What game were the reviewers even playing? Going on and on about how ambitious and revolutionary this game is, but it's just really boring? I'm nearing 20 hours in and I'm just over halfway through Cai's story. Nearly 20 hours for 7 maps and a handful of auxiliary battles. I've barely actually gotten to play Fire Emblem so far, and have instead been playing Persona but bad. And when I have been able to actually play the SRPG I thought I was paying for, it's just utterly brainless. Even on hard/classic the game is tuned so a child could beat it without difficulty.The turn based clash system should not have been shipped. It's so half baked that they literally give you a button to skip it. Dungeons are uninteresting hallways that funnel you to said boring turn based fights. The world map is cumbersome to navigate. Menus are clunky, with menus for things you'll access most hidden within other menus. The battle UI is the most unreadable it's ever been. The hub is once again stupidly big and full of busywork like in 3H. To top it off, this has the worst recruiting system of any FE game ever. We get 3H recruiting system, but somehow even slower and even more tedious to deal with. You have to painfully grind up their support rank with gifts (that you'll have to explore to get, since the vendors at Dagsion don't give enough), and of course just shoving food into their faces. Then, when you finally manage to meet their requirements, they'll want you to go grab ten of some item on the other side of the map, so more boring mario partyesque gameplay for you! And as a reward for grinding those support levels, recruits now mostly just have very few supports? So what was even the point?All of the wrong lessons were learned from 3H here. While 3H was boring, it was at least engaging enough for me to finish a playthrough. I've dropped this one with no plans on coming back. If this is the future of Fire Emblem, I think I'm done. even reddit hates it
