if retails raid mechanics are so good why don't other games copy it to add skill to the game?

Also the other part of skill you talk about is the + increased stat system which you can do in Classic by having the entire raid unequip half their gear or do it with just weapons for M+25 feel.

I don't feel like the argument that Preach makes that Retail takes skill is even correct. It's more like Retail takes Over Gearing and doing the Flash Game like Mechanic where you are juggling water buckets to X zone while watching out for lethal damage from Z zonse and some times you have a buddy you have to pair up with or there's a random push bounce mechanic.

XIV got skill better with the timing mechanics and skill based rotations that aren't just spamming and mashing your keyboard like retail I think too.

Gameplay is a bit iffy, I'd rather have had an expansion that was more on the traditional RTS side of the game instead of being closer to Rexxar's campaign which was primarily just hero focused as they run around doing everything, but it's whatever, I can ignore it for just being something good in a long while.

In the realm of the dead, I encountered other soldiers marching toward death, and that was a hundred times more compelling than what’s happening now. A good videogame story requires a good writer and a tard wrangler. You get all the benefits of a vision with someone ensuring there's direction to it. Someone is forced to deal with ideas bouncing back at them before it's become a joke post-release.
A genuinely awful videogame story is enabled by a writing team. You get no real unified vision, but you'll still have one guy ready to take the blame. I don't want to join the cutting edge gear treadmill, I don't have a guild and I'm happy enough to experience content in the LFR finder. Is the best way to get reasonable gear still just doing the LFR once a week and the LFG dungeon once a day?

Veteran gear is just bad. You can get champ and hero track stuff from preys and delves. Depends how high you wanna push your ilvl. You can also bonus roll the last two heroic bosses for myth gear and that's doable with no guild.

I don't really get prey and delves coz they're new to me. I have some quest for prey but when I go to the locations there aren't any mobs there. I did some delves in the campaign but the ilvl was sub-200, do I need to do them Heroic or something? How do I do this? And when you say the last row heroic bosses, do you mean in LFR or something?

Preys send you to a zone and put a filling crystal on your screen that you fill up with killing rares, collecting traps (visible on minimap) and doing the one crystal world quest it gives you.
Delves have tiers. Good gear starts at tier 8.
Raids and dungeons have higher difficulties that exist outside of the automatic finder tool. Groups are gathered manually by people in the group finder and then you physically head there. This is how you do mythic0 and mythic+ dungeons, and normal/heroic/mythic raid
