This same crafted armor was also extremely valuable for leveling because back then you had different "tiers" of equipment even if they had the same level requirement; this specific crafted armor was part of a set and available in every armor type and the only way to craft them was from extremely rare world drops in level 50+ content. The armor was higher level than anything else you could get for the level so you'd frequently see these crafted sets lasting all the way until 60 or at least until 58 which was huge at a time when even a single level required numerous dungeon clears which were slow as fuck because DPS had 10% crit rate. This could be seen at various level ranges where crafted equipment from rare recipes had an inflated item level.
