It might just this board, but I never see people talk about the game itself but other longtime posters. But, the community ingame has been pretty great so far as well. I expected the usual MMO experience where everyone yells at you for not knowing a fight you’ve never seen before, but most people have been surprisingly patient. Getting through the first time you fight Titan with a group that actually knows what it’s doing is one of the most satisfying things I’ve done in an MMO.Also, the job system is awesome. Being able to switch classes just by changing your weapon is such a simple idea, but it makes leveling and experimenting way less annoying. I’ve mostly been playing a Dragoon, because obviously, but I’ve been tempted to try Scholar and Black Mage too.It’s not perfect. The inventory system is kind of a mess, the quests can drag, and the UI feels like it was designed by someone who hates new players. But underneath all that is a really solid game with an actual identity.I honestly didn’t expect to get this invested, but now I’m checking my retainer ventures and planning my next relic weapon like it’s a second job. 10/10 would wipe to Titan again.

For a new player I don't think level scaling and relative player power are really problems until you're getting to "final boss" instances like Knights of the Round or Shinryu, and of those two examples I'd say it's not really a problem until Shinryu in Stormblood where the boss was clearly much harder before power-creep. (KOTR and the Ultima Weapon were, infamously, easy even at release due to developer undertuning. Ultima Weapon EX's Unreal raid that bumps up levels to current or "current" standards made light of the fact it's probably the first time anybody's really seen most of its mechanics.) Usually it seems like people bounce off FFXIV either because it has a slow start, or because they thought it would be FF flavored WoW from the description and didn't expect it to have a long-running story. I'm an admirer of the decision to renege on plans and not offer Dawntrail as a consequence-free new starting point for the game. "Play our super long VN or fuck off."

Beast tribes are ok at some level brackets.Make sure you have manuals for exp boost and make sure you do the class quests to get manipulation.Apparently bronze medals in cosmic give good exp so you can technically just muscle memory and groundwork to instantly finish the craft without any quality and get more exp than doing it silver/gold because of craft quantity.
