Well, the DLC was pretty disappointing (just like the main game). It was just snippets from the main game copypasted with different lightning and the DLC areas aren't interesting or challenging at all. At least the final boss was a pretty fun battle, Liv is pretty fun and Punished Lou was the cutest thing ever. Dark Souls 2 and Nioh 1 still have the best DLC of all Soulslikes. Which is pretty depressing given how one is 12 years old and the other is 9 years old

>>580818695Huge step up from Code Vein's DLC. And I don't think the DLC areas are bad. First they're additional dungeons rather than additional open world areas which was the right choice. And they have some interesting map designs with verticality and hidden routes. I would consider them higher tier dungeons when compared to the ones in the main game. And, while small, they added the correct open world area as the access point; the tiny island where CV2 really begins. If you playthrough the game now from beginning, to 2nd ending, to DLC ending, to Rescue Lou gamemode and final true ending, you're getting a very solid narrative. The one last thing missing that would properly wrap up the story neatly is a flashback cutscene that shows Lou in danger on the smaller island as she's trying and failing to handle the cocoon by herself but our character jumps in to take the hit to the heart instead and dies. Such a scene would fully justify Lou's feelings and trappings of guilt throughout CV2 and the DLC. But since that flashback doesn't exist we have to make due with the implications that something like that happened which jumpstarts the story of the game. As it stands we know Lou was called by Lavinia to come along to do something important, then we wake up next to Lou, we see the cocoon explode and we're told we died helping evacuate the island. Why revive us? What exactly could've killed us in such a situation if the cocoon is only just exploding now? And most importantly why sacrifice half of Lou's heart just to revive us when we're just a goon and Lou is the pivotal character, the only one that could time travel to the past which was the only solution left? These are still a mystery. The connective cutscene is pretty easy to imagine but it should exist to full circle Lou's story.

Lavinia has insider knowledge on how Idris' power works and her plot requires Lou and an expendable human to be connected with the same heart so she rips out your heart herself and turns it into a tall tale of heroism to prevent panic. It's by happenstance that this choice ends up leading to the 1 solution that destroys the Resurgence. And that's a fine story. But we don't know the specifics as to what happened and why, and at it kinda bothers me that this one little hole exists. Oskar is the other loose end but ultimately he'd have a hard time affecting the plot on his own. Gotta leave something for Code Vein 3.

Like enemies you have in the first mission in Nioh 2 already you encounter late on the first map or one or two in the second map so you end up fighting the same basic goons the whole time. The funniest thing is despite being "open world" the game becomes rather linear past the first map so you can enjoy bad performance and mission like design. While Nioh 1 & 2 also try to tell the japanese story with weird time skips Nioh 3 goes all out with some time jumping making it pretty uninteresting all in all.
