They have restrictions around how they can design MD because it is meant to be used to farm the most important currency in the game, if the new mode isn't tied to something like that then they could do more options with it, and maybe even make it challenging. Kind of like Arknights' IS game mode if director took any note from that game that should have been the one. You can completely skip that mode and not miss out on any important rewards, but it's the most fun to play game mode.
