Okay I've just finished Days' cutscene collection. I still don't understand why Luxu/Xigbar saw Ventus in Xion when he barely even interacted with Ventus except being told to shut up during TVA days. Unless it is in fact a holdover and deepcut that Luxu and Ventus knew eachother back when Xigbar was Luxu and Ventus was a dandelion.
From what I understand, Xion looks like whoever perceives her's connection to Sora? Is it solely because Ventus is in Sora's heart that Xigbar sees Ventus?

Ever think about how people who don't play non-mainline games finished kh1 and then started 2 and were wondering why Sora and co are in big weird tubes in somewhere completely different from a grassy field with a big ominous castle? It never made sense to me since I never played CoM as a kid.

Gotta say, playing as Riku in CoM is everything I thought it would be; That being feeling rushed and incomplete, like there's not as much going on with him as there was Sora. I managed to get the gist, because I played through the first few worlds of sora's campaign and my brother gave me a very through and concise tldr of what happened.
Because of those things, the kh2 intro recapping the events real quick and just putting some things together(figuring that missing members O13 outside of larxebe and marluxia probably died in CoM) I didn't feel lost when playing 2.
When I played through re:com years later I was actually surprised how little I missed and how well my brother managed to explain the plot.
The only thing I didn't know was that twilight town made its debut in com and that roxas makes a cameo at the end.

Overall this replay of Re: COM was pretty fun. I don't really have a strong opinion on Riku's side, duels work well enough and it's a pretty quick jaunt. I think ending around the high 30s is good enough but Ansem is a pain at that level. Sora's was a lot of fun, did a lot of deck and card experimentation until I grabbed Demyx and leaned into an ice deck which worked well for most of the run. Overall I really love this game and always look forward to it on my replays, the script I made did help make it a bit more challenging and I think on both sides of it I probably didn't invest enough into health but it worked well enough. KH2 is up next which I'm looking forward to.

In KH 2 Xigbar's first scene, he talks to Sora and days a similar thing. I am sure at one point it should refer to Roxas which was later expanded to refer to Ventus. Vexen and Xigbar are MoM and Luxu. Anything else is a retcon to me.

Sora being a nobody and not MoM is the only way Kingdom Hearts can make sense imo.

So there's a thing that's been weighing on me. Kingdom Hearts can be made out of hearts unleashed from Emblem Heartless'. That effectively means that, because Emblem Heartless are made of real people's hearts, Kingdom Hearts is just a philosophers stone.
Additionally; A Nobody will inevitably 'grow' their own heart. Doesn't that mean you could, hypothetically, daemonculcuba a Kingdom Hearts by laboriously creating Nobodies from powerful people, letting them cultivate a heart and then letting them get consumed by Darkness to make an emblem heartless and then releasing those hearts with the keyblade?
In other words, aren't Hearts technically an infinite resource that with enough time and patience can be accumulated like a common crop? Additionally, couldn't you just summon Kingdom Hearts by wiping out an entire world's worth of inhabitants ala the keyblade war? What are the implications if it really is just a philosophers stone?

So unless that's a mistake on Nomura's part, emblem heartless are, like hearts, fundamentally infinite.
Incidentally, A lot of worlds were raped by Heartless in 1 and turned into fragmented pieces to make The End of the World, easy to assume the inhabitants (who were less strong of mind than characters like Mushu and Dumbo) became heartless/were consumed by darkness.

Kingdom Hearts requires sacrifice to be summoned, or at least exist and keyblades unleash hearts from corporeal bodies. MoM created keyblades as far as we know and Darkness consumes hearts when they're extracted from life. What truly came first? Is Kingdom Hearts a natural phenomenon? Are Keyblades an affront to the core reality? The more I think about it, the more I think that Keyblade wielders are somehow a net negative for the world. After all we also know that Heartless are drawn to the keyblade and that Heartless are a side product of the realm of darkness merely existing. It can't be a chicken or egg thing because one thing absolutely had to come first.

The heartless are drawn to the keyblade BECAUSE they fear it. It might seem oxymoronic but it basically agitates in them as it is the one thing that can permakill them so they gang up on the wielders. And even then if someone has sufficient dark power they can control the heartless easily. As for the realm of darkness we don't have enough info to conclude which came first. In my opinion I say the realm of darkness came after because MoM talks about how darkness spreads wherever there are people.

Sora because he released his heart to the darkness and became a heartless to free Kairi. And Xehanort because he gave up his body to take over another.
