You know, I'm really struggling to think if anything past FNAF 1 in this franchise has any value. FNAF 2 started fucking things up immediately.It's incredible how royally those death minigames completely fucked the rest of the series forever, and nothing Scott did afterwards did anything but make the problems of the incomprehensible story even worse.The main issue is with how they show largely the same events but play fast and loose with the details.>First game establishes all kids died in a back room after the killer lured them with a costumeBut in the Fnaf 2 minigames>Foxy finds 5 dead kids and one purple guy in a single room>Freddy travels the pizzeria and finds 5 dead kids in many different rooms while encountering a purple guy roaming the place>Freddy gives children cake while a purple guy kills a kid outside the building>The Puppet revives 4 kids as animatronics but not the fifth oneThose first two in particular made many conclude there were even more murders, because the only information we get from those minigames directly contradicts what the first game establishes. However, we know that wasn't Scott's intention, because for the entire rest of the series we only see the first five kids. He was just being a moron and included those minigames to establish that the murders happened at the Fnaf 2 location, without paying attention to what he was actually doing.The Golden Freddy one gets even worse because it's clear GF was always special and probably always the first night guard's brother, but Scott continued to contradict himself and his answers never worked when you looked at the actual evidence he gave us. That's why a lot of people think Golden Freddy is two kids because that's the simplest answer with everything actually in the games taken into account, even though that doesn't seem to be Scott's intention at all.Like, all of it is just so incomprehensible and fucktarded that I can't think of anything valuable coming from it.

Everyone having a ball making the gang do random bullshit in Fortnite probably best highlights how the staying power of FNAF and the resulting "mascot horror" subgenre is basically all thanks to Scott inadvertently creating the most marketable horror characters of all time, and that's not said cynically because horror monsters that double as marketable cartoon characters is obviously baked into the premise. However the real kicker is that his designs were infinetly more charming than the real life animatronic mascots he was parodying, resulting in the funny dilemma where real life animatromics fell out of fashion partially because they were more unsettling than endearing while FNAF went on to become one of the biggest modern IPs because the characters were so endearing despite being framed as unsettling. This has granted the franchise almost limitless malleability, and is why there's so much variety in both the kinds of FNAF content out there and demographics the series resonates with. The other side to it is that FNAF is so big now that projects like Security Breach or the movies buckle under the weight of it and try to do it all, but in doing so can't commit to any of it and so don't really resonate the same as they would if they went either full scary or fully silly. There's a balance and a line that can be successfully tread there but sometimes it doesn't come out right for whatever reason, but it's funny because as i've grown up with the series (20's now) i've went from wanting FNAF to be as serious as it can be to validate my insecurity that it's not kiddieshit to growing up and embracing the inherently silly side to it. Im just glad we're in a position where we can have FNAF presented as grim and spooky (DBD) one moment and then Fortnite or FNAF World the nextexcuse the word salad but it's just really tickled my autism
