So from what I gathered from the little bits present in part 1, I can only guess that being a giant herself, Meursault's other lived in fear of most things, and she was training her son to potentially become a replacement for her eventually. Then, for whatever reason she found herself feeling cornered and stalked by something, which she sees as a threat to herself and her son, and she sounded genuinely worried for him for a moment, and tells him to avoid casting judgement at all to avoid being a victim like her before asking him to kill her.So maybe in her own way, similar to Shiomi, she was trying to make sure Meursault could survive given the circumstances, and trained his mind in that method Jeanne mentioned, wanting to make him cold and direct as possible, to avoid whatever the hell was stalking her.
