Importing designs from SA to SE is quite fun, I can finally replace this shit with EM plants. They will also make modules so free
>>580856341modules in SA are literally ten times cheaper than in vanilla, I can't imagine how insane EM plants would be for SE.Legit progression-breaking stuff
>>580857785>progression-breaking stuffgoodfuck earendelI do not respect him
I have been commiting MineMogul autismMy basic conclusions are:1. When gems are not required, ONLY use fast miners2. Do NOT crush your coal before washing, as you lose out on rubies for a miniscule gain on diamonds (with a net loss)3. Gold is the only metal where wire coils are more valuable per ingot than anything else (due to pipes and threaded rods being 'realistically' useless and less valuable)Addendum: I THINK it's more valuable to put coal into shaker tables than using it for steel, since you use quite a lot. Also it would be a horrendous pain in the ass to calculate so go figure that one out for yourself if you seriously disagree>>580854806Good puzzle design, low IQ requirement for working solutions but very high ceiling to go with it. Also the (unintrusive) story is fun, very autistic main characterDefinitely one of the most accessible Zachs
>>580857954If you couldn't tell, that top right table is where you put in numbers for any given vein. The overall results are the same for anything you'll see ingame, none of them have a high enough gem chance to make a difference. The sheet does look a bit silly for coal-only veins though since the outputs go flat between products and metals
>>580857954Aren't gems always required? Not for the next unlock, but there's a huge order at the very end of like 2K each.I'm not sure at all about focusing on the money side, when all the new tech is locked behind specific deliveries.

Processor 1, optical fiber and titanium stuff finishedI also improved aluminium and iron productionI still need to upgrade silica and polycrystalline silicon production for this to reach full output and then propane at some point, it's bottlenecking my epoxy production

>>580869060It is. With this mod.https://mods.factorio.com/mod/se-ssa-i-2It is very fucking cool>can I do K2SOSASE onlyglebaNo idea try it
>>580869315I was checking and there's a specific incompatibility with SA and SE, that's kinda gaeDefinitely not an option thenthat one's interesting for a K2SE run for 2.1 though, but onlygleba has a strong SA dependency, on top of spaced out having a SA dependency already and fixing SA stuff with k2, while I'm not a fan it's still enough of a QoL to keep aroundthings WILL break even if I force those out
>>580869832I literally linked you the mod that makes it work. How else would I obtain this image then?
>>580870287anonwhat your mod does is follow the SE SA incompatibility by introducing smaller, modular mods that add the same content SA doesyou will see that the mod you linked is, as a matter of fact, incompatible with SA as a wholefor a good reason, because it adds SA *without* adding SAit's basically bypassing it to make sure to go through the SE checks while still adding the other stuffnow the issue lies in the fact that the other space age mods do require base space age (which again, is marked as an incompatibility) you see what I mean? The guy went out of his way to make sure to enable SA *features* in a base factorio environmentI'm sure it worksI'm just saying it is not going to be compatible with SA properas in, try to install any SA-only mod in your save and that will not workonlygleba is a SA mod

I like how clean the dead end stations look, stackers are ugly.
>>580878473That design's gonna need a stacker for getting 4 stacked green belts out of 2 wagons though.
>>580878473>>580879071What if I did two parallel stations that take trains alternatively? I also hate how much space stackers take, so I delegated them only to the most high throughput stations.
>lemme see if I can turret creep before they get in my pollution cloudYeah that's not gonna happen.Time to plant down some turrets to the northern front, then go and get some jellynuts from the south to feed my boilers until project greenhouse is a go.
oh jesus what do you mean MEDIUM STOMPERWHY IS HE IN MY POLLUTION CLOUD THERE SHOULD BE NO NESTS HERE
>>580880626That can work, but it will also matter how far away your provider stations are. A huge benefit of stackers are how they ameliorate the distance between source and destination. You can use them as pseudo-stackers by having them be an intermediary depot, but that also looks kind of ugly imo (you'll also have a bit more delay since they'll have to clear the whole T-intersection before the other one can leave).
>>580877984My stations are boring as fuck currently. I do want to make them look better but being that I'm placing everything by hand efficiency takes priority still here.
>>580881954alright, he got in and wrecked my shit, reloaded a 5 minute old autosave and that just disappearedit'll hold until it won't, and by then I'll be able to move back down anyway, the pollution cloud will have dissolved
Oh god now I see itI shouldn't have cleared those biter nests half an hour agoI need to fuck off right nowget those fucking modules researched before I'm dead
>>580883997>"2.1 nest creep isn't bad">the 2.1 nest creep5 fucking nests *inbetween* the biter nestsI guess this was the alternative reality in which I didn't actually delete thoseand they still spawn those in because I think pentapods don't count biter nests and vice versait's beautiful I'm not complaining, I'm enjoying myself mind you, I think K2 weaponry is already overpowered to hell and back so I stand a chance at even killing small stompers with default k2 turrets if push comes to shoveanyway managed to get speed modules unlocked, move down to the south and then just kinda work my way around pollution reduction around my factory
>>580851075It's fun.
finallyI didn't wanna splurge out on the extra 300 red&green for medium poles and the red belt so this is actually suboptimal but it will have to do for nowwhich is good because there's a pentapod nest just a couple chunks below this setup

>>580952113I don't see any gems what are you on about
The concept I was working with my onlygleba build is pretty simplebecause of how it's coded, in the "old" way where spores would be absorbed by plants, onlygleba technically lets you create pollution absorption zones a la nauvis as you would with treesthis is what I did in my previous onlygleba run, only the game had default settings, so my boompuffs would absorb a ton of pollutionthis is greatly fucked by death world settings, because pollution is much harder to get rid of through natural means and by default, you can get only around ~9 pollution/min with a fully enclosed chunkthose chunks are also inaccessible because you're fully, manually planting them in each available walkable tile and those plants to take damage, differently from nauvis trees thoughthey don't "get damaged" but they straight up die (get deleted from the map) once they reach a specific, arbitrary amount of pollution absorbed, the equivalent it would get to kill a tree in the meantime, I think, or something morethey last quite a while but they need to be replanted, basicallydon't get me wrong 9/m is pretty good, on death world water averages at 1.5/m per chunk of full wateralso harvesting the plants creates the same amount of pollution you would do harvesting a yumako or jellynut, it's 15 spore/pollution per harvestI was using stingfrond because they're actually the easiest option to propagate, as they get their own artificial soil and the nettles you get from them rot into their own seed and you always get more than you started withslipstack polyps are also good but they require 100 spoilage on average for a seed, which makes them very unviable early onbut the main issue is that while this strat is perfectly viable, if time consuming, it uses an entire chunk for a 9 pollution per minute reductiona singular greenhouse with 3 speed modules gives 12.5 reduction in a 7x7 footprint, or 5 without, so 2 unprodded greenhouses rival thatwould definitely work better with default settings
also I'm sorry*what*
>>580954757yeah this mod's a little half-baked reallylike let's ignore the elephant in the room of the burning bush grown in a greenhouse from wood and wateryou can grow slipstacks in it to make infinite stone from water as wellI'll just ignore these recipesanother reason why I lament the fact that recipe editor is 2.0 only stillthere's even an actual researchable recipe to grow the yumako and jellynut inside the greenhousethat one is just hella gayyou're removing all the challenge from glebawhoever coded this is a fucking pansy

>>580917291very strange. it makes the same weird builds/mistakes that the twitch guy's (danielv1234) astra did>buildings always separated by one tile>mining drills connected to their own personal belts feeding into "main" belts>belts interrupted by random inserters>overusing logistics botsand many others i'm sure. it just looks so eerily similar to the previous playthrough

>>580959034Many achievements were only added later on. Older players all use QoL mods at the very least, which doesn't let you earn them.
>>580959034>but do most people never actually get far in this game?I genuinely and literally never found a reason to use a spidertron, even in space age for the most partboth navuis and gleba are solved through artillery and they are fully stationary, there is no reason to have anything that moves on ground with its own roboport, short of having train outposts on nauvisI tried to make one after gleba, and I was like "okay but why"the space map interface is clunky as hell, if I could actually use the spidertron to \interface\ as if I was there on the planet then I'd get it at least, but as is, it's just an expensive roboport on legs that can shoot rockets if you fucked up something
>>580959618Artillery needs more logistic investment and building rail to work properly, spidertrons just need to be built in a mall and they solve the bugs forever.

Spidertrons are cheap and you can make groups of them so that they can carry far more inventory and build far faster than the player can.

New silica production was the straw that broke my power gridGuess it's time to upgrade my power production, since I already have a lot of them in storage I'll just spam wind turbines 2 for now
Well the good thing is that with krastorio weaponry it is definitely doablethe bad thing is that those are medium stompers and I only have damage upgrade and speed 2, and my ammo is sourced out of fucking manually dug out rocks at the momentand before blue science the ore recipes are absolute garbagio because you only get 1 plate out of 2 ore so that doubles my demand by defaultanyway I got bored of playing optimally because it's annoying and what I'm thinking is I need to start finding a way to automate ores without creating a fuckhuge pollution cloud before k2's air filters, which are too far ahead, and if push comes to shove I'll try to kill a few nests
Wind is ridiculously efficient in Nullius
>>581025464when it winds
In theory, this should workgreenhouse into wood, wood gets turned into seeds and then is burnt for 100 kj, much more pollution efficient than getting rid of the wood altogethernet -30 pollution/min, so the equivalent of two harvested jellynuts a minute (15/plant)for 1 yellow belt of plates I need around 100 a minutethe setup is compact enough that if I manage to find a good enough chunk I should be able to double the jellynut production and the pollution removal, to get a red belt of iron plates yumako is 200/min so that's 4 plants, which means that I'm capped at a yellow belt of plates even on a perfect chunk, but still, this is way better than I thought I'm going to start this run over and not to batch crafting like a fucking animal and stop harvesting stromatolites, and just focus on the bare minimum of unlocking and making 50 speed modules and then do this
>>581029936I haven't played space age yet (playing a mod stuck on 1.1), but isn't the time based evolution factor on gleba a lot higher than nauvis? Playing it slow and steady seems like it'll leave you with your pants down when shit hits the fan.
Steel production now underway. Despite lack of intentional design, I was able to route all the raw materials up through the portions of the machine that make red and green science. I should probably make more effort to design it intentionally that way going forward.

>>581032107gleba enemies are only attracted to spores, which are only emitted by farms. Given they're on the edge of your base normally, worst case they kill them and you rebuild with your seed stockpile.
>>581032107That is the other reason why I'm restarting, on top of this behemoth enemies makes the clock harsher as well, and I think it might be compounding with death world toobut also no matter how you look at it pentapods will expand with the new 2.1 mechanics and just lightly grazing a nest with the tiniest bit of fart in their general direction will bring an enemy whose SMALL version has the more HP than a default behemoth biter by the time you have access to yellow ammo alone without damage upgrades. Or flamethrowers. Or anything really. So it pays to just try to negate your pollution cloud.I was getting medium stompers at <20% evo from the egg rafts, so predictably angering *any* pentapod nest is a bad idea, and they do not respect biter nests for spawning conditions, so just leaving the biter nests while removing pentapod ones to get an "easier" enemy is not an option either.I was trying to look around and I was trying to find out ways to negate pollution in default onlygleba (other than planting entire chunks of trees to act as a shield like I did last time because that won't fly in death world) and I just realized that moduled (and beaconed, I guess) biochambers actually suck up quite a lot of pollution, which might be the more orthodox solution later on.
>>581032107But yeah it should go without saying that this is a modded game and default gleba does not A) need this much thoughtB) work like this at allBut theoretically, you get the option to do something similar in base SA (modded etc etc, this only works with onlygleba) but it will be egregiously hardera biochamber with tier 3 prod modules will suck up 6 pollution a minute each, using 1 jellynut harvest, turning it into spoilage and then turning that spoilage into nutrientsbut that only achieves a net zero, you use 15 pollution to suck up 15 pollution (spoilage to nutrients machine runs for 1.5 minutes tier 3 modules aren't hard to make on gleba, with biters on but I'll have to think of something smarterI think delivering a sacrificial batch of bioflux to turn into nutrients and turning said nutrients into spoilage with tier 3 prod mods would gives a much better yield but it would complicate the build something fierce
finished the tutorialnow i just need to find anything at all to get me out of low power hellsurely all these new power options will save me>every single thing is locked behind intermetallicssurely geothermal will save metomorrow, anyway
>>581064596also: my next steel recipe isn't until fucking logi science. this recipe sucks so much man. at least i have a more direct coke option nowalso getting vrauks up means i have the best animal in the gamecaravans will fix everything
>>581063985I guess you could use tree seeds, those are a biochamber option that only requires wood, which does not create pollution when harvestedonly a default agritower can only plant a theoretical maximum of 47 trees every ten minutes, and a single biochamber with tier 3 prod mods to slow it down and make it fatter will make 45 seeds a minute, which kind of defeats the purpose of having the biochamber run continuously to clear the airI guess nutrients from biter eggs could be an option actuallyNutrients from biter eggs yields around ~900 nutrients a minute for each bioflux used, which is outrageously good, and you're always going to have excess eggs anyway. Which means you can really just belt those nutrients to let them spoil and turn that spoilage into nutrients continuously, with a biochamber requiring 45.5 nutrients a minutethat means that you can supply and ship enough nutrients, with a singular bioflux, mind you, that do not need to survive the trip in the first place, almost 20 biochambers! That can remove a total of 120 pollution, which means that this process is fully scalable for onlygleba by default and might actually be better than my current greenhouse setup and completely kosher for an onlygleba regular run Which is great. But it's still past blue science. So you're kind shit out of luck until then.
>>581064596grats anon>surely all these new power options will save meliquid boilers from acetylene are a decent py1 option, geothermal is much better, and when geothermal runs out you're going to use a shitton of t1 coal plants until you can actually use the more serious oil plants, but that's much later on in the line>caravans will fix everythingcaravans are criminally underutilized in the py community, especially after the interrupt and general buffseveryone uses trains and makes gigantic basesmeanwhile you can keep it local with caravans and get rewarded for your smaller footprint
>>581064596Tiny amounts of intermettalics. Maybe just hand-feed enough for one stack and get power solved.
>>581066349>Tiny amounts of intermettalicsit's more being concerned with the metals i need for it but haven't set up yetthat said it looks like that's only nexelit and antimony, which are both some effort but not too terribleand nickel but nickel's completely freeit'll probably destroy my aluminum supply but whatever

at which point do I decide it's not worth collecting more? I've been getting a lot of rocks by scraping the bottom of the iron coal copper and it slows my factory...
>>581086297looks like you have a whole mountain of the stuff left? don't scrape the bottom until you're done with that.
>>581087348I thought if I could get to the bottom and fill it as I advance in the mountain i'd make more space to build and it'd take less time to fill back. I guess I can also get some more excavators, I've been holding back to avoid fuel/maintenance crisis but I should be fine for a while now
>>581086297Well for starters you could start digging only where there's ore left instead of dredging up the whole pit.Use the terrain inspector to see at which height most of the ore is, dig to that level and then start picking leftovers by only digging on the ore spots. It's more micro-intensive but at least you don't flood your sorter with stone.Another option is to set up two different digging teams: one that focuses on the easy ore and the other that focuses on removing the bulk of stone and dirt so that ore is easier to dig for the first team. If you play with unloading priorities on the stone storage you can quickly get rid of unwanted materials pretty quickly and use them for quicker land reclamation or new farmland for example.Anyway I don't understand why you are scraping the bottom of the pit when there's a literal mountain of easy ore right next to it

>>581090082>>581088929Please forgive me learning the basics, I'm trying my best. >>581121137I suspect he's worried about loading the mixed quality scrap into recyclers, inserters only pick up 1 at a time and then wait, unless you get more greens in a row or you override hand stack size to 1.
>>581121137>why miners would be bad?unless you're being a madman and doing sushi, recycling quality scrap will add extra overhead
>>581092284Trucks depend on how far they need to go.For low-volume resources like sand or limestone you can get away with one excavator and one truck, for higher volume stuff (iron and coal if you are still using it for power) start with two trucks per excavator and work from there.Build a loose storage right next to the ore sorter dedicated to whatever resource you want to mine and set a <75% alert on it, this will be your performance gauge for the whole mine. it should always be full or oscillating between full and above 75% anyway. If it drops below that (and it's not because you are flooding the sorter with unwanted resources) watch your excavators, if they spend a lot of time waiting for trucks to come back, then add trucks, otherwise add more excavators. On the other hand, if there's a line of trucks parked at the mine control tower full of ore that can't be dumped because the sorter is already full, then maybe send some of those trucks to do something else.If the buffer storage drains empty too quickly once a problem arises (maybe a temporary surge in ore consumption or trucks got stuck somewhere or too much stone is being mined), build more buffer and set the alert on the one at the start of the chain because that's the first one that drains.
>>581122404Overhead in what form? Seems like it would just give you another roll at higher quality coming out of the recyclers.
>>581122918How is limestone low-volume? You need it for concrete, iron, glass, tofu, exhaust filtration, water filtration, maybe even more. Sand too once you get into silicon electronics, you'll need more of it than iron.

3.30 hours in, we have achieved plantation statusit's yellow belts supplied by wood electric poles but I already set it up with red undergrounds (which were extremely expensive in my ore-less situation) for the future upgrade to red belts since the fruits lose ~5% due to spoilage on the trip alone with yellow belts, but againI have no fucking resources and I'm doing this to get someI can't even research radars so I plopped down a sentinel just to get an idea of what's going on in theresadly I am also way too poor to place the towers in a chunk properly because I have no access to enough landfill or seeds so my pollution removal is going to be relatively spottyI will have to test just how bad it is
>>581123307It's used in a lot of stuff but it doesn't mean it's high volume, in fact it's used in tiny quantities in pretty much everything besides glass manufacturing, and concrete is only used for construction supplies meaning they get consumed in highly irregular bursts. Absolutely nowhere near the same league as iron, plus the anon I was responding to seems to be still in early-mid game so it's completely pointless to talk about all the late-game uses for limestone.I've gotten to a 5k pop island and purple science with a single T2 excavator and a single yellow truck without ever needing to upgrade. I'm going nuts doing it.
>>581162212Oh yeah forgot it hit 1.0 a few days ago. Surprisingly solid factory game where you can make some really cool looking compact designs. It even had more QoL features when it entered early access than Satisfactory had in its lifetime, then again that's a really low bar.Though I was pretty disappointed when I realised the whole shop and money mechanic quickly becomes irrelevant. At first I assumed you had to consider cost against ease of building.....but no, you drown in money no matter what. There's a reputation system that increases by having a large variety of products in stock.....except reputation only increases sales, and the biggest money drain is making products to sell.....so what's the point again? There are also random delivery quests which does nothing except waste your time fetching random stuff; unless you're doing the achievement to beat the game without ever opening shop there's no reason to bother with them except the few that unlock stuff. It also has my least favourite feature of factory games where things you make are quickly rendered irrelevant by the next tier of things you unlock later. Yeah I totally love spending effort to make a good design only to tear it down two hours later.

Actually what's the best way to deal with fields? One field for one product? Or should I rotate products between fields and filter out the products on their way to processing
>>581192716mouse over the roboport
>>581193041oh, that
>>581192779Or maybe one field for two product and the processing facilities right next to it?
>>581179972Yes, do you even game?
>>581192779>>581193774Fields always need rotation or they a huge fertility penalty, and as you get better fields you can pretty can a whole lot of production in them, and usually end up with more than one product or another that you can handle. For this reason people (me included) usually prefer to have them be served by trucks only and let them decide wherever to go, specially because there are a lot of cross recipes where they used in and including serving your markets.Of course one can get creative, use sorting, or perhaps products one bulk/box per field
>>581192779Definitely use crop rotation, start with two products and add as required. You can even mix in green manure to intentionally reduce the amount of crops produced to fine tune your needs. You need to remember a few things:- food demand is split equally among all food categories and it's then split again within each category.- when you add a new food source in a category you already have foods for, the demand for all other foods in the same category goes down but the rest is unchanged- when you add a new food category that was previously unused, the demand for all other categories goes down- rotating multiple crops in the same field is always more efficient than planting a single crop with green manure mixed in, and it's massively more efficient than just planting a single crop with no rotation at allIf you want the flexibility to adjust which crop is planted where and in which quantity in the future, you need to funnel all your foods in the same processing area and then make sure all excess is dealt with somehow. The easiest thing to do is to just dump all excess into a digester, but later on you will unlock more uses for excess food that will allow you to make more food types. If you use belts (highly recommended) then use splitters and sorters to always prioritise food to the settlement and then filter the overflow to be further treated and then eventually recycled. The important bit is the recycling, if it can't keep up the overflow belts will eventually clog and potentially stop certain foods from being delivered to your population.
>>581196398>>581196054it's because i wanted to make some gas for my concrete production with the excess food that I wanted to belt it all, I dont want to starve my people obviously. Although I guess using priority levels would suffice
/egg/bros please give me your advice. I'm playing Factory Town 2. I've figured out there's two ways to play this game:1) focus your entire worker population on your starting island and make the smaller satellite islands production-exclusive and just bring the goods back to the main island to sell but now your workers have to commute and spend most of their waking-hours traveling and the zipline pathfinding kinda sucks2) maintain a fraction of your population on each island so workers are closer to their jobs but now you have to deal with the logistics of transferring every single good you produce to every other island you colonize (there are 7 islands in total) in order to keep their happiness up (no happiness = no more workers)what's the least painful way of approaching this? thank you!
The first nuclear freighter is operational for my 10x science runI'll probably have one running between Nauvis and each other planet, and one doing a big round going Vulcanus -> Nauvis -> Fulgora -> Aquilo -> Gleba repeat so a total of 5 freighters will be needed. It would get everything where it needs to go, even bioflux to Vulcanus for better oil processing.
>>581198661Also I'm not running out of fuel any time soonNot sure why people overcomplicate those things, bots work so well
>>581197402Yes but don't rely on food excess for critical supplies that aren't food related, that excess is better used as ingredients for more food than for gas. You can get a much more abundant and reliable supply of gas from oil than food scraps. You will get scraps no matter what, but try to keep them to a minimum and use them for something less critical, like desalinating some water to recycle back in the farms. If you don't have extra food production that can use your farm overflow, then simply deactivate some farms, tweak your crop rotation or lower fertilizer usage to reduce excess to a minimum, this saves water, fertilizer and potentially workers.

>>581201174>I've only played the first gameA big difference between the first and second games is that in the second one resource-gathering buildings such as farms, barns and mines will not gather anything AT ALL if workers aren't in them and now they have to physically walk over from their houses in order to do so. Yes, there's wagons (they can carry 40 items now but their pathfinding is dogshit and they can get stuck if bumping into each other), trains (not sure if you can build rails to connect each island I know you can't liquid pipe something from one island to another), sailboats, cargo boats. I also believe the dev intended for there to be a small population of workers on each island going by the official screenshots but holy shit keeping their happiness up like this is a massive chore since workers won't bother purchasing shit off other island's markets.

>>581200387Might as well redo the refinery already instead of tacking on some temporary food recycling that you will have to redo anyway, or just keep using coal for concrete in the meantime. Food shouldn't be relied upon until you decide to stop expanding your population or you build dedicated farms for non-food resources. When you expand the refinery, consider converting everything to hydrogen, it saves a fuckload of oil and can be used in every industrial process that takes fuel gas.

>>581206689yeah when it comes to food there's no way around it, you'll have to use a lot of belts, sorters and spltters and overflows to keep everything running while the settlement expands and the farms expand with it.The way I do it is to dump all farms into the same two shared belts (one loose, one flat), then those belts go to a convenient location where the food can be sorted.Once sorted, each food goes into its own belt and past a splitter. The priority output of the splitter goes straight to the settlement, and the non-priority goes into overflow. Now what you do with the overflow depends on your tech and your needs. You can make ethanol, food packs, tofu, animal feed, snacks and whatnot and every step of the chain needs its own splitter with overflow. Eventually all overflows end up into a line of digesters for recycling, ideally with as little scraps as possible. This system keeps the farm logistics easy because it's only two belts, but it all unravels at the processing areas and it requires an overflow that never backs up. If something backs up all the way to the sorters, then it stops all other foods from being delivered to the settlement. It's not hard to do this by any means, at the end of the day you just need enough digesters to eat up all the scraps, but it needs some periodic monitoring and some buffers here and there with alerts turned on so you aren't caught off guard when you add a farm and the overflows can't keep up.Later on you might also want to start using contracts to bring in food or to isolate certain farms for crops that won't go directly to the settlement (like mass production of animal feed or ethanol) so keep some space between buildings if you can because you'll be adding and moving things around a bit in the future.
Solvded an issue with circuits all by myself and i feel smart for once
>>581211430You don't necessarily need splitters and overflows, just let the overproduction sit in the farm. Depending on how much of it there it, it might not even be worth processing. And have a regular one belt per food type.

>>581050781that looks nice anon!
>>581213497You need an overflow if you plan on planting more than two crops. Even if you don't bother processing, overproducing a crop will clog either the flat or the loose port, so if you make like corn and potatoes on the same farm, overproduction of one will stop the other from flowing. The "don't bother with any processing or filtering" solution only works early game where you have nothing to do with the excess food and not enough food types to care, in that case yeah just straight pipe the farm into the settlement and forget about it, but it's not sustainable when you actually want to diversify and make things at scale.

>>581215025For arm 2, you can reset as soon as you're done using it. (You can even replace the drop with reset, although this doesn't save any cycles.)Why reset arm 1 at all? There's no use, all orientations are the same. The big issue here isn't the resets, though, it's arm 3, which is doing way too much:>wait for arms 1 and 2>air backbone to next bonding area>lead to bonding>lead to purification (x2)>tin to bonding>deliver to outputThe wait should go away if you reset arms 1 and 2 earlier, so they can start assembling the next air backbone while arm 3 finishes up. (Not sure if there's a risk of the next air pieces colliding with tin or getting bonded to the previous air backbone -- if so, you can fix that with a period override instruction, or just not moving the resets back all the way.) But this is only a few cycles. The big slowdown is doing all the lead moving while everything else waits. You can add another piston arm (just right of lead input) to just move the lead; have it start with lead to purification, so the tin will be available when arm 3 is ready to grab it, then move lead to bonding last, while arm 3 moves tin to bonding. (You can take the same process further, and divide the work among 2 or 3 arms, with as little as 4 cycles of work each.)Another issue is excess motion. When moving tin to bonding, you start with:>grab, move-, retract, rotate, rotate, rotate, extend, ...The retracting and extending is wasted motion. If you can find/make room to swing without retracting, you save two cycles. Often, this might involve rearranging things, e.g. move bonding glyphs a little farther apart, and lengthen the arm that swings between them, but here you actually have room, as long as you do (part of) it before the track move:>grab, rotate, rotate, move-, rotate, ...Then repeat: look at whatever arm is taking longest, and find a way to split its work with an additional arm, or to accomplish it with less movement.
>>581229050Kinda hard to do at scale when only 2 crops come out of flat belts and everything else comes out of loose belts

QRD on why /egg/ doesn't think much of Satisfactory?I'm playing it and I think I'm having fun but I might be mistaken.

>>581347230There can be two spergs, why shouldn't there be?
>>581343991Most of /egg/ is deep, deep down the autism rabbit hole and they want factory games to be exclusively about the factory design part. How to connect A, B, C, D to X, Y, Z and make sure it all works, it's prioritized correctly, it's controlled to operate as it should and so on.Satisfactory has that but the factory building part is rather bare-bones, like it has a lot of the systems you'd expect but they're all bare-bones compared to the genre king, Factorio. Some things are missing entirely, like there's no equivalent to the circuit network at all. So the factory design part of it is simplified. In exchange for that the game instead has a much more involved building system, by which I mean making actual buildings and things like that. /egg/ does not like this at all since they're only interested in the factory design. There's exploration as well, which gets the same treatment here because exploration is also not factory design. So basically the game is not pure enough, rather than focusing on factory design depth, it has some factory design with a significant amount of attention to building and also some exploration on the side.If you actually enjoy building stuff you think looks cool and like exploring the map (for the first time, at least), then it's a great game you will enjoy. If you just want pure factory design, you will feel that everything else just gets in the way.

>>581343991gameplay is very bad and clunky runs horriblyfails at the only thing it tries to be (3d factory game about making pretty factories) because of engine fuckerygame as a whole is fucking retarded and made for stupid people in mind
>>581349984Side projects and other stuff to do is not the problem satisfactory has. It's fun to just drive around the map in stormworkn't between designing new vehicles, it's fun to design circuits in factorio that are only very tangentially related to building a functioning factory, it's fun to move rocks and dirt in CoI for no reason other than because you can. A lot of things people discuss here are not actually related to building an efficient factory. The problem with satisfactory is that not just the factory building part is bare bones, every single thing in the game is bare bones. Of course people will mostly complain about the factory building, it's the main aspect of the game and everything else is somehow even shallower.
>>581352078It needs to be a woman so she can give birth to the new population.
>>581343991To quote someone(dosh?) who worded it nicely:>Factorio gives you powerful tools to solve difficult problems>Satisfactory gives you bad tools to solve simple problemsThat game is really a different league. It's a casualized, sanitized experience that is all about the spectacle of making a factory rather than actual engineering and solving problems(which is what 99% of people here want). Can you have fun in it? Sure, but it's like bringing Call of Duty to people who are into hardcore military sims.
>>581353301No, you see, I don't think you get it at all. You don't get it precisely because you think the building aspect of Satisfactory is supposed to be a side project. It is not. You think this is supposed to be factory design with a side of platform placement, but it's not.To the people who enjoy that sort of thing, it's a primary appeal on par with the factory design or even beyond it. I myself am not really in this category, but I've looked at what people who are really into this game actually do with it and very, very many seem to devote very significant effort, perhaps most of it even, into just building purely for decorative purposes. They make blueprints that serve no purpose other than decoration, spend time clipping shit together into much more complex shapes than what I'd ever get out of the game, make up entire building styles for various segments of the factory, go through the incredibly tedious process of making roads with nicely rounded corners and no visible clipping, design the actual factory parts so they look like a factory, make sure they're "accessible" without just flying through the whole factory and so on and so forth.I'm in the depth camp, I would love more depth on the factory design part and if the construction aspect had some structural simulation tied to it (think like those bridge building games) so you'd actually need to make properly supported buildings which could bear the load of your factory I'd probably love it, since it would turn something purely decorative into an actual game mechanic.Still just because this isn't exactly to my taste doesn't mean I don't get why so many people are into it and find it very fun. It's not an in-depth problem solving game but it very clearly isn't attempting to be one either, it's a blend.

>>581358308Nigger if the building aspect is the main thing then the game is even worse, the building system fucking sucks. It's fortnite-style slapping premade asset flip garbage together. It is generic in every aspect it touches and that's precisely my point which you seem to be missing. There's not a single game mechanic you could point to in that game and say "damn I really wish other games would copy that, it's so cool", it is creatively bankrupt which is precisely why normies love it, because it mashes together all the garbage from other games into one package and they don't have to think about new ways to interact with a video game, they already know all of satisfactory before they open it up.
>>581358308These people are not playing an engineering game. They are playing minecraft.
>>581360226NTA, but I agree with him.If you want to build a pretty factory with fun gadgets in a cool looking place, satisfactory is a good game to do that in.Are any of elements particularly good? Not really. But as a whole, is decent for what it is.

I don't think I can be more clear than this: the game's """main thing""" is the fact that it is providing the combination in the same package, allowing the player to build a factory that not only actually works and produces the required items, but also looks like whatever factory you imagined.>why normies love itMan, if you think it's the normalfags who autismally spend thousands of hours clipping decorative pieces together to make their highly detailed factory wall blueprint or train track segment or perfectly rounded truck road I don't even know what to say to you, you must be completely divorced from reality if you think it's normalfags who dump their hours into this game.>>581360453That's exactly right, they're playing a blend between an engineering game and basically Minecraft, and they get a lot of enjoyment out of the Minecraft part too. >>581374724I didn't say it's good, but it seems you're too stupid or uneducated to understand English so we'll leave it at that.>>581375193Look now, you can enjoy Factorio and shit without being actually, legitimately mentally ill. It's not a prerequisite or something. You are right though, /egg/ has definitely had a bunch of legit autists over the years, now that I think about it.
>>581375879Honestly I'd just create bioflux on demand since it's the one item that can spoil but can't be voided with the heating tower (unless you have recyclers).
>>581374724>Explains why people like it>Oh so YOU like it huhI think he was being too polite asking if you're autistic instead of just stating you are
Sure launch rockets with the shitty unpowered silos w/e.
>>581380990This screenshot is a fever dream
>>581381626it's 8 silos, what's odd about it
>>581381881I think I'm just really fixated on the rare EM science on vulcanus
>>581381881nta but what caught my eye were the fulgora science packs on vulcanus
>>581382009oh, didn't noticeweird
>>581382009>>581382085>>581382132Eh? They're just left overs from science before moving labs to navis.
Appreciate the answers on Satisfactory. More of a sci-fi factory-themed building game, then. It's a shame you can't staff your factory with NPCs like a village in something like Medieval Dynasty.
>>581382085>>581382132You guys dont ship your holmium and void everything else? I never tried it, knowing wube you probably cant make electrolyte or supercapacitors outside of fulgora
>>581383180You can't make the science pack elsewhere. Also coal liquefaction scales poorly on purpose so that it could only feed rocket launches, not purple and yellow science.
>>581383180>ship your holmiumWhy?Why in god's name would you do that?
>>581383910If the other recipes were not planet-locked, that would be the most efficient way of transporting it.
>>581383894They should have allowed making all science packs but only on platforms when they are moving, that would be a good challenge.
>>581384113NOBODY CARES ABOUT EFFICIENCY IN SPACE AGE I'VE SENT ROCKETS FOR 1 THOUSAND ROCKET FUEL TO GLEBAI'VE SENT ROCKETS FOR 1 ASSEMBLING MACHINEROCKETS ARE FREEYOU IGNORAMUS
>>581384754Oh yeah. I'm so used to mods fucking up the recipe, forgot launches are basically free in vanilla.
>>581376113Yeah you didn't say it's good, you said it's great, you fucking retard
I think it's all I'll need for normal pieces, now I only need to design stations and stackers
>>581384754All the resources of the infinite universe are free, but here you have to pay rent to live in a shoebox.Where's the justice in that?
>>581391524you pay rent?kwab
If you think Factorio asteroid densities are ridiculous, just imagine your platform is going at relativistic speeds and asteroids are stray hydrogen atoms.https://www.researchgate.net/publication/276048769_Speed_kills_Highly_relativistic_spaceflight_would_be_fatal_for_passengers_and_instruments>ship moving at speeds over half c will either get cooked by hard radiation, or outright meltInterstellar travel might be impossible.
This is just absurd. Now I understand why people care about throughput and stackers in the late game.
>>581395483Yeah but how does this affect me, personally?
>>581395970Is that per second? That's a big base
Captain of Industry is such a bad game, holy fuck, it's beyond belief how much my expectations were shattered.
>>581396304back to W&R?
>>581395970>This is just absurd.you're trying to make 72K SPM before biolabs are factored in. I think absurd just is the default.
>>581395483Yeah I don't think we will ever see other star systems other the proxima centauri one and even that one might not even be seen by anybody since we're gonna nuke ourselves in the 10000 years it takes for a spacecraft to get there. The greeks were right. All of the filament might aswell be a projection
>>581395970My recommendation is doing basic oil refining, and also skip the biochambers. You should be able to get enough oil comically easy with high levels of mining prod, and mining prod is dirt cheap now.
>>581396386I haven't played w&r yet because I don't like the graphics and communism.
typa shit my completely broke ass needs for 6 plates a secondswear to lord
>>581383101>More of a sci-fi factory-themed building game, thenYeah pretty much, though you shouldn't think it's basically Minecraft while building the occasional automated machine once every 3 hours either. It involves a lot of automation and factory building too.The progression and main technology unlocks do not need continuous, infinite production of anything, so how large you build is up to you. Even a trickle will eventually result in you having enough of whatever item to progress. It will regularly ask you for hundreds or like 1000 items which out of a single machine at default speed are produced at a rate of a few per minute, so rather slowly. Building the minimal 1 machine to make an item can result in taking a long time until you have enough for an unlock, so how large you build is up to you but if you build very small you may be waiting for a long time. It also does the Factorio thing where higher end items become more and more expensive and require larger and larger amounts of support infrastructure to feed them (as in input ingredients but also power), so for the higher-end items even supplying 1 single machine making them at full tilt can require a fair bit of building. The game doesn't have any viewable statistics that I know of, so I have no idea how many machines in total you can expect to have in an average playthrough, but unless you explicitly build as small as possible you can probably expect hundreds or thousands. The game has some special items (limited in number until the very late game) that can be used per-machine to increase their speed up to 2.5x, but it does not have something like Factorio's beacons or any other method to push speed beyond that, so late-game builds when the game wants you to scale can very quickly blow up in terms of machine numbers.
>>581396217Yes>>581396396Yea but the absurd is how all of this can be sustained by a couple of random buildings. Only the actual science assemblers are going to take some space, for the rest it is going be more challenging to route everything and keep train stations saturated more than anything else.
i don't think i can neet it out and play pyblockAlmost finished a seablock run a few years agoand that was like 300 hoursdnno
>>581400561As the local pyblock player you should do it. Just don't ask how far I am or how much time I have thanks.
>>581400786how many hours played
>>581400878I am speed.I know it took me about 80~ hours for my first splitter.
