I don't know if this is common knowledge but I just discovered that if you have the Soul Walker enchantment and you put stairs on top of soul sand/soil, then you'll get the speed boost while on the stairs. The reverse does not seem to be true (you don't move slowly on stairs above soul sand/soil without soul walker)

I finally finished my 3,000+ block nether railway (plus 200+ block overworld bypass to get from the end of the railway to the nether roof) where my newly constructed wither skeleton farm is. After about 30 minutes of sitting in here I have over a stack of wither skeleton skulls, and now I'm going to kill me a bunch of withers and fill my base with all the beacon buffs.

Weird question, but does anyone have advice for getting mileage out of this game?I love playing it, but a lot of the time I complete a goal and lose all motivation. I end up just making new worlds instead of building on the worlds I already have and get burnt out trying to repeat the same starting actions over and over.As a result I mostly play Skyblock, the progression is slower a little more concentrated. It's harder to get lost in the big picture.

You could spend time terraforming if you're in the mood for terraforming that day. You could chip away at the castle, maybe add a tower or a wing. Could spend some time building nice houses, or shops, or touching up the roads and road signs. The little details. Or you could work on the wheat fields and farm houses outside the city limits. Each little bit you do you feel accomplished for it by itself, but you also get to go to your favorite viewing spots (you should have spots you like to stand to overlook your builds) and see how the landscape has changed, how the feel of the place has changed, and how everything starts coming together to form a great whole. You probably won't finish it all. Nobody ever does. But, you still get to see all that you have done, and you get to see it coming together in a somewhat cohesive way. Or it can be a bunch of clashing things, but the fun can come from seeing them together next to each other because you can do whatever you want. Overall, I don't know. Just try your hardest to see how great having and keeping one world can eventually be, and split big goals into smaller goals.

There's already a way to make more lava with dripstone once you have it, so all they need is some way to get it at the start. I don't really have any good ideas for it besides adding it to the wandering trader trades or a villager trade, and both of those are fairly boring, so i'd hope they come up with something better. Getting access to the nether would open up a lot of things.

I have a fairly large build that I've been waiting to complete for a while now. The whole reason I've been waiting, aside from slight burnout, was the hope that the minecart overhaul was coming in sometime soon, as the build features a connecting railway between multiple parts of it. Does anyone know if/when Mojang plans to drop this? I don't necessarily want to mod, as I have another fairly large modded world I've been working on for the last couple of years, and I like having a vanilla world in my back pocket.

You'd be able to update your world cleanly to newer versions as it's still in the game, and if/when they remove and do a minecart update you won't lose anything. I don't for a second trust Nujang to improve them but strongholds are trash. It's just procedurally generated hallways that go nowhere. Everything except the portal may as well not even exist. The most hands-off thing they could do to make them at least a little more worthwhile is to make the loot chests better.

Turning a neglected part of my world into a more proper form, a simple woodland with nice comfy "inside" feel. Using new poplar ofc, I make my oak almost exclusively grow into tall version, and there are many 2x2 spruce, this gives the trees an especially elevated look. Don't mind the patches of podzol, remnants of me putting 2x2 spruce everywhere, I will clean it up and put podzol in more harmonious places. I designed the path working on a screenshot from above, I really did not want the paths to be done loosely and by vibe. One thing I tried to do is to have some parts of the paths aim at major landmarks, and then when placing trees I make sure there is a good view of the landmarks, also I make sure to "frame" the view by placing trees on either side of pictures.

Every structure should have some unique loot or mob that can spawn there that makes the structure purposeful (moreso than just armor trims which literally noone cares about). I don't think making a structure bigger or more detailed makes it more interesting which is the main problem with most of Yung's mods.

>>581897474There's just not really a motive to explore all the structures and new structures they add. There's no exclusive loot besides armor trims and those are a meme. Most biomes all you need is a flower/sapling and you're done with the place with no reason to return if you're after the new blocks. They keep adding new biomes but there's really not much reason to go search out said biomes let alone the structures I wouldn't want it to be as grindy as ender remastered no way but something inspired by that at least. Some reason to get people to go explore the world

>>581902364Personally, I really like collecting all the unique armor trims, I think them being a consistent token reward for traveling and conquering structures is cool and I'm glad they've been mostly consistent about adding them for new structures, a la the trial chambers and even trail ruins. Beyond that, not every structure can have truly unique loot without bloating the game a little much. Truly unique loot is something like trial chambers having wind charges and the heavy core, in addition to the token trims and it being a good source of god apples and diamonds and potentially emeralds.I think the structures having a relatively unique type of generic loot that you could get elsewhere or make yourself is a cool way of making them worth exploring. Desert Temples have a lot of gunpowder (useful for rockets if you're skimping on a creeper farm or killing creepers), 9 tnt every time which can be generally useful, and they have the best odds of giving you a Mending or Channeling enchanted book. They also have notch apples occasionally, and of course the token trim.Ancient Cities have their truly unique loot of Swift Sneak and the echo compass, but they are also a fantastic source of absurdly good enchanted diamond hoes, notch apples, and absurdly good enchanted diamond pants. Ocean Ruins have sn*ffer eggs. Shipwrecks have treasure maps, treasure chests have hearts of the sea and lots of bars and diamonds.If you can see what I'm getting at here. There are different reasons to hunt for different structures and pulls for them. The trims for collection purposes, the truly unique loot for gameplay reasons, and the generic specific loot for avoiding certain other parts of the game like enchanting pants or hoes. There's enough reason to draw people to these structures without making them a soft requirement to get to the end.

The worst offender is probably placing any blocks above the spawning platform besides a tiny platform to afk at, because then the mob spawning algorithm will have to check through another however many y levels up you placed those blocks and kill the rates. I don't really know a great solution to the general mob farm cover up issue, it's usually not a problem unless you use distant horizons and even still I've just put it so far away i can barely tell it's there from my home and i've been good with that.
