Meanwhile XIV's worst quality is its story, which Yoshi-P is trying to fix. What does WoW do? Retcon everything, and then sell people a game from 2006? And then corporate suits slapped a obviously troon-coded $30 race that was made in a 10 seconds.
Literally no one knows what "Classic+" means. It's just vague posting, vibes and feelings because corpos saw how popular OSRS is, and decided they had to get into nostalgia pandering. Without even considering how much of an overhaul the game will really need to qualify as "Classic+".
Will people buy and play WoW Basedever? Yes. Will it live after a year? I'm interested in playing it but classic literally can't hold my interest for more than a few weeks because i'm so spoiled on retails faster combat and encounter design

All that being said, it is concerning that they put all this effort into forever and we seemingly got FUCK ALL, we aren't even getting the new customization options that the smurfs are getting which is just horse shit.
I do kind of agree that it does seem like a pivot to pander to morons that were filtered out of the game over the years and if it goes bad it could literally destroy the studio. I feel like the people that prefer Classic game play over retail's gameplay just do not fundamentally enjoy the game at its core, but that's not the games fault.

I think forever looks interesting and will certainly be giving it a try.
It adresses most of the issues that kept me from giving a shit about classic.

also lmao all the doomers saying its the end of retail when what is really is, is soft EoS for Classic, with blizzard acknowledging that "no changes" was complete failure. That classic beyond wotlk was deeply unpopular, and that N64 wow has no future aside from the the spergiest autists.

Forever isn't a reboot of retail, its a repudiation and reboot of the classic branch into a more retail like form, while acknowledging that the is interest in and market for an old simpler style of wow.

I think WoW may be experiencing a similiar phenomenon to the RTS genre where there is literally a ton of depth an improvement to be made as far as personal skill is concerned on top of very difficult encounter design, infinitely scaling difficulty, and cut throat player versus player modes where it can be show cased.
I think the problem with taht is that your modern "gamer" does not care about putting in the effort to master their class/spec/mode of choice and so you just have a lot of bug people that don't bother finding something less tryhard and instead insist the game is shit. Obviously video games have become a more popular form of entertainment than they were 20 years ago and m$ wants that fucking bag.

Hopefully we're just dooming for fun/no reason and everything will be fine but it doesn't look good after blizzcon, BUT the game has experienced highs and lows, dwarfed by classic at one point and shoved into the shitter from fake scandals and particularly bad patches and its still standing.
