An interesting fact I found out when trying to figure out what the deal was: historically, "sapphire" referred to lapis lazuli. for all intents and purposes, for most of history lapis lazuli were considered sapphires, it's only in more modern history that we created a more definite definition making the blue stone and the blue gem have defined separate terms.it could be interesting to lean into the lapis lazuli aspect and do a story with silphir and pira, those flecks of gold you see in lapis lazuli are pyrite.
