Retail and Classic+ will have its own separate new content releases going forward because Blizzard doesn't want you to cancel your sub. Normally players will play retail when there is new content but after a couple months they unsub until the next big patch. Classic+ will be the bridge in between so more players will just keep their sub going indefinitely. Also I expect Classic+ to have a lot of modern elements to attract as many retail players as possible.

How should Blizzard deal with long term plans? Like for instance, let's say they add a quest to save Varian Wrynn from Alcaz Island and bring him back to Stormwind. Do they use phasing technology to change those player's state of stormwind so they see Varian instead of Anduin? If not, at what point in the game's life do they change the world to reflect it? What happens to the people who haven't done the quest, will they remove the quest? Should they remove the quest and add a new quest into the area? Or do we leave Varian rotting in a cell for years and years and never get a quest to save him?And what about events like opening of the AQ gates? Those events are cool, but it's not "evergreen" and not everyone will experience it.

The most hype thing about Classic+ is the fact that it has a box cost. That tells me Blizzard thinks this is a product that is game warping enough to deserve a box cost. I will be sad if we have to wait 2 more years to play this, but it will be exciting if they do plan to work on it even more than they already have been.There is no way in hell they are going to give us a box cost for something as small a scope as SoD or TWoW. Classic+ is going to be announced at Blizzcon, not got a fancy name like Camelot or WoW next or even just called "Classic+" it's literally just going to be WoW Classic with the other servers (anniversary, era, etc.) keeping their unique titles. Some new race/class combos like Undead Paladin and Dwarf Shaman caught my eye, and there's one new race "Highborne Elves" which can be either Alliance or Horde (dunno if it's at character creation or during levelling though). A load of new Dungeons and the levelling raids from SoD are back it seems.
