I'd go even further and say Yu's biggest issue being his sheer loneliness, and how much he comes to love Inaba and the ppl in it, is one of the best parts of his character. He goes from being this incredibly lonely person to finally finding somewhere he belongs and ppl he can't imagine losing. And what makes it work is that you as the player end up getting attached to Inaba and these characters right alongside him. By the end you don't want to leave either, and eventually having to say goodbye to them hits even harder. That whole aspect of Yu's character is also *chef's kiss* beautiful. I never so as in-sync with a Persona character as I was with Yu in P4, and that's why he's my favorite...All I'm saying, is that Makoto's fleshed out story in the movies is also one that resonated with me on a different level. It's just to me.. the person Makoto turns into by the end of the story is fucking beautiful. No way would he have the same resolve by the end if it was beginning of the story Makoto. Hell he might've sympathized with Takaya's goal in the beginning and just wanting to end it. But his journey making him want to protect life is really touching. And coming to enjoy life, only to find yourself in a situation where you have to give it up before you can truly live it.. man, that's a fking Greek tragedy.

Sometimes I wonder whether or not if I should gift my nephew P3R. He's only about 15 or 16, but you could say he's similar to Akinari, although instead of a hereditary disease, he has a heart defect that's resulted in him needing multiple surgeries just to prolong his life. Even still, there's a strong likelihood that he doesn't live to see 30, if even 20. That being said, his parents are very strongly religious, and I don't know if they, or even he, would be alright with playing a game where you fight using demons (although he may gravitate towards just using the angels for all I know). Even still, I'd really like it if he could experience something that may ease his mind about the inevitable, and I'd personally love it if he could experience Akinari's social link.
