I think it's mostly because Expansion was a staggered release again. Doesn't feel as substantial when spread out, difficult to justify coming back for every small part of it. Formfactor is a repeat of previous two expansions as well, with Janthir later updates being mid at best, left a bad taste I imagine. The main selling point for all Expansions are a lot of new things to do and see, features, fresh stuff. Apart from new elites there isn't much of that. Plus classes are at the very beginning of the release, a boon and a curse at the same time.
Overall yeah, it's small-ish size without any hype crazy additions. A well executed, but stagnant content.
This year is also big on many good games. I'm struggling to juggle playing everything, GW2 ended up sitting on the bench for me.

I didn't even realise that the latest VoE content dropped, tried it yesterday and the map is real pretty but it feels dead as fuck.

What is the point of the rift amplification thing? I saw a tag doing them but it doesn't give anything worthwhile. Like 10 extra common rift essence. What the hell? What a stupid mastery and it delays the opening of the rift for no reason. Rifts are just so useless especially now with the new convergence timers where you can do 2 back-to-back

The drop rates for the Leyspring Hollow armor tokens seem to be abysmal or I am just very unlucky. I haven't gotten any of them except for the helmet at the end of campaign and have been doing events/metas/mirrors as much as I can.

I know everyone likes the in game stuff more but I do miss the old LN style shit. In game I am actually looking around for enemies/cheevos/shit. When I hear dialogue but dont know who is saying it then I have to pan the camera around to try and figure out what is going on, but the dialogue is so soft I still don't know. At least with the old stuff I could focus my attention on the dialogue or skip it entirely. Same for the new 'listen to everyone speak' cheevos where you click an option and then have to listen for 5 minutes. Except no one DOES listen for 5 minutes, we all tab out and do something else. Unironically just making it text to read at our own pace would make it more easily understood, require less voice acting, and save development time.

I think most people myself included like the ending just because the final 2 chapters or so are fairly well written. I won't say the 2nd to last one doesnt have some slow boring dialogue but narratively it concludes pretty nicely and a good ending can make you forget about the bad parts before it like how Dream Theater's Octavarium is a weird disjointed mess but comes the fuck together in the last 5 minutes.

It helps that the very last mission is just you, Isgarren, and Vloxx so you don't get Taimi levels of snark and quipping and it's actually taken not just seriously but sincerely.

More likely then you think. There was one moment in dev talks for Diablo 4, where they've showed dungeon designer developer girls playing. She barely could press 1 button on the controller, on lowest difficulty. Her previous job was in some kind of architecture or flat designer. She applied to Blizzard because it sounded fun and payed more. Many modern full time developers don't really care about games and there just to do the job.
GW2 devs are most likely writers who also need to make some gameplay. So they spam dialog and walking, because that's all they know.

I have some faith in GW3 because NCSoft and Anet have always been content to do their own thing regardless of other trends. But it really does give me live service vibes in a bad way. I took years off mostly around 2018-19 through 2023 to be a mostly Destiny 2 player since I didn't like how the story was progressing [discussion for another day]. Especially after IBS Episode 5: Champions, I almost had that laugh of insanity how bad they fucked up 2 elder dragons

Anyways GW3 is giving me such strong 3-man not-fireteam vibes, like Destiny + Highguard. We know what happened to both of those. A more skill based rpg is fine though I prefer first person. But it's more the model of the game that maybe worries me. An argument to be made that we run the same metas daily but if the structure is re-running the same missions repeatedly for gear & a more seasonal model of shit then I'm concerned. Live service seems like a ~2013-2022 thing that is winding its way down bad as everyone gets into extraction shooters. If they make it too kinetic then it's just gonna be a more ranged fantasy FPS like destiny. I fucking hate monster hunter so i really hope they don't try to cash in on that either but I guess I have 0 idea really, a lot can change. I trust Anet but I'm also worried they're chasing a dying trend.

I bound f1 to my mouse's center button, then distributed the rest to the other fkeys down the line (f2 skill being on the f1 key, f3 skill being on the f2 key, etc.)
Its been pretty dope for especs like Scourge where i plant shades with the mouse button then use the fkeys for the instacast shade skills.

Third mouse click is a modifier. Base side buttons are 1-6, modified become F1-F6. I play high APM classes, so got used to it very fast. If not for the big ping, I'd be quite efficient.

It's Logitech G600, but they've stopped making it a while ago. There is a Logicool G600, rebrand for Japan, that one is overpriced right now. Similar style MMO mice from Razor and Corsair exist, stupid expensive. Cheapest option are Redragon M900 MMO Mouse variations, 30$ max. Considering all of the above will inevitably get double clicks and other problems, seems like the best way is to give cheap one a try.
Personally, I still have my old Logitech. Clean the clickers with rubbing alcohol or hard liquor every month, for 2 years, so far so good lol

Obviously ANet is too pussy to state that directly. Vague technical problems is a handy excuse for any dev. Criticism or scrutiny can be easily deflected with "You never made a game or character rigs for such big MMO games, you don't know how hard it is or not". They are futureproofing reputation, communication history, not technology. Also later they can go "Our amazing tech team worked super hard to create a race with tails/wings/fins/plumes/extra wiggly bits" if need be.
It is similar to what Bungie is doing with Destiny. Delete 3/4th of the game because it's 'unreasonable to support & balance so much content for a live service game'. Couldn't be bothered to restore it even for a big court trial. Sent the judge a 4 hour lets play of old content to watch on youtube instead. And now when the shit hits the fan, suddenly they are willing to not close Destiny 2 and even restore all the old content 'we are listening to community and willing to work with (You) <3'
It's all dust in the eyes, they can develop everything fine if they actually wanted to.
