uh oh. mmcg looking pretty dead for good these days
>>580852245no it's just gacha garbage ruining this board like usual
>>580849929Missed a trick, should have called it burnout edition...If I had a bit more time this weekend I'd fire up this Burnt Basic mod and give you a webm. It truly is terrifying when you're in a large wooden structure and the whole thing lights up in the blink of an eye.
>>580852601How is it gacha fault that /mmcg/ gets one post an hour?
>>580857385More poignantly, how the hell does /mcg/ stay alive and /mmcg/ die? Don't those guys have fuck all to talk about?
There's an annual Minecraft scholarship. Application is already closed this year but provided the Rumbling doesn't happen, there is always next year. https://apexminecrafthosting.com/minecraft-scholarship/
>>580858567> 2k dollars> Ahh that's nice for thirdies>> Must be a United States citizenSorry but is 2k not a drop in the bucket for US student loans? In my country 2k is about the yearly tuition fee for university so getting this is pretty nice, but for Americans it doesn't cover much more than one month rent?
Thinking of slapping together a few mods for a chill nomadic playthrough using an Ars pocket dimension jar as my base. I'll try No Man's Land for the overworld and Places to add a few dimensions to visit. Do you guys have any other suggestions for 1.21.1 neoforge mods that adds fun stuff for this purpose or places to see?
>>580860236I'd ditch ars unless you really want a magic mod. Cyberspace adds its own pocket dimension. Tempad for saving location for fast travel, Extractrooms for more in-depth backrooms mod. Aeronautics for travel or Immersive airplanes/Automobility if allergic to Create.
Playing Abyssal Ascent, going to try and build a tower that punches through every layer. Ghetto as fuck beginnings, but I've been focused on trying to find enough Froststeel to get to the Nether until now.
>>580864190> Abyssal ascent> Uses Immersive Portals to stack dimensions> The world is 2000 blocks tall in totalWell have fun with that anon, that's going to be a long grind. I can see the appeal though. How are you handling the vertical movement? A winding stair, ladders, bubble column? You'll very soon reach a point where fall damage is a significant concern not to mention the time spent travelling up and down to get more resources.
Anyone got any ideas for basing with villagers? This map's spawn is right next to a village, so I figured I'd set up a mine / watch tower and lock them in their homes while I mine for the mats?
>>580865108Once I hit the nether I'll be able to do bubble columns, I've also got access to Waystones for when it's more urgent, but I think staircase, bubble elevator, and waystones together will be more than sufficient to handle traversal through my Big Dick Wizard Tower. The hard part will be making it look good.
>>580866862Well, they are locked up, so later I can build my stuff and mine. Also found this cool cat, villages have a lot of cat mons.
>1 post / hourDead for good, maybe /vm/ might be the only way this will survive. Blaming gachashit doesn't work anymore.>check /vm/>there's a 2 month old hytale thread, last post was 6 days agoKek yeah this general would be alright there.
Anybody know how to use kubejs to create custon fluid 1.21 ? i managed to get it register but the texture is all wrong and the bucket is just a empty png
is create big cannons in survival a meme? I'm looking at the crafting recipes and realizing just how much shit you need specifically for cannon production, it's almost parody>>580875691people are too busy building autistic super bases to post here compared to other generals who's posters don't actually play the game so they have more time to bump threads
>>580875691I would love to post screenshots of my progress but unfortunately I have no progress because my flu is making it too exhausting to play more than ten minutes at a time
>found a second eevee>start getting evolution stones and diamonds/fossils from the mining mini gameGood luck starting to smile on me; I can only hope
>>580875691I've been playing Factorio and Abiotic Factor to wait for GTNH 2.9 to drop, then I'll return to post more gregtech videos
>>580878572Did a little grinding and catching; snubble starts with lightning, fire, and ice fangs. This one's a large.
>>580876309>is create big cannons in survival a meme?It has zero practical use and exists solely for fun. Just like in other mods where you usually craft super-powerful armor and swords in the endgame that serve no practical purpose, only here you craft cannons.
I just got up to logistic mechanisms in CABIN, where can I find a good guide to building a logistic network with Create?
>>580886407what do you need a guide for, just use pondersstock links make inventories available to tge networkstock tickers make the network visible to playerspackagers interface inventories with stock tickers and factory gauges, making them part of the networkfrogports send and receive packagesa stock link clicked on any other network device (stock link, factory gauge, stock ticker) and placed on a packager which is connected to an inventory adds that inventory to the networka frogport linked to a chain conveyor and placed on a packager allows the network to request packages from said inventorya named frogport placed on a packager connected to an inventory (no stock link needed) will have packages addressed with the name on that frogport sent to the inventorya packager with a sign on it attached to an inventory and powered with a redstone signal will automatically package anything in said inventory with the address written on the signfactory gauges placed on packagers which are connected to an inventory will request whatever item is set to be maintained at a specified levelfactory gauges placed on any other block are used to set recipe chains by ordering ingredients to be sent to specific frogports
>>580886407what do you think of CABIN so far anon
>>580887421It's more of a matter of high level design, like, do I want to build a big central storage area and then a bunch of factories for all intermediate components so that I can keep inventory control via factory gauges? Because that was what I was thinking of.>>580887650I like it but it really incentivizes coming up with solutions in creative and then pasting the schematic into your real world afterwards. I'm hoping that a solid inventory management system might alleviate that issue, but I think it unlikely. I love how after setting up a minimal quarry I didn't have to go manually mine anything anymore and I could just snowball from there, it's a good automation game, if a bit finnicky. If I could ask the dev for ONE addition, it would probably be some sort of item per second counter so I could scope out my builds before committing. The factory in my screenshot doesn't make nearly enough sugar cane and nether wart, so I'll have to expand both.Oh and I hate having to use tconstruct again.
>>580890027A big central storage area for end products and misc items is a good idea, but having dedicated vaults for raw resources that are farmed or intermediates that are made constantly and are stored in large quantities is also a good idea. It's probably a good idea to have general processing areas that can take requests for multiple different recipes that use that processing area rather than having dedicated lines for every recipe, though dedicated lines for high volume recipes are still good to have to not clog up the general slot. What do you have against tinkers? What's your ideal way of handling tools?
>>580890592>What do you have against tinkers?I have used it too much, it's just a personal thing. I'm up to my ears in grout. I was so uninterested in using tc again for this run that I only use it for ore processing, and I've not forged a single tc tool.
>>580876309CBC is a ridiculous mod yes. Serves to deepen the endgame a bit, you need an enormous factory to get anything going and at that point you might as well shit out a dozen cannons at once. It's actually kinda fun to do with Aeronautics and a couple friends. Since you can use plungers to move the cannon bits around. In base Create it involves very elaborate piston pushing and rotating setups to move the cannon workpiece from once stage of the process to the next. For all that the cannons you get are actually kinda trash. They do a ton of block damage but very little entity damage, even the shrapnel shot which is intended for that purpose. They also have way too much range so you'll always overshoot your target and the loading is also retard complex unless you use a quick breech. However the sound effects, smoke and screenshake are fucking great. It is tons of fun to fire a few guns and blow some shitty generated structure to kingdom come.
>>580890897>I have used it too much, it's just a personal thingThis. TC has been around for so long and is in literally every mod pack that it's just annoying. I also think it's too OP in some areas these days. It has that problem common to many older mods where it simply replaces the vanilla mechanics.
>>580890027Keep all intermediate products level maintained at their respective factories in vaults. For stuff you want immediately, have a 1-2 vault crafting storage area where you send finished products, and/or or use factory gauges directly on their receiving packagers to level maintain an acceptable amount
>>580891816Fully agree, that and the bloat. Can't be bothered with all these materials, tool parts and modifiers anymore. Also I'm tired of the ugly slime islands.
Does anyone know how to sort things you manually put into a create storage network? Say i've got a giant vault for wood and one for cobble and one for general things, is there any automatic way to have my wood go to the wood vault, cobble to cobble, and the misc to the misc vault?
>>580860236Nomadic Tents are built for this purpose. But any nomadic gameplay kinda conflicts with factory building gameplay, the only reason to play nomadic is if it’s an adventure dungeon conquering pack. Or something like Mine and Slash, where enemy difficulty changes based on distance from spawn.
>>580893594Create a second network for sorting. Your "dump chest" will have its own packager that's being powered, with a stock link on it, and a frogport on the packager. The frogport can be connected to the same chain conveyors as the rest of your factory, since the network is only defined by the stock links and factory gauges. Your various material storage areas then need packagers attached to their main storage containers, with factory gauges on them set to maintain a stock that's over what your production keeps it at. Put a frogport on the packager, and you're all set.Alternatively, use an intermediate storage to request the items with gauges, then dump them into the main storage with chutes or something.
>>580894928>Your "dump chest" will have its own packager that's being powered, with a stock link on it,sorry my bad, you don't need to power this packager. just the stock link will suffice
>>580893594You can send items to specific frogports using signs. Something like picrel should work, but there's probably a much more convenient way to do this.
>>580894928I'd do it without factory gauges. You can have your dump chest output onto a belt with filtered funnels that put the items into separate packagers. The packagers each feed into a frogport which has a sign of the related vault.
>>580858327More shit to argue about and more regulars arguing
>>580875691Ive been replaying the japserb modpack because it was that good, added enchantment industry tho>overall plan is a harbor/sub base>figuring out create some moreI didnt know deployers disregard the block right next to it so I've been making some mini farms encased in glass they look kinda cool. With bonemeal, they have an output comparable to the massive gantry set-up I had before. My next challenge is understanding the logistics blocks, so I can set it up through my base from the start instead of retrofitting it in. Create is so fun
>>580882645>found a third eevee before I leftThey gotta be more common in villages or something, either that or grasslands / forest.
>>580897752do you need to download the map or something for that one? kinda wanna give it a try

wtf apparently precision manufacturing and more detailed ore processing got removed in gregtech modernshame that i either have to forgo the survival element of terrafirmagreg or the realism of SuSyI wonder if someone at some point will combine these hard industry mods with soft industry gameplay where you mass manufacture millions of meals and textiles

>>580929490For some reason I knew this would be the mod before I even click on the link. Not installing it ever because of trannyrune reference.
>>580929723You probably want Stuff 'N Additions. It's just weapons and armor, nothing extra, and the quality is far better than Dream 'n Desire. I don't really use Dream 'n Desire at all because everything it adds is already in other mods, and those are of much higher quality.>>580930014I don't know anything about Deltarune other than that it has a sexy goat, so I don't see a problem.

>>580875691Gregtroons in denial scared everyone away, and then collapsed themselves. Besides the base game is going to shit with the refactorings and the modding ecosystem resents it. There's a lot of speculation regarding the Vulkan api, they don't want to make big calls for shit they might would have to rewrite from scratch.

There really aren't any horror themed mods that aren't incredibly obnoxious or poorly balanced despite minecraft already having a bit of a creepy mood to it at times. Is it that hard to design one that isn't loud jumpscare screaming, slapping a gorey png over your screen, or being nearly unkillable while one shotting you
>>580948763Horror is a one-time thing only, if they scare you once they won't be able to scare you again
Basement excavated. Hopefully that will be the last of the gay purple bullshit I have to deal with. I did NOT know that, in lieu of bedrock, there was "hardened depthrock" which only requires the barrier-breaker pickaxe to clean out. I ripped open a hole to the void at first, made my ass clench.

The leaf shield is still pretty broken, can push back any number of enemies in an aoe + speed boost, just takes about 3 seconds for the fairy to cast it on you.
>>580963759We need a new flavor of RPG mods
>>580963836we need a new RPG formula in generalminecraft still pulls from the Zelda formula (1986), World of Warcraft (2004) and Dark Souls (2011)
Would you include creepers if you made a minecraft like game
>>580965148Sure. don't know how to balance that though.
>>580963759The weakness of this buff is that if your fairy dies, you are boned; it takes an altar setup and a ritual to bind a whole new fairy to your scroll.
>>580965239thought about it a bit and desu i'd either just keep them in caves or in the other design i have make them an alt dimension mob, probably still keep them in caves thoughcreeper is fun when in tight tunnel coming toward you, or when it explodes and you fall into a new pit, or using them as a mining tool for like diamonds when you don't have an iron pickcreeper is not fun when it's making holes in your lawn
>>580966291For a building game creeper is the perfect foe tho

>>580956975biospheres + aero, yay or nay?
>>580940138I like to put them on an amazon rack or shelf, really effective in preventing water from getting in, usually in the basement or attic.>oh, you meant in minecraftI prefer putting my strongboxes in the crafting room, sometimes I use Ender Chest for extra storage space.>oh, you meant in the pokemon rip-off for minecraftIdk my attention span is too short I have never gotten to the craft a PC part in my playthrough.
>>580967604they do, but filters are bad for server tps and don't really add much when you can just search for what you need. if you want all Create stuff it works the same as JEI; i.e., you can do @create
>>580969786Are they really that bad? Damn. I just like having everything nicely in categories, specially per mod. Fuck.
>>580962918Iron's Spells is the easiest nu-version magic mod. Feels less like I'm a wizard and more like I have a gun shaped like a book and some very special bullets. But it gets the job done.Farm finally up and running. I've learned that the yellow lizard things clinging to the trees upstairs make great food when combined with potatoes and carrots, and they grow on the trees as long as I keep planting saplings. This Undergarden dimension doesn't really feel like a prison at the bottom of an abyss desu.
>>580963836I have a good pack for you, it's called Vampires Strike Back. Really fun self-contained RPG experience. You start put with only 3 hearts, 10 inventory slots and 10 lives. As you kill humans you can increase these. When you die you respawn a bit of a distance away and you only lose a life. Some stuff is kept and some has to be bought back. You go around killing bosses and grabbing loot, it's mostly Iron's Spells. The interesting thing is you can't get a spellbook so it's all about using the scrolls you find as single use spells. Which normally feels like a gigantic waste but here you get plenty, and you have no choice anyway. It's very atmospheric and well done. There is no block breaking and no block drops, no backpack either, a pure RPG experience without base building temptation. Doesn't let up either the start is pretty challenging. 10 hrs or so when playing alone and I can see doing it with a small group, maybe coop but equally some pvp or a rush to finish the bosses the fastest, could be pretty fun.
>>580964274I'd argue modern rpg mods are very Diablo / Path of Exile. Prominence 2 in particular, very heavy focus on looting and skill trees. I've never played a zelda where all the loot has rarities and you don't even look at anything below a certain rarity, straight in the bin it goes.
>>580967447Filling in holes in my lawn isn't fun and it never breaks down my walls so hoards can enters it just gets me when i afk in the wrong space or tab out
>>580970414Yeah, idk why it's like that, but it really doesn't do much when you can just search by tag
mods for this feel?
>>580977624zelda in the boss dungeons and special items needed for locations
>>580984789Ender Storage
>>580985971I'm not convinced anon. If anything Minecraft mods could still learn from Zelda design. We don't get that many dungeons, plenty of boss arenas but you don't ever really go proper dungeon crawling, there's only a few mods that give you this. Unless you count custom dimensions. This is partly a performance problem as large structures are very laggy to spawn in.With regards to special items, usually this is some kind of item that allows teleporting to a custom dimension. In my opinion this is much different and a bit worse than zelda. What those games do very well is introduce the obstacle and only later give you the solution. You find a rock in the overworld, okay need to get bombs to blow it up or goron strength to move it. Find water in a dungeon, ok need gravity boots to go down. Sky temple, well you're going to need a hookshot to get around. It's all very natural, stumble on the obstacle and sometimes you have to go back and it will take a while before you can progress there. In my mind that's a lot different from a questbook or JEI outright telling you which items you need to find to unlock a location.

What is TENKU SENGOKU, what mods are in the pack. I downloaded the zip and see there is some kind of installer inside it. Is this server active?
>>580993957That seems to be it, pity again because that mod added a nice charm to the pack. I wonder if it's because it's a fabric mod through connector.

I really don't get modern progression modpacks. So many of them start off with interesting with create stuff, only to end up slipping back into the usual Applied Energistics and Greg crap. It feels less like a progression and more like playing several different modpacks in a row.

What are the best magic mods for 1.21.1? I have Ars something and successor to blood magic. Anything else?
>>581037136Occultism, if you're into that. I don't much like it because it trivializes ore gen a bit too much with one of it's main features, but it's overall a pretty expansive magic mod. Iron's spellbooks is a magic flavored mod. Some of the things it lets you do at your base, like potion brewing and the like, overlap with ars a little. But, mostly, it's a purely combat focused mod with no rituals or anything like that of traditional magic mods. It also adds dungeons and bosses and new enemies to fight. There's quite a dearth of magic mods in 1.21. The same was pretty true of 1.20, but it's made even worse in 1.21 with some of those in 1.20 not being ported yet or ever. Botania's not a magic mod, but it's magic flavored and it's stuck in eternal rewrite hell. Not even blood magic is on 1.21 yet, what successor are you talking about for it?
>>581037136Botania!
>>581037518I remember Occultism and it's fucking ugly.Iron's spellbooks aren't really my thing because I already have Ars and I'm looking for mods that focus more on progression than just adventures.>>581037618>1.21.1

Should I add Cobblemon to my modlist? I just think it's a bit too self-contained and doesn't work well in modpacks where it isn't the main focus. Are there any other mods that add interesting pets without all the unnecessary fuss?
>>581051968I'm a massive pokemon fan and i love them to bits but i resisted the urge to add cobblemon to my long term list. i feel like the novelty would wear off kinda fast and it would get old seeing nothing but pokemon absolutely everywhere that don't really do anything besides pokemon things. I suppose what i'm left with are mobs from other mob mods that don't really do a whole lot either, but eh. I've never personally played cobblemon though so i feel i'm not the best to answer this question really. I would most certainly get sick of the ui bloat if there was no way to hide that, though i'm sure there is.

I'm collecting weird mods for a solo pack. Mostly looking for mods which have research mechanics or which have world seed randomization aspects. Reactive Alchemy is one but I'm wondering if there's any in particular that come to mind. probably 1.20.1>>581063319How do I download this pack?
>>581064135You go to the webpage via that URL. And you click the latest download link. And you install it via one of the installers listed on the webpage. It's a server that doesn't use mojang's verification servers, so you can use an offline/cracked launcher if you want.
Oh, that's what the lunchbag does. I'll go make one and store all of my diverse food in it.
>>581064135Spectrum is a magic mod with a research mechanic IIRC. Of course Thaumcraft (and any unofficial forks/homages/spiritual successors it may or may not have) should have a research mechanic. If you find a way of tweaking yourself a custom research tree, please report back. That seems to be a good way of making a pack that smoothly progresses from "grind these incomprehensible tech blocks for early-game researches" into "disassemble these useless tech blocks to build useful components" and then into "use these tech blocks for their intended purpose". Sorta similar to Rust's scrap recycling mechanic. For a salvage-based post-apoc wasteland modpack.>>581065724lmao

>>581131220Homestead or CABIN are pretty fun and chill. Don't be deceived by the cozy branding, you can optionally go balls deep engineering autism if you like.
>>581132301Hmm, we'll give these a look.We just liked Cursed-Walking because the enemies were actually dangerous and growing more difficult over time, so there was a reason to make good weapons, and then better weapons. But to make those better weapons you had to learn automation, and from there you learned the rest of the mods, and it was a very natural progression state that was really comfortable to move through. Those other mods we tried just felt like they shotgun everything at you all at once and it just was overwhelming.

>>581149046I am playing with the shitty community edition of ice and fire on 1.21 with aeronautics yes, but the dragon in that picture is a Naga from mowzie's mobs not an ice and fire dergon. From my light testing, ice and fire mobs behave very strangely with some aeronautics ships. The dragons CAN target you on your ship, and they can breathe fire or ice and completely shred your ship to pieces if mob griefing is turned on. They can stand on vessels and grab you off of them with their bites. But uh mostly, ice and fire mobs trying to attack you on vessels leads to crashes because the pathfinding thinks you're 30 million blocks away or something. I think i'll still try and make a helicopter or plane for dragon fly by fighting but it's so very janky. Not helped at all by the fact that the shitty community edition is shit.

Why are so many new blocks and "workstations" pipe-linked? I like Tinker's Construct because each block is its own thing, and while they're connected in purpose, they don't just feed one another through pipes. Most tech mods are pipelink hell. A shitton of -ators all managed by enough pipes to drown a sack of puppies.I'm probably just whinging, but is there anything other than pipelink bullshit in modern mods?
>>581217831what does pipe-linked even mean? even for tinkers, everything about the smeltery accepts pipe inputs and outputs.
>>5812028461) mechanical press for some iron sheets2) mechanical fan for smelting without fuel3) mechanical saw to chop down trees4) deployer, glue and mechanical bearing to make a rotary crop farm. Add storage interfaces and funnels or chutes later.5) mining machine on a cart using mechanical drills and two deployers with a few bits of track (use cart assembler)This is the basics, use Ponder as much as you can. For the mining machine there's no shame in looking up the design, it will teach you a lot.
>>581217831What the fuck do you want that isn't just a reskinned pipe or a little guy schlepping things around?
>>581219790I'm looking foward to learning the habits to make each one of these. Thank you brother.
>>581224421Have fun anon, and one more thing. I remember being a bit puzzled with the orientation of machines from Create in the beginning. Get yourself a wrench and you can rotate those blocks easily. A right click will rotate any Create block clockwise around the face that you click. Sometimes you have to stand on the side to get the thing to rotate in the way you want. For example when you want a deployer to point downward: usually it when you place it the hand will face towards you, just click on the side with the wrench to rotate it down.
Looking around, and I can't tell if BOP conflicts with OTBWG or not. I assume it does, but if it doesn't, that'd be sick.
Is there some mod that can help with the following:Two different mods which both add a "hammer" item that you can use to alter some of the blocks from their respective mods when right clicked with. I don't want to have two bloat items that can change the texture of like 5 blocks each. I just want to make it so the create wrench can assume the function of both hammers. There must be a simple way to do this right? For modpack makers?
>>581239431It depends on the mod. Take what I say as abstract because I haven't looked at how Forge is doing things in a long time. Basically a well-coded mod will make its wrench part of some "tag" group like "forge:wrench". Then they'll make their blocks look for anything tagged "forge:wrench" to allow them to be rotated. Conversely, they may tag their blocks "forge:wrenchable", in order to facilitate the check in the other direction. If the functionality isn't there out of the box, it's unlikely you could do anything aside from directly modifying the code yourself, because the check has to be included in the code of the mod.

>>581295089Uhhh, very interesting, if nothing else. I never much liked those mods that added locational damage. Neat idea, perhaps, but every projectile will hit your head and every modded flying enemy will eat your head, and the general lack of feeling like i deserved to get hit in that particular bodypart made it frustrating rather than engaging. Using bandages or other such tools to heal rather than eating is a nice concept that I like quite a bit, as well as having locational damage cause various effects. This, I fear, will suffer from similar issues but raised up to 10. Modded enemies and environments are just going to kick your teeth in in unfun ways unless you spend a million years configging datapacks. On the plus side, it looks like this mod is actively working to make sure other mods CAN mesh well with its various systems. Frankly I can't be bothered to read through that novel of a curseforge page in its entirety but I imagine this will die to feature creep or something. The Doomed mechanic seems...meh and out of place for the rest of the mod? Arrows hitting you and causing you to need to cut off the shaft and pick out shrapnel is cool as fuck. I guess I'll bookmark this and see if anything very interesting comes of it ever. Cas:U is good btw. Play the demo sometime or else.

make a compelling argument for not just making many big ass windmills to power my create things instead of messing with steam engines
>>581313345This is why you ignore activists.
>>581316734FunAlso steam engine is equivalent to 18 max windmills or 288 waterwheels. It's literally easier to set up steam engines
>>581316734Vazkii will come and kill you with a sword for being boring and gay. Also, you can print infinite lava in certain ways and use it to power steam engines for massive power generation.
>>581317245wasn't vazkii a flag person? that guy who put the fentanyl overdose awareness screen?
>>581316734Windmills are laggy as hell from my experience, even just 6 fully-powered starts to cause frame drops while looking at their direction. However did tell me that using wool blocks instead of sails make them more tolerable for fps, but god are they ugly using wool. That said it's probably possible to build windmills away from your base and just chunkload them to provide power without shitting your fps.
fishing for a poke rod template
>>581317690I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. For some reason, only flag people and buggerers can see this simple truth: you need to force people to not play in boring and gay ways, or at least encourage them to have fun on a mechanical level.Maybe there's a button in your ass that you have to press. Who knows. Some gaymo who spammed 999 dayblooms before the nerf will now respond to this and seethe.
>>581320754Odd he left endoflames in and run rampant over all the years despite this, I'd say at least 90% of the people who have ever played with botania have done so exclusively or almost exclusively with endoflames. And most of the people who experimented with others found them lackluster and just returned to endoflames. The food flower is interesting and relatively simple to automate, and makes for some interesting wiring and automation though. But there are just so so many mana generating lfowers in botania that hardly ever see use, they're either too complicated or gimmickey or not rewarding enough to bother. I guess the endoflame was a soft compromise through all this.
>>581320754>encourage them to have funBy making your mod fun in the first place, which most modders fail to do. Then they have a melty when people skip the otherwise very uninspiring content they made so people can ignore that mod in modpacks and keep playing the interesting mods.
>>581320343I'm playing Cobblemon right now tooI spent two hours trying to pick a starter, because I wanted to try someone different other than my beloved, Chikorita
>>581321283Part of the problem is that there isn't really a Tier 2 flower in Botania, so to speak. We have the endoflame and co. in T1 and all kinds of strange things in T3 but no flower with moderate difficulty of use and moderate mana production. That plus the fact that most of T3 just sucks shit to begin with.
>>581321642yeah in 1.8 they added pikachu, eevee and a randomizer button, got 3 rods on me; this will probably take all night.
>>581248934I don't think happy ghasts or the concept of a tamed rideable ghast is an inherently lame concept, unless you find the concept inherently retarded, what makes them gay imo is how Mojang went about implementing them just making them a borderline useless mount that's little more than a glorified elevator, instead of adding a Ghast mount that actually behaves like a fucking Ghast
>>581249843>I liked a mod idea that was more like the ender dragon egg gets you a mount instead.Don't you get only 1 Dragon Egg per world? How are you supposed to get a 2nd one without using cheats or dupe exploits?
>>581249843>kill dragon>get egg >hatch dragon>build enderforge>have dragon breathe into enderforge> insert netherite>make enderium>thermal devs seethe and have to rename their stuff
>>581307295I swear I've heard of at least one pack which nearly exclusively handled fluids instead of items, but I can't remember what it was and if it even was finished and not just a concept
>>581322003Well, I got lucky again, only took two rods and 3 sunken ships.
So, /mmcg/.What's the final solution to the mending problem?Mojang doesn't want to solve it or even acknowledge that a problem exists so our intrepid modders have to clean up their mess.
>>581325469repairing an item in an anvil no longer ups the prior use penaltyand that's it. nothing else needs changed or adjusted at all
>>581324650I should do some fishing then. So that smithing template lets you fish for pokemon when applied to a fishing rod or what? Never used that mechanicMaybe I will catch me a Popplio. fucking love that girl
>>581325585>Let's fix mending by adding a cheaper, potentially more powerful alternative to itNot sure about that one, chief
>>581326402yeah options to bridge you over before you get mending on everything are good. it would help the game and be quite a bit more fun in the pre mending phase. this is a sandbox, after allif you're not baiting you might want to go to vintage story or something, they like retards like you
>>581326064Yeah, it lets you fish for pokemon, im just using it plus some dive balls along with my thunder fang snubull to catch water pokemon.
>>581326504Yeah but isn't the whole dilemma about Mending making the game too easy? Unless I got something wrong
>>581326598No, it's about Mending being insanely cancerous to get while also being the only way to make your tools and armor last in the long term.TiCon just murdered mending moss because the dev is retarded.
>>581325469I saw a really good mod that changes mending to not be a permanent enchantment, but rather applying it to something at an anvil resets that item's prior work penalty for all the times you repaired it. So you can keep repairing it for xp forever, but you still need the material + a supply of mending books and it's not automatic.Combine that with a more interesting way of getting mending books, and the other enchantments as well while we are at it, and it should work fairly well. Villager gamba was never all that fun. Maybe let the librarian sell a couple exclusive enchantment books to still make them interesting, but not at the first villager level.A thaumcraft/occultism style infusion mechanic for getting enchanting books would be great. Mending would need nether stars and some other interesting shit that's underused in the game.
>>581326402It’s not more powerful, you still have to spend 4 diamonds to repair your pick each time. Compare that to mending, where material scarcity just drops off a cliff once you’ve already made all the perfect tools. Not having to spend even more time at an XP farm is a good thing for game balance. Requiring an XP farm to get good tools is bad game design in the first place.>>581326853I think there’s a middleground where the same tool can’t be used forever, but the time invested in getting perfect tools can be at least partially transferred over to repaired or fresh tools. Maybe repairing a tool rerolls a workmanship modifier (preferably with a skill element instead of 100% RNG) but keeps the enchantments intact. Or maybe it loses one enchantment level if you don’t provide enough XP, but the cumulative work cost doesn’t increase.
>>581326853
>>581328664>Implying there aren't diamonds every fucking where and they become a non-issue if you spend at least 2 or 3 hours of your playtime mining for oresI mean I get that it still makes it more balanced but eventually it becomes equally as cheap if not cheaper than Diamonds, since EXP can be much more of a pain to get unless you set up an elaborate farm
>>581328869>DiamondsMeant EXP there, my bad
>>581328869>minecraft>mining and crafting means you can have nice thingsAmazing observation, watson. Can't recall the game being called idlefarming, so why should xp farms be the most end game build?
thats a big turtle
>>581328869repairing in an anvil also costs exp.
>>581328989Not saying they should be? You're being defensive for no reason, and also I mostly agree with you, just pointing out possible reasons as to why it might make survival mode less of a challenge since it can already feel trivial enough for some people
>>581325469Remove durability.
>>581329216For you
>>581329253Yeah honestly this makes the most sense, Mending should be removed from the game and you should be able to repair your items by using the same amount of ore units it cost to create + 1 or 2 extra + 1 anvil use cost + a few levels of xp
>>581328869It would take a hundred or two hours of caving to enchant a full set of diamond tools and armour. The XP required to fuel mending is largely a non-issue, but for getting those tools in the first place it’s another story. If you’re buying books from the villagers its probably a lot cheaper, idk I don’t run slave camps.>>581329327That’s an idea. It simplifies the tool creating game loop where mods like TiCon soil complicate it, but I think it would be fine for some modpacks. You’d ditch the durability-related enchantments, and maybe you could add uber enchantments that add back unrepairable finite durability to the tool in exchange for improved stats, but it wouldn’t be worth it to use those tools all the time. Or maybe that’s what gold tools should be, give them iron durability while everything else is infinite, and add an enchantment that increases harvesting level.
thank you poke rod for the random enchantment book.
>>581329973Eh, you're right>idk I don’t run slave camps. You're missing out honestly? Having a couple fletchers and librarians is really useful, with fletchers you can trade sticks for emeralds and you can basically have infinite arrows without having to farm for flint or feathers since they're so cheap to trade, and librarians well you can get sharpness 4 and the sorts, but yeah it's a bit of a pain to set up
>>581329327Based, durability is an unc ass feature. Liderally who is being targeted by a mending nerf?PvPfags don't live long enough to bother with mending. Adventurers/Dungeon crawlers get so much free gear alongside mats/exp to make new gear.Buildfags meanwhile gets cucked over for no reason. Who's gonna build when hollowing out a cave or terraforming drains tools ludicrously fast?
>>581325469Remove durability but certain actions and monsters will break or render equipment ineffective or unusable. Mending mitigates that as in prevents it from happening but you can also repair your items like normal at great cost maybe remove enchantments to save the equipment or sacrifice the equipment to save the enchantments as books for later.
>>581321983Spectrolus is absurdly easy to automate, easier than even the gourmaryllis, from a purely botania+vanilla perspective. It makes a good amount of mana and can be scaled as far as you can manage wool production, but it still gets outclassed by the endgame flowers
>>581330249>without having to farm for flint or feathersSkeleton spawners exist.Getting emeralds from villagers in large enough quantities seems like either a grind more boring than strip-mining, or the cheaty process of infecting and curing villagers to get better trades.>>581330306If unique dungeon items slowly wore out and broke (as slow as unbreaking 3 diamond), while crafted tools did not, I think that would be fine.I think just increasing tool durability, especially of copper/iron and above, by 4 times would go a long way to mitigating the necessity of the mending and unbreaking enchantments.>>581330763Maybe armour would have like 5 durability points, and tanking heavy attacks would drop it, and hence drop its effectiveness. Think a big dent in your chest plate that you can hammer out. So you can then fix it with material on an anvil. Unbreaking and mending would still be useful, but hardly a necessity.Something similar could probably be applied to weapons, maybe for performing super strong attacks. It wouldn’t really be applicable to tools (unless you could spend your ult to mine a block much faster in a pinch), but the durability system isn’t very useful when building anyhow. Maybe picks wouldn’t drop durability on stones, only on ores?
>>581332589>Getting emeralds from villagers in large enough quantities seems like either a grind more boring than strip-mining, or the cheaty process of infecting and curing villagers to get better trades.4 stacks of logs equal to 64 Emeralds with the 32 stick trade, I'd say it's a reasonable amount to get, sometimes they also discount you 1 stick per trade too so could be a bit more
>>581330249Fletchers aren't great, you're better off using librarians, masons and farmers long term because is faster to automate paper, potatoes, stone. Some otherwise unremarkable villagers also have very efficient trades like butchers (10 sweet berries for a emerald) and fishermen (1 boat per emerald, aka 5 planks fed to an autocrafting mechanism - the wood type they buy is random though, it can be oak or it can be something pointless to automate like mangrove planks -) an underrated favorite is the shepherd. Buys wool and dyes (if you're lucky, white one which is another easy autocracy setup with bones from a mob farm).
Building a beach house, probably gonna use the dock for fishing and the interior for storage.
>>581323630maam this is modded minecraft
>>581336784Still needs stairs and more fences along the docks and windows.
>>581335797Yeah I don't doubt that but that also takes a fuckton more setup? Fletcher trades are usually the best and most starter-friendly because they're the easiest to set up and only requires you to get a lot of wood, of which there's plenty of in the overworld, especially if you're near a jungle or dark forest biome
>>581338568It's nice to have a place to chill on the shorefront at night, desu.
>>581340919no offense but your beach house looks like a shack made from driftwood
>>581342370yeah kinda what I was going for, im using it to store things, mostly fish and fishing supplies. Might find some bait berries and grow them here, still need to do a watchtower and an actual house in this village.
minecraft makes me sleepy
>>581141891yay for me, i have a pack with it, but it isnt a drop into any modpack kinda mod, needs to be one of the main focuses you build one around
>>581335797Big disagree, paper trading is trash, believe me I tried. No matter how huge your sugar cane farm it will never ever outproduce a tree farm. In vanilla sure, it's nice that sugar cane is afk, but any mod that allows tree farming will make you way way more emeralds. Also how dare you even suggest boat trading. Insulting. Boat trading is absolute insane cancer since boats don't stack. Carpal tunnel is a serious concern with villager trading, you have to be efficient with your clicks, not to mention how annoying villager breeding is. If you put in the effort to get 10 dudes to trade with they'd best give you a couple stacks of emeralds each day. Anything other than sticks or crops is just ass in my experience.
Do yall have arguments for a serb with Terrafirmacraft and or arguments against why not to make a pack around it.Also is woodcog in a good place, I dont know about 1.21.1 but when I loaded it up on 1.20.1 it sure had alot of minor model errors. I really like tfc real world cause I am turned on by the idea of having a map of Japan but not a straight 1:1 whatever scale scan off the internet and using world gen rules to create biomes off of a series of png images you can edit yourself, but im not married to it. I don't really find terrafirmacraft world gen very exciting. What is the best way to make a real world shaped world? I want to make a pack with as interesting world gen as possible while getting rid of the Great Lakes shaped like oceans effect. Having actual continents shaped like earth landmasses. I want as many varied entities that are interesting and some can even be dangerous but are not overpowered rape monsters mixed with alot of helpful entities that can merge with gameplay. And I want trains and tanks and guns but I want the pack to have good reason for trains and guns.

Has there ever been a mod where an NPC wasn't an entity like a villager but just an animated unbreakable/unminable block because the mod dev didn't want the player to kill them or move them in anyway and only interacting with it the way the mod dev wanted? Is the practice looked down upon?
>>581378040In VS this shit was basically required, vmod scaling down engine and control parts to 1/4th of the size was mandatory. It always was mega fiddly though. This mod looks way better. If it does all the things it promises in the description I'm going to be so happy. Scaling down battery banks and oxygen tanks for smaller subs will be the first course of action. And yeah, ship in a jar and toy cars, fuck yeah. Maybe it even works on rollercoasters? Probably not but that would be insane to think about no?
What are the best terrain generation mods for 1.12.2 hands down!
>>581385068https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/climate-control-geographicraftPair this with whatever biome mods you want. One reason I keep coming back to 1.12.2 is this mod. >>581387072I had just found out about that thing the other night. Actual godsend and I'm so glad it's in the game so I don't have to be some shmuck who has to use the wiki. I'm trying to get a third pokemon, preferably a mount, to make the journey all the way down south for the first gym.

The mod has a little overlap with parts of Create and whatever adds the trowel, but it’s not overpowered so why not. It’s been soon enough that there won’t be too much friction to ask players to update again, but I’d rather have a few more changes to make it definitively worthwhile.Though I can test to see if a client without the mod can connect to a server with the mod.>>581377690We are only months away from a Sable vore addon, I can feel it.>>581380770I think you could get away with it if the NPC looked sessile. So this pack requires a drop that is only found in a rare dungeon, the kind you have to explore several thousand blocks for. I had to take a few days off after dying about 3K away from home, only came back tonight to make the salty runback and grab my shit. In the process I finally gathered enough pearls from loot chests to make Waystones and by sheer luck found the dungeon I was looking for only another 2K away from where I died last run.All this rambling to say it is incredibly satisfying to come home and slam this piece of shit down, knowing I don't really have to go back out that far again on this layer.

>>581458240I meant on the small/player scale, not saying wheeled vehicles can't work at all but every mod I've seen that introduces non-rail vehicles always miss the 2 principles that would make them make sense inside the game, which are that the vehicle shouldn't be able to move up 1 block of terrain without jumping or going up a ramp, and that the wheels shouldn't be perfectly square or perfectly circular either, they should be a nonagon or decagon
>main SU engines stop>restart>all of my machines are now fucked

enjoying figuring out just how easy high logistics makes moving things aroundi started with pure createslop machines but you can see a small automated bonemeal wheat farm ive tried to be aesthetic with. Basically, a leaded glass enclosure with glowstone and all the createy bits hidden where possible for farms.
an automated tree farm will go here, providing ample sticks from which i will create biomass, which with the sneed oil in the background, will in turn eventually be made into biofuelnot sure what to do with the empty ground floor space on the left, i thought about challenging myself to fit some automated animal farms there but im also thinking of just adding something purely aesthetic, like a little jap zen garden

Modpacks to make the game as tedious and unfun as possible like TerraFirmaCraft?
>>581683176Sevtech has some tedious shit early game for the sake of realism and caveman theming. But more importantly, what are your thoughts on Lycanites Mobs?
>>581680193Trains, but also mining machines and the ability to store contraption minecarts are more powerful and easier to use than the equivalent Sable machine. Drills on a Sable machine need to be powered, while drills on a minecart or rope just work.Simulated elevators might be a step too far, but I like the idea. By default the ropes can only extend by 32-50 blocks IIRC, but it can be configured longer.
>>581683176GTNH You were expecting this answer, weren't you?
>>581683176Better Than Wolves
>>581683946There are already survival-friendly addons for saving Sable machines to your inventory. But I enjoy driving the ships I make and the challenge of moving them around.I think mining machines drilling for free without power requirement was always a necessary evil. With Aero the power system has gained a lot more utility which it sorely needed. Spamming water wheels and campfire steam engines is a thing of the past and good riddance honestly. I don't mind paying for power, also those new rotary block breakers are pretty fucking cool. It's a bit more effort to run a Sable mining machine but it is also not as boring. Map design makes a big difference, if you need to go down to deepslate and drill straight lines then yeah a minecart contraption will do that better. I'm over that though, give me large ore deposits to find like in factorio.
>>581683873>Lycanites MobsI try to stick to vanilla looking mods as much as possible
>>581685339You can use a resources pack to fix that
So, I am thinking of getting back into modded Minecraft. Is there some pack that actually feels like it impliments exploration beneficially for automation and tech and stuff, kinda like how Palworld does it?
>>581687114Gtnh
>>581685225>There are already survival-friendly addons for saving Sable machines to your inventoryI meant more the opposite. Sable sublevels should be moved by train, crane, and helicopter if they can't move themselves. If you can chuck a mining contraption in your pocket, that disincentivies you from using sublevels, and is more boring too. On SIA I know I've been using rope digging machines (and flipping them to dig sideways), because it's far far easier than setting up an equivalent Sable-only digging machine with powered drills. I get that the big rotary boring heads should be later game than the drills, but there should be an earlier game method for getting resources in bulk.>large ore depositsAbsolutely agreed. I want to build one of these fuckers. If only the SIA big ore veins worked.>>581687114How does Palworld do it? Resources being spread out that require extraction and transport infrastructure? Or one-time finds like blueprints or micro-resources that you can collect enough of in one trip? New discoveries or tech progress that recontextualise previous exploration?
>>581687257Part of me feels like this is a joke answer but when I tried it initially, I felt it was way too grindy for me
>>581687401It takes thousands of hours to complete, it's for people who are actively seeking an enormous time sink.
>>581687401It is a joke answer. It is the stock reply to any question here. I think E2E:E implements exploration to the extent the creator beat it purely through exploring, if you want to look into that
>>581687345>How does Palworld do it?High tier resources lock in certain locationMost machine run by pal so their effectiveness depend on the pal skill which you can upgrade by catching/breeding better palThere are dungeon/tower which provides you with schematic that help you craft equipment that beyond your tech levelRamdom chest/ruin that can provide most common material for crafting
>>581687114You will not find mods that make exploration as rewarding in Minecraft because Palworld isn't gating tech behind "exploration", but rather experience. It feels like exploration is making you unlock new things, but in reality you're just artificially gatekept by a timesink in the form of levels in the tech tree. Minecraft is fundamentally different, here you progress by finding resources, the same can't happen in Palworld. You can't make a beeline towards Feybreak and skip most of the progression.
>>581687114Try a HBM pack
>>581687345Palworld has it so things you get from exploration can make automation significantly easier. As you progress through the game, you can find pals that are better and better at working as they are your workforce. Each work skill level for example increases significantly in work speed. So my point in what I am trying to say is something where exploring can make automation easier. Also later game resources tend to be in bulk in later game areas. And not only that, exploring sometimes can give machine components that can be useful for your automation. I think an example to explain would be like if you could find craftable machine frame components or circuit boards or such from certain mobs or dungeons. So in a summary, I think the simple way to explain it is exploring can give you resources to significantly improve your automation speed/efficiency and outright give crafting components you can use for automation.
>>581688385I wasnt meaning like for it to be gated behind exploration but more tougher areas and mobs to actually feel useful for later parts of the game. in a lot of modpacks I played, looting dungeons and killing strong mobs usually gives resources like diamonds, or easier to get ingots rather than stuff you will be finding more useful at the time such as alloys, or materials made by using some tech.
>>581688420Mind if I ask what HBM stands for?
>>581689264try meatballcraft. you'll love it.
>>581689345No clue what it stands for, but he's probably referring to HBM's Nuclear Tech Mod.

>>581689610Looking at the main page and my main concern is my lack of automation knowledge and skills. I will give it a shot to at least see the quest book to see if it helps teach how to do stuff well, but I got a feeling that pack might expect a higher experience with automation than I have.
>>581690937it tries to integrate exploring dimensions and looting structures and beating up progressively stronger bosses into the automation loop by locking initial resources behind those encounters, and the early game has a few structures around the overworld and nether and end to loot for things that you can eventually make but initially can only be found in structures.it's incredibly autistic and to get past chapter 2 (out of 10) you have to do roughly an entire standard kitchen sink's pack progression tree, and chapter 3 already busts your balls with nuclearcraft and it only gets worse from there. there's an okay amount of the exploration stuff in chapter 2, mostly limited to dimensions most people know the name of. the quest book in mbc is incredibly expansive though for what it is, and there's pages and pages of info on a bunch of different mods and different ways you could go about automating stuff.if you want a pack that does something similar to this but with a goal that you would have a realistic time reaching, try Divine Journey 2. you go to many different dimensions and beat many strange monsters to get resources to do automation, but without the complete retardation that mbc falls into.

>>581761618It autocrafts, I mean what do you want to know about it? It's just like AE2 with some minor changes and no channel features.
>>581761618Imo create auto-crafting is the simplest and most straightforward
>>581761618Refined storage is shit man. It can do the most basic of things but it can't even approach a tenth of ae2s capabilities. And if you're putting this in a pack with any level of exploration or mob based mods at all, because refined storage is shit and has zero fucking natural blockers against nbt data death, the system is likely to get clogged up with a million swords and the like. If you're ok with needing power for the setup, then just go with ae2. >I just don't want to have to balance the storage network around jerking off crystals for the first few hoursi really dont understand the complaint here. if you want a storage setup you can make before ae2 that's easier then go with Create's stock link system in an incredibly basic setup, basically just a stock ticker on an item vault and you can search through all your things.

Hi guys, I think the last time I posted it was before there was even a modded Minecraft general, just wanted to ask if I'm correct in thinking there used to be a /mcg/-specific version of Blightfall in a pastebin somewhere here, was gonna run a serb for my friends sometime. I don't think it's the gregtech one that's there now.
I've finally punched through to the Nether in full. Still thinking of ways to spice up the tower's exterior and how I want to use all the SPACE it has on the inside.

Found not a single village, I wonder if it is because of the large biomes, installing Lithosphere on top of the rest of the kitchen sink modpack messing up with the default config or what. And now I found almost a full set of diamond just because.

They are like enchantments in a way but can be applied on top of enchantments as well, but only on items with slots. Gems have rarity and naturally the rarest have better effects. You have a cool item that you want slots inserted instead of the basic bitch items that have slots already? You crush gems and do some stuff I forgot, but that's end-game stuff, like literally you have to go to the End and get something from there.

So, I have been thinking, maybe my approach for finding a modpack maybe is looking for one that is more easier than most of the expert packs but actually has more of a path of progression compared to kitchen sink packs. To give an idea of the difficulty, one of the only modpacks I actually completed was FTB inferno. Maybe some other ideas of modpacks for me to try?

>>581852342This modpack doesn't come with Create, which is the surest sign that it's actually focused on exploration and the titular Ascent. All of the layer-breaking pickaxes have required going out and hunting down bosses/dungeons to get the materials.

>>581852694Somehow forgot to write the latter half of my post which would explain why I mentioned the pickaxes: it focuses on the bosses instead of having you make some microcrafting setup to handle the materials to break through the layers. No Create, no real automation mods at all that I'm aware of, it uses "Tom's Simple Storage" and Sophisticated Backpacks/Storage instead of AE2. >>581857061If I choose not to count the "basement" and instead count from the front door, I've got fifteen floors (five blocks each), with the sixteenth entering the Nether. Also you have the powder charges here individually but those can be loaded into a canister. As you have already seen, a quick breech is much easier than a screw breech. I really hate how complicated they made the screw breeches it makes it complete horse shit. You don't even really see the cool animation since it's obscured by the mountain of cogs you need to actually open the thing, when a quick breech is just right click and done.Haven't seen this cool place in a while, where you gone? Today I have been reminded that firespread is ON, and even if I can personally swim/run on lava, my tower cannot. >>582001873Ah, 1.12.2. It’s still very early days for DH for that version, I’d hang about on their GitHub (or discord) and see if others have the same problem. If not, make a new issue about it.Otherwise, maybe there’s a combination of modern performance mod backports that can approach the performance and feature set of optifine that you haven’t tried. I’d look for somewhat recently published “fabulously optimised” style modpacks for 1.12.2 to see what they use. Maybe there’s already some DH+shader packs. It’s a shame you can’t sort by release date for that specific game version on CF or Modrinth, maybe modpack index can.
