I’m a recovering alcoholic, and today I was accidentally served alcohol. It wasn’t intentional, but it still hit me hard. I’ve worked really hard on my sobriety, so even knowing I didn’t choose to drink, there was still this shitty feeling of “did I just lose something?”Then tonight I got to Aramis Hammerhand and the Undead Paladin quests, and I honestly wasn’t ready for it. The whole idea is already kind of insane in the best way. You’re undead. The Light hurts you. You’ve been changed in a way you can’t undo, and somehow you’re still choosing to be a Paladin anyway.The writing about suffering not making you less of a follower of the Light just fucking got me. Especially today. You can hurt. Something can happen to you. You can feel like you got knocked off the path for a second. That doesn’t mean the whole path disappears.I cried a lot playing this tonight. So, whoever wrote Aramis and this questline, thank you. I have no idea if recovery was anywhere in your head when you were writing it, but it reached me that way at a moment when I really needed it. I’m probably going to remember this quest for a long time.
