I’ve tried a lot of presets over time, and usually I end up taking bits and pieces from them, tweaking everything to fit my own preferences, and eventually going back to whatever I was using before.Freaky Frankenstein has been the rare exception.What really clicked for me is that it feels like it’s actually trying to preserve the state of the story, rather than just producing a good response to whatever was said most recently. Characters feel more consistent. Things that happened earlier actually seem to matter later. Personalities, relationships, motivations, and the general direction of a scene feel less disposable.And with the newer Internal States approach, that difference has become even more noticeable. There’s a sense that the characters and world are carrying information forward instead of existing only for the current turn. That might sound like a small distinction, but for the kind of RP I enjoy, it’s huge. I feel like my role play is finally a living breathing world, esp when I’m using a well-written character card with its extended lorebook.I’m extremely picky about roleplay. I want characters to remember what happened, react appropriately to circumstances, maintain their personalities, and actually feel like they have their own internal logic. Not only the main character, but also the NPCs. I also like detail and consistency, but I don’t want the model to sacrifice immersion just to satisfy a checklist of instructions.FF (with all of its recent variants) has been surprisingly good at hitting that balance.I’ve run it with several of my favorite models now, and the preset has repeatedly made me stop and think, “Wait, that actually worked exactly how I wanted it to.”
