells, which is more fetishy and less "live a long happy life together" of her.

Its not very forgiving if you don't play very specific builds to their strengths and have some foreknowledge of events, iirc. I haven't played it in a decade but it remains in my memory as the "hardest" rpg I've ever tried playing...probably because I used to like making too well-rounded RP characters that were never a master at anything when I was younger.

In that case I'd say that Underrail is less punishing. As long as you focus on a specific playstyle and don't try to be proficient in multiple things, you should be fine
iirc a lot of people struggle because they neglect crafting, so if you do pick Underrail up, I'd recommend putting some points into Mechanics and Electronics.

I'm playing it. It's genuinely fun. The story is a bit eh at the moment, in that the writing is very good, but I'm at the moment where the game went BG2 on me and went "in order to proceed in the main quest, do enough sidequests to get the bad guy's attention", so I am assuming it'll pick up eventually.

Trailers and character portraits (like BG1 and 2 art) dictate what's canon.
In-game models don't because they're limited to the technology and skills of the time.

A new game mechanic is required for owlclown games: a renegade interrupt. Any time you feel the character is taking too long to get to a point (which is constantly), you press a button and bitchslap them, stopping the rant. The characters react to it and after experiencing it 3 times (number of bitchslaps needed could vary depending on a character) learns their lesson and starts speaking in a succint manner like an actual human bean.

>>
>>579957256
Not to aimbots because those functions are not integrated naturally into the electronic devices you use on the daily. You have to seek them out in an external manner and willfully download them.
A screenshot function, however, is found on all computer devices nowadays and have its own alloted button, even, thus it is integrated into everyday use.
So I view those processes differently.

Just finished Star Wars: Zero Company. Took just over 30 hours. Easily one of the best CRPG experiences I've had in the last few years, probably since Baldur's Gate 3 came out. A little disappointed the game ends and doesn't let you keep doing missions, but other than that the game really knocked it out of the park on all fronts. Beautiful on my machine, fun, memorable characters, great story, lot of build depth, more choices and consequences and party reactivity than something like an Owlcat game, you name it. Surprise GOTY for me I think. Saw the usual optimization complaints, but everything ran perfectly on my machine.

I took around 130ish screenshots, I'll begin posting them here to document my playthrough, and afterwards I'll put up a strawpoll to see which CRPG you'd like me to document next. If you can't decide, it's no biggie, I'll eventually document all of them here, this is just to decide who goes first.
>>
Unfortunately I lost some of the earlier screenshots, but this was pretty early in the game. I thought it was getting towards the end, but there's a lot of false finishes. And always welcome, even when the actual ending came I was kind of wishing there was more. A good contrast to something like WOTR, which just drags on and on.

You can also just post around it, I'm sure someone will talk about Yrliet's vagina with you or whatever groundbreaking discussion you want to have here.

Not a Disney fan either, but there's none of the sequels here. It's mostly a love letter to The Clone Wars and a bit of Republic Commando. There are a lot of KotOR references but nothing too heavy handed, a temple off in the distance on Dantooine, Manaan, stuff like that.

Star wars faggot is a friend of the mods, it's why he's allowed to blatantly post off topic games and ruin this general while the rest of the anons have to suffer.
>>
>>579961735
I would liken it to both. Reminds me the Harebrained Shadowrun games, just a little more in-depth on the combat system. Much more in-depth on companion relationships and reactions than something like WOTR or RT. Genres are hardly ever a hard border anyways, which is why Deus Ex and VTMB aren't first person shooters. But that sort nuance gets some anons really riled for some reason. Oh well.

I consider it a CRPG. Ask a hundred anons for a definition of a CRPG and get a hundred and one answers. It values character skill over player skill, it has pretty in-depth party relationships and choices/consequences around that, the itemization, the builds, the different paths you can take, the way the story develops around companion permadeaths and loyalty systems. It doesn't have everything that every other game does, but none of the games discussed here do. It's just a weird strain of autism that anons here can't stand to see someone playing, enjoying, and talking about a game they think you're not supposed to like.

You obviously can't stand the game, and that's fine, but you're making the decision to screech and holler about it instead of just posting about the things you want to talk about. I'm going to talk about Zero Company here, that's it. If you want to talk about Yrliet's tonsil stones for the 10,000th time, knock yourself out. It's not like there's a limited number of posts-per-hour here and I'm taking up all your spots, you can just talk about whatever you want to talk about. Games are rarely just one thing. They have the same combat system as something like Shadowrun Returns for example, just a little more in-depth and interesting. A game can have a little strategy and a little role-playing at the same time, just like it can be a first person perspective game with shooting and roleplaying. Shining Force, Shadowrun, etc.
>>
>>579963518

>>579963175
I consider it a CRPG. I've asked before for anons to talk about their personal definition of a CRPG, but most of the time they won't or can't. Those few who do end up producing a definition that excludes most of the sacred cows talked about here. The only real definition is mine, which is a game that favors character skill over player skill and features choose-your-own-adventure storytelling. And this does.

Maybe you should do that.
>>
>>579964989
My bet is that most of the staff are SEAmonkeys that mostly hang out in the gacha generals, so they don't know what's going on around the board at large. Tel with some very topical wisdom for some of you. You complain about a thing that you bring about yourself, all because a stranger enjoying a CRPG that you don't find to be sufficiently 'based' sends you into a rage. Why whine? Why not post about the things you like, like Rogue Trader, stalking redditors, imagining the smell? Step outside yourself and look at what you're really doing with an honest eye.

One thing I really liked was that party members have relationships with each other, not just you, and it would develop organically over time based on how you played the game and the choices you made. Most CRPGs have the party members changing their opinion of the player (some don't even have that), but few of them have dynamic companion-to-companion attitudes. Maybe Divinity will go that way.

I thought Gorga would be a bigger deal, especially after thing happened. Maybe in an eventual expansion. I read that they furloughed most of the staff just prior to release, but now it's reviewing well and has been on Steam's top sellers all week, so who knows. Shades of Troika and VTMB.

What language was the grey army inspired by? Is it actually readable or understandable to someone who knows some Serbian or Slavic languages?
Sørmirbæren stuff is very understandable for anyone familiar with the Scandinavian languages like Norwegian, Swedish and Danish, but there's also some Norse there.
>Sørmirbæren language could be called a nordic creole language, similarly to how Fatherland language spoken by Gray Army soldiers and Kokoschka is a proto-slavic language or perhaps a slavic creole. Sørmirbæren most closely resembles Norwegian, but incorporates elements from all north germanic languages and even bits of Finnish in its vocabulary.
>>
>>579967206
Yeah, genre is a continuum. As I said, games very rarely fit entirely in one box or the other, hence indeterminate language like "more than". You wouldn't say "that's more chicken than cow" because you're either a chicken OR a cow. But you can debate the 60/20/10/10 genre splits in most of these games. Is WOTR a strategy game because it has the war map? It's just one of those things that thoughtful people capable of nuance are fine with by default, but overly rigid autism people get really upset by it apparently. Oh well.

In any case, I really liked the (brief) haunted ship segment.

i liked how xcom wasn't about your units, they were expendable. it would be pretty nice to have another crpg without all the companionslop (e.g. icewind dale), lately everything crpg has been waifus and shiet and that's mid
>>
>>579967263
Agreed. I think most devs just don't have a good handle on scoping and measure-twice-cut-once development. They can hardly get big player choices working without faking one out and merging everyone back to the same on-rails path, so branching companion interactions is an order above that. But maybe one day.

The ideal is that there is separate, interesting content for when they like and hate each other, and hating each other isn't just a failure state with less game.

ya zero company is my goty so far. Glad to see other people enjoying it.

Tactical rpg's exist. Fallout tactics and Wasteland are examples. Zero Company has a character focus and story focus that X-Com lacks, which brings it closer to fallout tactics/wasteland and saying "it's just x-com" isn't quite accurate. It's x-com with more story and character interactions, which is a tactical rpg.

In any event, quibbles over genre aside, it's just a solid good game which is nice to have from this disney era. It feels like a breath of fresh air. Star Wars CAN be good.

I wouldn't recommend it if you hate or are indifferent to Star Wars, no. I think the game is really well made and the combat especially is fun on its own, but if you don't care for the setting then you're always going to be missing a big piece of what made it great. It would be like somebody who hates fantasy trying out Baldur's Gate, it's always going to be a hard sell.

It's not like KotOR mechanically, except in the barest sense of having CRPG derived stats gameplay. Your units aren't really expendable here. You can recruit hirelings, and they're actually pretty well developed as characters (when you pick a voice you're picking a background story), but it's clear you're meant to use the 'real' party members. The combat is much closer to xcom than kotor, it is fully turn based, tactical grid, very similar to the Shadowrun games if you played those. Most of the story stuff happens on The Den, which is your Ebon Hawk equivalent, and then the exploration bits, and combat switches you over to the turn based mode.

I had to take a break to mull it over, but in the end I couldn't justify letting the schizo go even if it would be funny. My party has been collecting bounties and putting people in prison so it would be too OOC.

On that note, something I really enjoy in this game is that you can choose to be non-lethal. When you're in non-lethal mode, you knock people out. A lot of characters I role-play aren't the kind that would kill people for money, but a lot of CRPGs, even Serpent in the Staglands, usually only allow you to either kill them, or in some cases let them off the hook completely. The dove icon in the lower left-hand side corner means I'm in non-lethal mode.

"hate or are indifferent" - in English, the 'or' is important, it means the statement didn't stop at 'hate'.

And again, if you dislike the setting OR are indifferent to it (read: 'not really into') then you're probably better off playing something you're more into. Personally I'd love to see you skip this game and find some online English lessons to spend your time on.

All this retard does all day is upset himself by hallucinating things people haven't said
>>
>>579969005
I didn't. I only know of 'froggy' because of the anons here bringing him up ten times a day as a phantom that lives in their mind, and I have no idea what 'vagrus' is. Every third post here is one of you flailing wildly about and insisting that some anon is some other anon and then ranting about how that anon wronged you fifteen moons ago and now they're gonna pay. I suspect many of you come from sites like reddit where profile stalking is the default tactic for argument, and being on a site where we're all anonymous and have no post history drives some of you insane. Instead of adapting, you create new profiles in your mind to stalk. It's very weird, and it really lowers overall post quality here. It would be nice if some of you would learn to engage with the ideas presented instead of trying to decide which mental phantom you're dueling with today.

Finished Rogue Trader today, i would give it overall 9/10 (10/10 atmosphere and music) but i have to lower it by 2 to 7/10 purely because combat is not balanced at all. Its so fucking stupid that even on Unfair in 200h game only first act is challenging and rest of the game you can finish fights on the first turn, most of the fights half of your team doesnt even get to act. Fucking ridiculous and i will be mad if owlcat will never fix because i want to replay it but not when combat is this braindead.

Completely correct, and a common complaint. Owlcat cannot manage decent encounter design or maintain a solid and balanced power curve throughout the game whatsoever. Your parties power goes at an exponentially greater rate due to the badly designed character progression and, even worse, the TERRIBLE item progression such that by the time you get to the end game, Necrons are less challenging than Anvers Gangers were on Footfall. It's disgraceful, and one of the biggest problems with Rogue Trader, since, as you say, it utterly kills replayability. The only difference once you get to late Act 2 between just using Toybox to "kill all" vs actually playing out a combat is about 30-40 seconds of watching combat animations. Worth a single playthrough for the characters and setting, though. Best rendition of a Dark Eldar in a long time. Too bad about Yrliet, though.

Mintharafag, its not only that you post offtopic garbage, its primarily that you have melties like you're having even still. If you want to be a person who is pleasant to have here you have to stop having schizo melties all the time.

That's why when someone posts something offtopic about whatever else and it gets a little back and forth traction there's very little contention, because no one's having a gross shitfit for days on end as a result of it like you do.

You need to stop talking to yourself here and just go to another thread, maybe back to /bgg/ or wherever you came from and be their problem instead.

thats the thing i loved encounter design in RT, pretty much every boss battle has special mechanic you need to play around, it mogs WotR and pretty much all rpgs. its just sad that all that effort is ruined by garbage talent/item balancing

10/10 atmosphere and music but 6 or 7 or so combat is pretty common review, and mine too. It's one of my all time favorite games, but that's mostly because of the atmosphere, music, characters, and setting. The actual gameplay gets pretty easy the nanosecond you start putting simple synergies together.

The good news is that Dark Heresy is much, much better in this regard. They heard feedback and steered in the other direction, combat is rather tough in DH. The final boss took me several tries, which never ever happened in RT.

I still give RT a solid 8.5/10 all things considered because I love the good parts so much.

Owlcat games are notoriously difficult to mod and require a ton of time and maintenance, made worse by the fact that your mods will usually break every time a new DLC or patch comes out. The guy who did the Wol'jif romance mod for WotR flat out said if he knew what a pain in the ass it was going to be to make and maintain it, he would never have done it because it was such a nightmare. This is why there are virtually no major content mods for Rogue Trader at all, not even the much requested Argenta romance, because modders have realized that modding Owlcat games is too painful to be worth the time and effort. Unless Owlcat starts releasing mod tools or something expect the same thing for Dark Heresy.

Rogue Trader has terrible encounter design. Like every Owlcat game so far, it's just a stat check. If you built your characters right, they steamroll, if you didn't, they automatically lose. About the only fun encounter I can remember in the entire game was when the Daemonettes invade your chambers during a warp jump, since at least that had a little bit of novelty to it. Comparing Owlcat games encounter design to just about any other CRPG makes it blatantly obvious it's one of their worst aspects as a developer.

Decent encounter design means there are multiple approaches to a fight and you actually have to think about what you're doing in order to effectively progress. A simple example would be the Orc ambush in Fir'kraags lair in BG2, it's a series of archers behind slits that are sealed off by two points of entry which are both locked.

If you simply walk into the room unprepared (at the appropriate level, anyway) you will get shredded, especially your lower AC casters. However, you can avoid this by having solid archers of your own exchange fire (though you'll still take damage this way), or you can send a Thief in with stealth and unlock the doors then rush them in melee, which allows you to defeat the encounter with relatively little damage.

Of course you can just bruteforce it, especially if you're overleveled, but the point is there are multiple ways to approach the fight and taking the smarter options actually improves your chances and mitigates the damage you take. That is good encounter design, it rewards the player for thinking about what they're doing and doing more than just blindly right clicking their party forward.

Compare that to Owlcat games, especially Rogue Trader, there is no different approach you can take to an encounter. There's no different approach or smart thing you can do as a player, tactically, to improve your odds or simply perform better in the encounter at hand. You simply right click your guys forward, the encounter starts, and the stat check plays out. It's probably the worst part about Owlcat games as a whole, well, that and their terrible itemization.

I like how Owlcats bandaid fix to this in Void Shadows was to straight up put a hard cap on how much damage you can do in the final fight to the last boss per round, so it thrillingly takes a couple more rounds to do what you easily could've done in the first. They didn't even try, they just hard capped it so the fight wouldn't be over in one round since they had no idea how to actually balance out the encounter without that happening outside of straight up fiat and 4th wall breaking "you just can't damage it more than 25% a round okay, you just can't" bullshit.

Also yes the Momentum system is terrible and was a gigantic mistake, second only to Officers. How hard is it for RPG developers to understand that the action economy is the be all end all in a TBC system? Stuff that can give extra turns will ALWAYS be incredibly overpowered and strong, which is why most RPG systems, if they give that ability at all, only give it at the very end tail of character power.

And when they don't, it fucking breaks the system every single time. See D&D 3E Haste for another great example of this in action. Additionally, another huge problem with Officers beyond the action economy is the fact that, due to how CRPGs work, creating a class such as Officer is a terrible, terrible idea because all combat encounters must be designed to be defeatable ASSUMING an Officer is NOT present. So when an Officer IS present, the statistical buffs they give massively overpower the party since you are now hitting and doing damage at a much higher rate than the encounter is designed to handle.

You would need to fundamentally rework Officers entirely to fix this problem, which won't happen, and that is why they will most certainly be either making every encounter a cakewalk ala RT, or become MANDATORY to take in your party if you are to effectively beat encounters. The existence of such a class leaves no room for any other outcome.

To be fair, what can they really do? It would require a fundamental rebalance and rework of the entire combat system and reworking Officers as well, at the least, to even begin to fix the problem. Add to that the ridiculous item power glut that exists and you have a near impossible problem to fix. It would be a titanic effort and only the few obsessives that want to replay the game repeatedly would even notice or care. I am pretty cynical about this stuff so if anything I'm surprised they're actually (seemingly) trying to at least somewhat make the combat better in Dark Heresy, I thought it would just be more of the same. Still don't see how they can fix the Officer problem without completely reworking the class though, so that's still going to be an issue in DH. At least the Momentum system has been mothballed.

Also it IS still the beta, and plebes will be plebes, so it's entirely possible the combat will get nerfed to RT levels by the time the game comes out, too. We also don't know if they fucked up on itemization again, either. Still, at least they're seeming to take steps in the right direction with what we've seen so far.

It's bad design no matter who does it, either balance the encounter properly or let it get steamrolled, putting in hard limits like that shows a complete and utter failure on the developers part since it's an implicit admission they have no clue how to make it challenging within the system they're working with.

They could remove initiative cheat from cassia and that would already make combat 5x times better, i dont have any hopes for full officer rework but they could limit free turn bullshit and nerf obvious OP ultimate, talents and items, maybe then if you play with difficulty slider to the max(above unfair) to get -75% momentum and other sliders maxed like dodge maybe combat would last longer than 1 round.

I've been toying with the idea of an anime style magical girl CRPG. Your character stats would be magical girl themed, love, magic, friendship, cuteness etc. You would go on adventures, but have a management part where you need to manage you daily life to keep your magical girl identity secret from your parents.
>>
>>579979494
You're not wrong but namefaggots tend to start replying to themselves to create the semblance of engagement and then newcomers think that's normal and the cycle starts over. I don't know if there's another solution though.
>>
>>579979465
>Maybe combat would last longer than 1 round
Nah, it doesn't, I've played with all the sliders maxed and it still turns into the same thing every time. And yeah Grand Strategist was also a gigantic mistake, second only to extra turns for breaking turn based combat systems is initiative abuse. Most TBC systems turn into Alpha Strike syndrome for a reason.

Can one of you mon-keighs explain why you expend so much effort arguing among yourselves over such trivial matters? I cannot say I am surprised. This is why your species will always be inferior to us, the proud Aeldari. We were conquering the stars when you were still playing with your mon-keigh excrement.

Why are you posting Yrliet when pretending to be Eldar? She's the most not Eldar ever written in 40K, Yrliet is like some Human cosplaying what they think an Eldar is, that's how badly she's written and characterized. Terrible character on every level.

Didn't say it was, I'm describing collective behaviors. I could also say something along the lines of "I'll learn it's not 1 person who hates him when you learn it's not 1 person who knows how to write a sentence"

It's obsessive, it's all you people ever talk about. Half of you probably have one of those conspiracy nut corkboards on your wall with a bunch of yarn connections between the namefag and JFK.

>>579981262
So I noticed. Something similar takes place virtually every day here. They claim they want something, but when they get it they hate it. They claim to hate something, but they do everything in their power to make sure it's a constant fixture here.

Craftworld Eldar really are terribly written in Rogue Trader in general, it goes far beyond just Yrliet. Which is rather odd since they did a great job on every other faction, including even the Dark Eldar. I still feel like Yrliet and Crudarach Eldar were a rush job or last minute addition to the game with how badly they're handled. It's not an author problem either, the writer who did Yrliet wrote Cassia so clearly they're capable of competence.

There's a lot of anime people here unfortunately. Mod authors typically have no taste or discernment, modders usually don't either, porno gamers aren't known for their good taste, and we all know what animus are like. Skyrim modding has all that blended together, multiple layers of bad taste.
>>
>>579981838
Who even gives a fuck about Yrliets romance? I mean yeah it's as badly written as the rest of the character but even if you remove it entirely and it simply doesn't exist, Yrliet remains the worst written companion Owlcat ever made.
>>
>>579981931
GW has to look over all writing Owlcat does, yes it's true, they approve all drafts. So my guess her terrible story relates to GW forcing it. Owlcat are usually decent at character writing but Yrliet sticks out like a sore thumb.

And if the things I love are being destroyed?
>>
>>579982076
I don't buy that, I think it's more likely they just didn't put any time or work into the character. For fucks sake you get more information on Craftworld Eldar and how they work/think from Marazhai than you do Yrliet, it's like the writer who did her read absolutely nothing about CW Eldar or how they work at ALL, and just quickly made a basic bitch "haughty Elf" character without actually paying attention to how CW Eldar work in 40K. For fucks sake they don't even go into detail on the Paths, which is like CW Eldar 101. Meanwhile every other companion gives you a full breakdown and lens into how their faction works in the setting. Yrliet is the only one who completely and utterly fails at this. You can't really chalk that up to GW interference.
>>
>>579981558

So will Skyrim. Skyrim was a really special game, and most of the tes games that came before it were special too. Hopefully bethesda gets back on track and makes the next tes game really special too.
>>
>>579982514
This is also very likely, true. I dont know who wrote her, but ignorance definitely played a role when it came to writing. Which is strange because both Larry and Marzipan are quite decent. Yrliet is just terrible.

Comparatively speaking it flopped. While it released in EA in a relative rough state and many updates have since come and the game has had a full release it never really gained a significant player traction since its initial early access launch. Which is a shame.
More accessible and popular than Serpent in the Staglands, very likely, but this no doubt cost much more money to develop on their front.

It's a 40K game, part of the fun is seeing all the interesting and cool factions that are part of the universe. Every other character in the retinue manages to fulfill this role AND (except for Solobore, maybe) ALSO be an interesting character in general. Yrliet fails at both of these things, and it's particularly egregious she fails at being, as you call it, a walking loredump since how badly do you have to fuck up in order to fail at that basic bitch of a task, writing wise? Not like it's hard to just have her go "so this is what CW Eldar are about and what we do", but Yrliets writer couldn't even manage that much. The rest of the character is even more of a catastrophe, of course, so you can't even use the "but the rest of her writing is good" excuse.

Marazhai is the best written companion next to Pasqual, though, so I really can't agree with that at all. Of course most players will never realize this since Owlcat made him a late game companion and set up his recruitment and retainment as a retinue member in such a way that it's absolutely ridiculous to keep him in the party. As a character he's great, but his setup is done so poorly it makes no sense he's a companion in the first place. I really hope Owlcat has finally learned their lesson in Rogue Trader after seeing the abysmally low retinue usage rates of Ulfar and especially Marazhai and stops doing late game companion recruitment from this point on.

I hate Yrliet for not representing her faction well AND for being terribly written in general, let's be clear here.
>>
Your post is terribly written if it doesn't contain sex for my rogue trader

How are they not?
Take Muaran for an example. All his acts are entirely sensible, logical and sound. He has no manpower, no army to wage an all out war, but still has duty to protect this Maiden World. Janus suffers and it is because of humans, he is right. So he starts a guerrilla warfare and uses humans as pawns, training them and turning against their rulers. While their base of operations is kept hidden.

They cannot walk openly among humans, so he sends infiltrators and spies. When disliked Outcast shows up, he uses her for this Mission, since it's the most sensible thing to do.

You are opposed to him initially and outgun him. But being enemies towards each other initially is not a fault of his.

It's actually insane that Yrliet is so eager to kill him for no reason at all. He is doing all that is possible to be done with resources and strategical options this scarce

>Of course most players will never realize this since Owlcat made him a late game companion and set up his recruitment and retainment as a retinue member in such a way that it's absolutely ridiculous to keep him in the party
>"Please don't kill this very killable character they're totally worth it!"
This has never been true

Eh gotta disagree there but he is my fav with Pasqal too!

Same, fags just want to fix every evil character.

How are they any different? Neither Witcher 3 nor Bijin are anime, they have this same approach to realistic artstyle, keeping skin imperfections, while making women still pretty
>>579986363
It's identical to Witcher 3 artstyle

Her 3d model is really off putting, no idea why they went for bowlcut with fully shaved back when she could look like on the right pic
>>
>>579985551
Yeah it's possible. The game put me on the yrliet path several times since I'm just cordial with her which passes the first couple stages and that included on dogmatic runs.
Though how close your dogmatic character wants to get to a xenos is up to you.

There's a game called Schedule 1 that is about starting up a drug empire and it has stats and leveling but it's more of an action game, and more of a management game.

>>579985756
Tau. They have beaten multiple imperial crusades and have already expanded faster than humans originally did during the great expansion. They employ sensible tactics during fighting and they have by far the best diplomats and negotiations of the major factions.

But it's also kind of an unfair situation, since they didn't have deamons breathing down their neck at all times throughout their development. Part of the reason why the imperium is so stupid and backwards is because Vashtorr shoves deamons through your computer screen if you innovate, so close minded unga bunga bullshit is an actual effective defense mechanism agaisnt the way chaos operates in their quest to devour human souls. Tau have very little warp presence, so are mostly ignored by chaos, and so had the luxury of developing technology and a moderate culture over the thousands of years of their development.

Muaran is an incompetent retard just like every other CW Eldar in RT. If he was good at his job an entire Craftworld wouldn't have been lost to a single missile guided by a fucking servitor (let's not even get into how retarded that plot point was in general, the idea of an entire Craftworld dying to something like that is beyond asinine, but again the writers for RT clearly knew nothing about CW Eldar so whatever), he didn't foresee or stop it, he didn't effectively gather together or protect his kin which were scattered all over the Koronus Expanse who die comically stupid deaths in Yrliets quest, and rather than prioritize the safety and escape of what few of his people remained, decided it was a great time to try and fuck with the leadership of a planet in the demesne of a Rogue Trader, surely that can't possibly go wrong.

They genuinely have a webway portal standing right there. He could've simply escaped and regathered his people and come back to wreak whatever vengeance they wanted later, rather than trying to do too much with far too little like an infantile moron. Ah but Eldar live such short lives he couldn't possibly have been patient and wise, so it's understandable, right? Oh wait. Please dude, RT is generally written decently/well, but Yrliet and the CW Eldar in general are a glaring blight on the overall narrative. The game would've been far better had they not been present in any way shape or form, given how badly they're used and implemented in the narrative.

Yeah developers somehow blatantly expect the player to metagame so they don't actually set up the scenario of recruiting these types well at all, ever. They basically just assume the player will spare them because they want the companion and the narrative content that comes with them, and so they put the player in a situation where, if they're roleplaying at all, they just kill the guy because why the fuck wouldn't you? It's really bad form that CRPG developers still do this stupid shit.

Abelard is boring because he has nothing going for him except being your fluffer. He is fine, but boring
Kebab has the same problem as yrliturd - written by a writer who was woefully unprepared and unskilled to write a character concept like that. The only time she was interesting was when you sentence her to death for murder. At that moment she demonstartes a personality, a character growth and agency. At all other times, including her "arc" resolution, she's just "tell me what to do, master" which ia boring
Jae ok maybe she is interesting to aome, but not for me. I just don't care for her
Macaque is marazhao and he is boring. You buy a dark eldar and you a get a dark eldar. Nigger's got no arc and no story, murder lmao is just not intetrsting in the slightest. Plus he's poorly implemented

Crude Rock was attacked with ancient Necrontyr weapon back from War in Heaven. Craftworlds are a small and weak remnant of an ancient Eldar Empire. It makes sense that of all things, this would fuck them up

Eldar may have time to live long, but Janus doesn't and it's his duty to protect it. Situation is fucked up and everything is crashing down. Muaran has no ship and travelling Webway is dangerous as well
