Lot of screen time in this episode was boring medical ethics and dialogue which was too transparently trying to be dramatic. But it was nice to see that Sotoa has a real culture and isn't just a generic nation with exotic sounding names. Also I wonder what that reporter lady was on about when she said "FCU Response Absent". Maybe there was disagreement at the very top about wether or not to capitulate? That might explain the breakaway states and how things got so bad, you pick up the fight as one of the few surviving factions that wanted to fight. I hope Aces at War can shed some light on whether or not the FCU was always an an EU-like organization or just a nation itself that rapidly expanded to fill the void of the IUN withdrawing. All of the character bios have FCU listed as "country" if origin and not, say, Amber or Ugellas.
