The problem is, so far all the combat-based gameplay in Endfield has been trivial except CC0, which, rather than being difficult, was really just a huge gimmick (literally asking how good you are at using a manual jump to dodge attacks, which was stupid considering up until that point, dodging/perfect dodging is specifically how the game always taught you to evade attacks and jumping was only reserved for exploration). If you compare its first CC to Arknight's first CC's, Arknight's did a much better job. Early CC's were difficult, but they didn't throw a completely random unrelated mechanic at you and demand you master it. The stage may have had some mechanics to it, but it was always supplementary to the gameplay and never felt unfair or like a gimmick. You just had to use the strong operators, have them properly leveled, incorporate a strategy based off the enemies and stage, and execute it well. There was also no RNG in early CC's, while in Endfield's, a lot of high risk was simply rerolling for the right enemy pathings and attack patterns.

Didn't max risk CC0 - I think I capped out at like 45 - but I had fun with the more nuanced approach to dodging (to me it was less of a "learn to jump dodge" thing and more position mastery). And a few of the more gimmicky echoes stages have been fun, the ones that're blatantly just build and rotation checks suck eggs.I don't think I would compare endfield's combat to arknights anyway, the gap between a tower defense game and an action combat game is too vast.

The other game shows no effort of depth, instead rushing to be epic and showing how the characters are so cool for shrugging off problems with friendship. While the antagonists have vague cosmic powers and the level of death resistances that mark the worst parts of arknights' writing. Not to mention the characters being gutted in transit with the gutting of the supporting casts and the character logic that would make them actually represent their original versions. Eyja's lore, the Sanguinarch retcon, and Typhon in purple hair and tit proportion only being the worst of it.
