>What the heck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as Age of Decadence, A Hat in Time, Axiom Verge, Baba Is You, Battle Brothers, Battlerite, Card City Nights 2, Cave Story, CrossCode, Cultist Simulator, Darkwood, DashBored, Dead Cells, The Desolate Hope, Disco Elysium, Environmental Station Alpha, FTL, Guacamelee!, Hollow Knight, Knytt, LISA, Lobotomy Corp, Machinarium, Middens, Monolith, Monster Train, Noita, OFF, OneShot, Rimworld, Rain World, Slap City, Slay the Spire, Starsector, Subnautica, Sunless Skies, Tooth and Tail, Underrail, VA-11 HALL-A, Yume Nikki, etc., as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Pillars of Eternity, Rayman, and Valkyria Chronicles. /jrpg/ is welcome. Idle games are cool too.

Mobile or consoles, Flash or Unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads, however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

And so Jack and friends(without friends though) have defeated Chaos. The End. Don't worry about the literal skull throne.
Solo Hard NG went fine. Though i think berserker with axe did a lot of the heavy lifting, shit's busted and getting one fully charged combo skill in often deleted the entire break bar of the boss. The problem is not getting killed while charging.
And casting ultima with Sage is pretty fun.
I'll probably try to take my time with Chaos difficulty this time and not immediately brute force my way into the DLCs via the "The Greedy" mission.
That was probably the reason i felt completely overwhelmed and dropped it by the time i reached the gilgamesh DLC the first time i played this.

The challenge resolution system is insanity. There's no logic to the decisions whatsoever. Cheat yourself infinite Insight and you'll lose your fucking mind.

It's like if they made an entire "RPG" around the settlement management system from Amazing Cultivation Simulator Except in this one you don't even get all your options right away, you have to roll them 4 at a time.

Decided to move my base or at least make a more permanent one at the border of the Black Forest. The base itself will be in the Meadows biome as to only have to deal with the starting greylings and not the bigger ones.
Also I may have to build bridges instead of having to search for fords in the river/canyons.

Anybody here interested in the idea of Zomboid co-op? I wouldn't mind a break from my current game to avoid overdoing it, and YouTube keeps shoving interesting "How to do (thing)" and "Tips you might not have known" etc Zomboid videos in my face and it's gotten me hankering for it.
>>
>>580859973
>Anybody here interested in the idea of Zomboid co-op?
I subscribed to one of the most popular mod collections on Steam. As when I bought it, the game lacked a ton of basic and common sense stuff, and had to look mods for it, until I gave up and decided to wait for it to get more time in the oven.
This is the (unlisted) collection I made based on said popular collection with a few additions. I still have yet to even launch the game https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3801035985.

But then I think, why play PZ single player, when it lacks a shitton of content and mechanics, when I could be playing Cataclysm: Bright Nights with mods. But I still want to try the whole "real time" instead of turn-based.
>>
>>580861995
Build 42 has improved stuff, if you're interested in either looking up what's changed over the years or finding out manually.
>>
Has anyone here played the Calico Wilder demo?
>>
>>580859973
>Anybody here interested in the idea of Zomboid co-op?
Heeeh. I'd like to, but the problem I have with project Zomboid is that it's one of these survival game where there's one guy that carries the game, and everyone else is a dead weight. And I already went through that in Factorio where I was just a dead weight to my partner, I'm not eager to do it again.
>>
>>580869195
I mean, I'm more than happy to stay at home tending to the base and working on crafting skills while you go out and fight the zombie hordes, if that's your thing.
>>
>>580831338
It's significantly less obtuse than the six ages games. there's even a reveal odds button which is very sporting.
>>
I finished Yet Another Zombie Survivors. It was kind of boring but it filled the time. 7/10
>>
>>580869953
No it isn't.
>>
>>580869750
...the opposite, mate. I play Dragonwilds with my friend, and I'm the farmer/cook while he's the explorer/craftsman. Even if he took to fishing recently.
Also I'm the hoplite with the big shield and the mace, he's the mage that hangs out at range.

>>580869953
>the six ages games
Age of Empires 1, 2, 3, 4, Age of Mythology...
WHAT IS THE SIXTH ONE???
>>
>>580870153
did you 100% it? I am working through the missions, but looks like its going to take some time.
>>
>>580869953
Almost every choice in Six Ages Heroquests goes like this:
>obligatory combat stat option
>obligatory diplomacy stat option
>obligatory leadership stat option
>obligatory magic stat option
>background specific option for the quester
>weird option for retards that have no skills
It's perfectly coherent and works exactly as advertised. Every choice in Thousand Hells is nonsense top to bottom and the odds reveal button only highlights just how fucking bad it can get.

And outside of Heroquests, building up your clan correctly (which is not RNG dependent at all) insulates you from the consequences of bad luck.
>>
>>580871239

NTA, I also usually end up being the one managing the base but that's because my buddy is a college dropout so while he's industrious enough to start making slapdash supply lines or just plonk shit down, anything that requires actual planning or operating at scale is beyond his ken. Also in any game with a cooking system if I want us to be doing anything more than eating raw ingredients I have to fill the larder and tend the garden.

>>580875285
For me, I just like farming. I think I'm the only one of all my friend circle to have the patience for it, and I already love discovering new recipes, so whether it's Valheim or Dragonwilds, I end up commandering the kitchen and building more defenses around my fields than the actual fortress has. I'd love to try Vintage Story with a friend because of the very interesting soil system that encourages crop rotation, but honestly, I already struggle in this game on my own, so with a friend, I fear we'd be constantly fighting over wood.
I also enjoy building, but friend loves it, so usually I let him do it. I tend to overdecorate anyway, and while it's interesting in Valheim for that comfort bonus, it's useless except for flavour in Enshrouded or Dragonwilds.
>>
>>580875925
>comfort bonus
I wish more games had a reason of that sort to actually make your base comfortable. Enshrouded sort of did but it was fairly trivial to make the bonus high enough that no improvement mattered.

This may be the biggest slowpoke ever, but it just dawned upon me now, that the indie "roguelike" epidemic is more than just a fad, or devs being lazy and trying to artificially inflate the gameplay time, or even the illusion of "infinite replayability".

Its gambling. More than anything, its gambling. It doesn't immediately look like gambling, because there is no real money and predatory practices involved (like lootboxes or gacha), and maybe the devs themselves don't realize it, maybe they are themselves a victim of this, but this kind of game design is literally preying on the part of human brain that is prone to addiction and gambling, and for many RNG heavy games, that is all there is to it.

How the fuck are you supposed to kill 3 skeleton swordsmen at the same time? My spear only does like 6-7 damage. Do I HAVE to use the stagsomething hammer?
Also yolo'd one of the ruins and got one of the red stones, but it turns out I need 5 for a smelter. And I'm running out of berries/shrooms and hunting is very very very time consuming and doesn't give that much meat or leather. Got some carrot seeds but fuck me if know how I can plant them.

Can't when you have 3 dudes hitting you

There's no way to do that as they are very fast and inside there's not enough room to loose the their aggro and then kite one by one.

They bunch up on door frames/tunnels and can attach through each other, so I'm still getting hit by 3 dudes at the same time.

It's heavier on the farming than Cult of the Lamb, but it has kind of a similar gameplay loop when you think about it.

>farming building etc.
>Well shit, I'm out of thing, better go on crusade.

Maybe that's just because I'm in the plateau, since I beat the mall fairly recently, I made it a bit of the way through the woods and then a mimic kicked my ass, so I've been going over the things I can do now including catching up on my fishing. I've only been fighting event monsters and mine enemies for the most part and I haven't run out of stuff to do.

I'm making steady progress and have found a few small item upgrades, most critically I'm now immune to confusion, but really I'm not making that much progress because I'm too strong to be messing around on floor 55 still - there's very little here that can still threaten me and what can threaten me I have to fuck up to let it get me to low HP. Still, better than dying.
I've been saving up scrolls of Deep Descent, as soon as I hit level 50 (max level) I'm just going to send it and dive all the way down to floor 95 in one shot. I'll grind for items a bit there, but honestly I think I could probably just take down the final two bosses and beat the game right now, I am *very* strong.

different anon, so after struggling on this puzzle, i manage to figure out a way to clip past the blocks in the room that the puzzle leads to. initially i tried to solve the puzzle from there but that does'nt work either and i had to clip back into the room again to complete the rest of the dungeon. problem is you need to solve the puzzle to make a path to the left hand side (at least i think that what supposed to happen) during the after boss escape sequence because the room i clipped through gets surrounded in poison water. i found my self softlocked. so i had to revert to my save before the boss and now have to figure out the puzzle.

I haven't gone all the way down to 95 yet, I stopped off in the 80s for some test fights and honestly this is a brutal struggle.
They hit like a runaway freight train, I can deal with that.
The monsters all have like 3k to 7k hp each, I can deal with that.
They all have a 1 in 3 or 4 or whatever chance each round to breathe a ton of fire damage on me, or hit me with a nether bolt for 200 damage, or whatever the fuck, I can deal with that.
The problem is the fuckers who also have a 1 in 3 chance to summon similar monsters, which when I get unlucky summon other summoners in an infinite loop and suddenly there's 18 ancient dragons each the size of a small hill surrounding me. That I can't deal with, I can't kill them fast enough to stop the plague even with a *slay dragon* weapon.
>>
>>581006523
it wasn't really a full wall clip, but two corners of floor tiles are touching in the right top corner, getting though is block, so i used a block i could manipulate and spamming the object spawn and object swap wand and the leaf in a diagonally motion eventually allowed me to clip through. still have to get the 2nd bottle myself.

>>581003251
i have to rotate the color block so the blue side faces up and get it into the top right corner (where the block is) using object swap wand that's projectile can go through walls. all while turning the yellow block blue by stepping on them or rolling the block on. but they can only be stepped on once. the leaf can be used to blow the block from a distance

Help! I have a burning desire to play Ascii Sector once again, but I already know it's completely pointless. It's been a decade since its last update and the dev has completely vanished, so no more work is ever gonna be done on it. Its community has completely died off so I have no one with which to share my experiences and accomplishments. It'd be a literal waste of time to play this again, and yet I have a strong desire to do so even while aware that it'll all lead completely nowhere. Please I beg of you, save me from my self destruction by recommending me similar games with not-dead devs and not-dead communities.

yeah i was lucky there was a separate autosave file and manual save file, i was sweating for a few minutes thinking i'd screwed my run.

For those who might play this in future, you need to go behind the block using the 4 upside L shape tiles then blow it with the lead and then swap with it using the wand. you may need to copy one of the blocks before you start the puzzle for extra swap links. bit of trial and error after that to get the cube into the right most blank tile using the leaf and wand.

>Oh, a korean porn TD? I'll give it a look.
I wish. More like ecchi, but even then it feels pretty light.
It is a good game though imo.
I like how the different chapters/worlds have different gimmicks, and how you can shape the path. Though for the latter I eventually just shaped the most boring path anyway, there is supposed to be more coming, maybe that has an endless mode or something where you actually have enough waves to make something more.
>>
>>581041163
>you can shape the path
Oh, so... the longer the path, the lower your score?
>>
>>581041368
No. You put blocks which is the base for the tower, you can't place towers anywhere. And the blocks costs money too. Income is per wave.
And these blocks shapes the route.

So you can like block off a route to force them to take a longer path, things like that. Some maps have multiple spawn points too. And you get full refund, so part of it is rebuilding in between waves to face new threats.
And your avatar, the pink girl, also moves around and shoot things too.
Actually come to think of it, it's basically like anime/ecchi X-Morph. Though not exactly the same, X-Morph allows you to laser fence between towers to block off a route for free. Here you need to actually pay.

I settled my second planet today, which means my passive income is going to be a lot higher now, and I'll be able to send resources/ships between them during the night to keep my stuff safe.
Still don't have the tech to make recyclers to scavenge/steal debris fields yet, which is a bit of a pain. Smashing people's fleets is the best part of the game, but there's no point yet if I can't loot them. They're later in the tech tree than I remember, probably to disincentivize earlygame aggression against people who bother to make military (undefended players are free farm, which I've been making liberal use of)
Might blogpost as bumps if it's not seen too low-tier.

For the tower defense lads - https://store.steampowered.com/app/310510/Deathtrap/

Been playing this.
>Basically just sci-fi darkest dungeon
>instead of four niggas in a row it's final fantasy type 2 dudes front row 2 dudes back row.
>To make up for everyone taking ridiculous amounts of damage every fight, you heal in between fights to max health. In return your dudes accumulate fatigue which reduces their max health,
>There's an initative mechanic where every unit, ally or enemy, has a yellow bar that fills up as they go about their turns. If it fills to maximum that unit can take an additional action on their turn, and certain abilities trade off damage for initative damage.
>There's a combo mechanic where a friendly unit that kills an enemy unit get a stack of combo which expires at the end of that round(as in when all units have taken their actions). Allies can use that combo stack with specific skills to deal more damage, so you use that skill and the ally with the combo stack also attacks and there are passives to improve your combo attack to deal more poison or initiative damage or whatever else.
>Dudes level up nearly every mission, at level 10 they can evolve into a superior class and then 20 into another class. I haven't yet reached this but for example your "Miles"(assault rifle+knife dude) seems to have a path where he can spec into the knife, dealing guaranteed bleed stacks and completely building off melee.
>Your leftover base dudes can idle or go on passive missions to gain exp/gear.
>almost all debuffs or buffs I can see cap at ten stacks and then evolve into a stronger debuff, for example 10 stacks of bleed evolves into "deep wound" which in addition to its damage, never appears to tick down unless cleansed and reduces crit damage.
>Isn't remotely as stylish as DD but I like the mechanics so far. Artstyle is a bit hit and miss and I suspect some tweening was used to "animate" the portraits but some of the chicks(my sniper) look hot.

Oh yeah one part that I like with the class spec part(because leveling up gives you skill points and you get to pick and choose what passives or skills you want, which amplify specific other skills and basically put you down a playstyle, poison medic, DoT support techie, instant support higher cooldown techie, etc) is that each class has two weapons(Miles has rifle/sword, Sniper has pistol/DMR, medic has the poison injector and the medlab) and each of your skills scale off one or the other, so a bleed melee dude will want a good blade and a heal heavy medic will want a good medlab.

That's the biggest thing here. Some of these dragons and stuff breathe fire for 1600 damage, which I can double stack resist for to reduce to 1/9th of that, but not having to worry about it at all is better. It might also stop them burning up my scrolls and spellbooks but I'm less sure about that.

How much character customization is in there compared to Dorkest Dongeon? Something I despised about DD was how they tried to have character creation but fucked it up by making everyone far too specific with their barks and behavior, and then they added Crimson Court trinkets that were basically tied to the "original backstories", and then they dropped all pretense with the second game, which they still fucked up.

It isn't a good survival crafting game either since none of the survival crafting mechanics are well designed. It's all bloat to disguise the fact that the developers can't make a good game to save their lives, and are just distracting their retarded fans from this by making updates that do nothing of value.

Your chocobo looks weird.
Also no. Since Nioh there still was only one version of a stage on each difficulty as far as i remember.
Here every difficulty after beating the story is more of a spectrum. So Chaos all the quests go up to level 300, on Bahamut to 400 and Gilgamesh 500.
And you need to unlock each level of a stage with anima crystals(which you also need a shit ton of to do any kind of meaningful build progression) but thankfully beating higher level versions gives you all the rewards of lower levels.
But the game punishes you stupidly hard for being way under the recommended gear level.
so you find the cheesiest side mission possible and break it wide open by immediately jumping to whatever the highest gear level currently is. And then you just need to figure out which stages have the job limit releases you want.
Everything but the highest level just immediately seems pointless. Maybe it is just a me issue and always optimizing the fun out of everything if given the opportunity.
I also generally like engaging more with team ninja games as they release so you aren't immediately aware of DLC1/2/3 difficulty and what you currently have is the end of it for now.
At least for nioh1/2/SoP. I haven't really touched anything since from them.

Followup, not a fan of the difficulty. Like I said it's meant to be darkest dungeon-esque but fights occupy the 2 awful extremes of turn based games where it's either braindead and incredibly slow, drawn out fights where you still can't go completely brain off because mistakes can get you killed(if you've played Operencia the Stolen Sun you probably know exactly what I mean, it's when fights take like 4 minutes a piece and it's the same strategy and enemy types to focus every time and if you deviate from that you can get fucked) or "holy shit this guy just hit me for 40 damage and ignored my armor".
The ambush mechanic is just absolute shit. There's nothing you can do to influence whether you've been ambushed or not and spawning in enemies with practically 100% hitchance, a higher dodge chance(in a game where 80% seems to miss a fair amount and 60% might as well be impossible odds) and a retardedly higher 60+% crit chance it's just a gamble to hope that you don't get oneshot or crowd CC'd by some superfuck boss.

I wish I could refund it but I'm 6 hours deep and they refused it.

Gameplay is decent if you don't grind and end up being too strong to unga bunga enemies, but at the same time some secret/optional enemies will require a bit of grind. There is a fair share of secrets and optional enemies. Story-wise the 1st "half" is pretty charming, endearing and soulful, pretty vague description, I know, but I may end up spoiling the fun if I try to go into details, there is also a very significant plot point that I was fully expecting the usual anime trope but the character involved was able to connect the dots properly, which was pretty refreshing. The 2nd "half" is painfully boring, not bad but none of the characters nor the story itself were captivating, both were pretty much played by the books, but barely any anime tropes from what I recall, so if there was a fair share of them, at least I can say they were not the egregious ones.
"Decent" is probably an apt adjective to it. It was not great, but for the most part I was pretty happy and satisfied with my time with it.

what game?
>>
In Ogame, thanks to my overnight resource collection I've been able to afford Impulse Drives lv4 and Combustion Drives lv6, which were my final techs remaining to unlock recyclers and cruisers
Cruisers are possibly the most significant power spike in the game, even moreso than death stars, because they're anti-trash units that have multiple attacks per turn against light fighters and rocket launchers, the most common earlygame units and defences. Together with recyclers' ability to harvest debris fields, they mark the point where hitting other players' fleets becomes profitable in its own right, even if their planet has no resources.
Unfortunately they require deuterium in their construction, which I have a severe shortage of due to my spawn point. My second planet will be helping, but even with their combined output it'll still take over an hour to produce the resources for 1 cruiser, so today I'm going to be producing a few recyclers instead. They also require deuterium, but this server has deut in debris fields and it takes less than 1 cargo hold of debris for a recycler to pay for itself.
Also, in the night the players around me have started to deploy their own second planets. If I was feeling mean I could hit their colonies while they're still building them up, but it's more profitable to wait until their production is better - defences get outscaled in the long run, and there's still plenty of inactive farm.
Also, the guy who's been keeping pace with me has joined a small alliance. In the next day or so I'm going to have to decide whether I want to join them, or start raiding him. He hasn't responded to my comms or buddy request, so I'm expecting the latter.
Thanks for reading my blog

It was college that got me into it back in the day. I went to an IT school where we were always at computers, so me and the boys all joined together and played until we inevitably got smashed by someone much stronger than us hard enough that recovering was a long and painful road. Half of us made it to death stars, but the dad of one of my friends joined as well for shits and giggles and ended up getting seriously, seriously hooked and ruthlessly dominated his area of the universe, quickly matching and bypassing us all.
>>581160660
It's a dumb reason, but I have massive nostalgia for the original ogame so I haven't looked into any reboots.
As far as player count goes, the live version seems to be okay. I spawned about halfway through galaxy 4 and there are ~10 active players within a few systems. The percentage of people who leave almost immediately seems a lot higher than I remember back in the day, but that might just be because Veritate only opened about a month ago and in the past I played on established universes.

My dude, I remember I could spend months raiding low level players that left. That wouldn't having to deal with actual playing players.
I if there's more people leaving, you have enough players to pact raids between each other to farm. Like in the last few months of Lords of Atelia. Which was one of the browser MMO based off a source engine mod. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISOTX

I guess my memory's filtered them out, then.
It annoys me seeing so many earlygame obviously inactive players because by the time they get i status and cede their newbie protection they'll be barely worth the fleet slot to loot them for all they've got, and most of these guys have 0 score so it's not like they have production buildings to replenish their resources, or even produce deut which I fucking need.

When I was a primary school-aged kid, the mother of one of my friends was a hardcore AOE2 player who absolutely wrecked me the one time she allowed me to play against her on LAN. I still remember it was a 4-way FFA between me, her, and a couple of medium AIs. She focused on taking out the AIs first to give me time to build up, and said something to the effect of "Once I've beat them, I'm coming for you, you know". Ended up being the first and only player I've ever seen utilize cannon galleons effectively in the Age of Kings ruleset. Probably helps that I was a dumb 9-year-old, but still. I was impressed.

It's a "deckbuilder" in the same way Wizard of Legend is, as in it's not really a deckbuilder, your skills are just shaped like cards.
It's a lot like Wizard of Legend, actually, in that it's an action battlemage game. I liked the combat a lot. Maybe someone else will like it too.

I'm kind of stuck in a rut.

On the one hand, I'm basically 95% confident that I could go beat the final boss in an hour or two right now if I really wanted to, I've gotten that strong and am immune to the basic four elements, resist everything else and have 37 base speed.
On the other hand I kind of really don't want to, a bunch of my equipment is quite frankly complete trash and I'm just being held up by the rings of power mostly, I'm hoping to find a few specific pieces to upgrade with but I'm having no luck and am just spinning my wheels here.
Main problems with my equipment still are that I'm missing sustain strength so everything with reduce strength on touch is fucking me up, and my dexterity is really low because I'm having to sacrifice a few key equipment slots for shit just to plug a few resist holes. I want to fix those if I can help it.

Gonna fleetsmash someone today. My military is getting strong enough that a lot of previously "honourable" targets are falling out of hp status, but those people aren't worth fleetsmashing anyway so it's just helping me filter.
Other than that, today will be building up my third planet to somewhat usable production, or at least enough deuterium production to use it as a staging ground for my cruisers. My first 2 planets are only a system away from each other, but my third one is in another galaxy so travel times are longer, but it gives me a lot more reach. My overall strategy will be to place pairs of planets together so I can be a bit spread out, but also support my industry easily.

Trying out Hope 01 and it seems okay. You lose everything when you die and there's no walkback but the game is all about digging up raw material for your mega 3d printer Prey(2017) style so you can just poof a new gun and boolets and bandages and shit as long as you take it home at least once. It's an extremely vulgar gooner mod with new enemies and "grappling" mechanics that make the game much harder. Way more stress is accumulated, your party is moved around a lot more, heroes are taken out of your control, and more.
Changes a bunch of other stuff too, I'm playing blind and discovering it as I go. The Old Road took me 6 retries before I finally got both my heroes out.
The skins the mod uses are mid imo so I replaced them.

I think it bears repeating, this is an EXTREMELY vulgar mod. I'm no prude but it's a bit much.
The enemy all the way to the right is a mod addition. I use XelSword's stuff for hero skins and I read on the mod wiki that it apparently has integration for a few class mods so I added those (the blue oni).
So far I've been able to enjoy it for both the porn and the mechanical changes, although again this shit is HARD.

Well the quick rundown is
>three resources - metal, crystal and deuterium
>all three are used in construction (but deut is the less commonly used one, it's the vespene gas or aoe2 gold equivalent)
>mines passively generate them on a planet
>can raid other players for their resources, the max amount is limited by cargo space and how honourable the fight is (dishonourable fights have a hard cap of 50% of their total resources)
>fights auto resolve, the calculation is pretty intricate though, and sometimes the server crashes for a while when top players throw hundreds of thousands of ships at each other
>destroyed ships - but not defences, unless the universe rules allow it - have a portion turned into debris fields, which anyone can loot with recyclers
>have to research techs and raise buildings to certain levels to unlock different units/buildings
>can have up to 9 planets in the endgame, but the realistic softcap is 7. Planets never change hands.

Nearly every icon, description, status effect, location name, quest name, hero call-out, and much more are replaced with some kind of sexual thing.
If you are porn rotted this might be right up your alley. To me it feels like vivziepop tier spam of sex jokes and innuendos.
This is in comparison to something like Deadpool which, while vulgar, gives you enough normality around him to bounce off it and give it some balance.
Not like it's enough to ward me off though. It's funny that this isn't even the most you can do pornify this game .

Here is a status screen for reference: https://files.catbox.moe/my2md4.PNG
>>
>>581355197
You never played any of those persistent brownser rts games? They are not that much different than some modern mobile slop.

Quick run down, your settlements produce resources per hour/second, you can upgrade your resources buildings and build armies, and use armies to steal resources from other players. Everything takes a long time (like many real life hours or days). Then there are defenses, espionage, building new settlements, some games allow you to steal/conquer other player settlements.

Actually Dark Vador.
Don't ask why, it comes form an era where names were translated. We didn't have Mickael Myers, we had Michel Meyer. We didn't have Jason Voorhees, we had Jacky Voorhees. We didn't have Freddy Krueger, we had Fred Krueger.
And we didn't have Chewbacco, but "Chicot".

I completely forgot they were making a Graveyard Keeper 2. From what I can tell from the demo it's.....exactly the same fucking game but with a different map. Like you're even crafting the same items, tending to and improving your graveyard the same way, dissecting corpses the same way, and so on. Surely there's new key features I haven't seen yet, but the core game seem exactly the same. The first game and its DLCs have so much content I can't imagine anyone craving for even more of the same. Oh yeah it now has voice acting. At least they kept the pixel artstyle instead of replacing it with some generic 3D crap.

they've put out two games too, west of loathing and shadows over loathing. i haven't tried either but a friend really liked west
>>
>>581410876
West and Shadows are both phenomenal. Weakest issue is the RPG combat, it's trivial to get broken to the point nothing matters and it's all intensely slow, but most of the exploration rewards (other than enjoyment of the writing) is combat-related. That said, Shadows has maybe the single best antijoke that I've ever seen in a game and fewer than 5% of players see it.

The tutorial area is Chekov's Farm, and on his mantle is a rifle. Layer 1 joke, simple reference. In the midgame, if you make certain choices at the college you can meet the farmer's daughter and recruit her as a party member. Completely missable. If you have her in your party long enough, you get her personal quest. You go back with her to the farm and she takes the family rifle, and it's a mediocre combat ability. Layer 2 joke, you do shoot Chekov's gun and it's whatever. At the end of the game, depending on your quests you have a variety of options of how to beat the final boss, including abdicating to your companions. If she's your companion, she has the rifle, and you choose her to take over, she readies Chekov's Gun and one-shots the final boss. Complete anticlimax at the end of a 30-hour story. Level 3 joke.

ai can't make proper pixel art without mixels. and certainly not with proper dithering patterns.

maybe it's traced over AI art but that would be too much effort for an AI shitter.

that's a shame. i actually liked the demonic intelligence disgaea 6 introduced(despite all it's many other shortcomings)
and that's kinda the one point Disgaea 7 fucked up by not allowing you to use D.I. in the item world, where i think programming an AI to deal with the randomized nature of Item world is the one really fun application for it instead of making hyper specific flowcharts for the grinding stages. And PvP I suppose...
But yeah, dungeon automata looks a bit too simplistic.
>>
>>581459281
Perfect pixel grid aligment is one obvious tell, but not even the biggest tell. The most obvious ones are the consistent, unhallucinated(!) print moire patterns on the background image asset and the way they are applied. That's even more impossible for generative sloppa than getting pixel grids right. Arguably it could have been done in post over AI-genned background, but yeah, there's clear design intent and effort put into everything. The general design consistency over different asset types all the way to UI and typeface choices also suggests competency which would go against the use of slop.

>>581459926
the background looks like 3d with some effects done on it ot limit it down to only a handful of shades of grey, and then each shade of grey gets its own pattern.
My gut says the sprites are AI and then manual work is done to them. Might even just be AI with some pixelizing/dither/color limiting filters ontop.
Again though it looks fine so I don't give a shit, I'm not a luddite who hates AI on principled grounds, I hate AI when it makes ugly shit (95% of the time it does this)
>>
>>581460219
Yeah, edited 3D scene screenshot would be my guess as well for the bg.

The character sprites, though, don't have anything indicating AI use. But they are obviously from a different art source than the backgrounds due to different, more complex shading via varied dithering patterns.
I would guess the characters are done by an artist and the backgrounds are sourced from 3D screenshots with some edits by the programmer to try match the artist's pixel art style, hence the flat print moire patterns on each color layer imitating dithering and color depth reduction imitating a more muted version of the palette fit for background use. If both asset types were edited by the game programmer, they would have been edited in the same manner yet they are clearly distinct.

You'll be either angry or maliciously happy to know that the last game update a few days ago broke literally every mod.
The mod authors have to rebuild them and reupload new versions.

Also, in what I think is an unrelated problem, I've been unable to connect to the server I was playing on. I don't talk to anyone there, but it's nice to see other people's buildings. Now, it's giving me an error about the server running a wrong version. I only hope it's some kind of configuration error that someone else will eventually fix, because I have no idea what I could possibly do about it. There's no way for me to check what version of the game the server is running, or to download a specific version from Steam even if I did know.

I never got very deep into StS. Played the first one for a few hours, got to floor 50 with Ironclad and Silent on my first try of each, died to the boss on those tries, tried Defect and died in the midgame, and said to myself "neat game, makes me want to play Magic" and then got back into Magic.

Update with the only tiny scrap of forward progress I've had in nearly 3 days: Found this sword.
I'm not actually going to use it, it's not as good as my current weapon, BUT there are three unique Long Swords in the game and this is one of them. Remove it from the pool and the odds of getting one of the others goes up, and what I want is one of the other two Long Swords.
This was a '3' weighted unique, the others are also a 3 and a 1, so now the odds of getting the one I want with the next unique LS have gone up from 1 in 7, to 1 in 4. It's something.

Ogame day summary
>woke up, realised I'd accidentally sent my main fleet away for 18 hours instead of 9 hours because I forgot to account for the return trip, fuck
>bought some important researches, most notably Hyperspace Drive 4 which now allows me to make battleships, the standard solid combat unit for the entire rest of the game
>attempted to crush someone's fleet, except they came online and moved their ships at the last minute, but didn't take their resources so I still walked away with ~280k in assorted resources (including 98k deuterium, which is why I attacked in the first place)
>started Espionage Tech 7 with my ill-gotten gains, which makes me harder to spy on, and easier for me to spy on other people
>found a bunch of potential future targets, really badly want to hit them Right Now except I physically can't stay awake for the 6 hours it would take to get my recyclers there and back, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow and hope they don't move their ships or get fleetcrashed by somebody else in the meantime.
>continued to produce ships throughout the day, my current main fleet is 16 heavy fighters, 33 cruisers, 34 small cargoes and 12 large cargoes. Will be adding battleships to that number, probably tomorrow. Battleships cost a lot of metal, more than twice as much as a cruiser, so my own economy might finally get balanced out (I have a massive surplus of metal).
In terms of strategy, Battleships are the midgame counter to the Cruiser. They have twice as much HP and hit almost 3x as hard, but they suck against trash swarms of smaller ships because they lack rapidfire. Against not-so-numerous Cruisers though, they're kickass. They're also a safe ship for attacking into enemy gauss cannons due to their HP. Not that I've seen anyone with gauss cannons yet, but it's only a matter of time - I can make them myself.

>what sort of game is this?
Top-down isometric Roadside Picnic.
This time you are where the Tunguska Event happened. But instead of a meteor it were the Visitors from another dimension. The puccia government made an exclusion Zone around, as there are meteorological events called "Visitations", in which some funny lights happens. Everyone caught outside gets infected by Tunguska Infection, turning into ghouls. Being inside a building partially protects from it, but the ideally you need to get underground.
Then people came to the Zone to hunt those ghouls, as their body parts(brains, hearts and blood specially) can be made into serums with miraculous healing properties, and the demand is high.
You are a New York journalist, that was sent by your boss to the Zone to investigate about what is happening. And then phone back about all the juicy bits that can make for a good news article. Like the properties of the serums, what are they made off, the ghoulification So the goal of the game is doing journalist stuff, interview hunters and scientists, get their stories, discover new weird stuff, and so on. So you can report to your boss in New York.
It has a kinda novel system, in which going from map to map you are "travelling", so it takes ingame time and the character's energy. You can speed it up using transportation methods like a motorcycle or a handcart via railway. But it still consumes a lot of energy based on travel time, that you have to replenish by eating. Hence the potatoes.

When caught in a Visitation Event, you get infected. Your skin starts turning blue, your mental faculties deteriorate, and then one day you are gone. Replaced by a deep blue cannibal. A ghoul.
But their internal organs generate special substance that can be concocted into "serums", which is the whole reason you are here as a journalist.

That would be a great idea. Make a wire fence area on the surface. Put people in there. Feed them and water them until a Visitation Event happens. Once they turn into ghouls "harvest" the materials for making serums.
