I'm doing series replay (and 100% in each game) and KH3 pleasantly surprised me this time.

Last time I played it on PC release I was kinda disappointed in story and had a lot of troubles on crit but now I'm feeling like is polar opposite.
Even hardest story fights where you forced to use weak characters like Riku feel ez.

Also last portion of the story feels better too. The whole sequence where you die and then chase Lich while creepy version of destati plays in background was really eerie and surreal. Love it.

Never expected myself to like KH3 this much.
However there is still one big downside to KH3. Frozen world. Holy shit it's bad. Really bad.
10 times worse than Atlantica and Monstro in KH1 combined.

Also my opinion on other KH games changed too after replay:

1. I never really liked KH1 but now it's in S-tier for me because of heavier more grounded combos and amazing magic system.
2. For KH2 I used to think this game was the goat but now it feels just ok.
3. BBS used to be my most favorite game in the series, I bought PSP just for it because at the time there was no good emulator, but after playing it again now that I'm adult I see how broken and weak it is. Kinda shocking. I guess as a PSP game it felt great but now on PC, compared to other big KH games and AAA releases it feels meh. Still, it gave us Nimoy as Nort and best girl Aqua, so it's existence is justified
4. DDD was already not my favorite but on this playthough I just dropped it. Fucking garbage. On tech side it's better than BBS but somehow it feels way worse to play.
5. Re:Coded is overhyped. Yeah, base gameplay and matrix is outstanding but the game constantly forces you into gimmicky stages and boss fights that don't utilize your moves and gear so it feels just as shitty as when you play Riku in KH3. However this is only issue if you play on Crit. If you play on normal or use guide and know when those gimmicks appear to lower difficulty in advance then it's no biggie.

DDD for me is one of my favorite games in the series, I can't get enough of it, but I agree with your KH1 take, I love its magic system, it's the best one in the franchise and I'll die on that hill. 2 is a let down in its level design, and it's funny because I didn't care much about that factor but the older I get the more I do. Have you done COM/ Days? Or are you going out of order and just playing in whatever order? Re: Coded is the game I have the least experience with but thanks to Melon Mix I'm going to replay it every year. I might just use my completed save and ramp the hp down and damage up and call it a day.

The whole point was that they were parts of Sora and, in Roxas’s case, Ventus. Just hand waving this away and saying they can live as permanently as replicas (something previously depicted as existentially horrifying) was cheap af. It’s sappy. Fake garbage. Days was better as a bittersweet story. Roxas would’ve been happier to learn about his past as a human rather than the artificial bullshit life he had in Twilight Town. Ven woulda had a better arc. No, Nomura’s writing is almost always genuine and from the heart. Days was actually genuine. And it was telling a bittersweet story about characters who wouldn’t be together forever but who would always remember each other. Roxas and Axel would meet again in the next life as their human selves, Lea and Ventus. The Days trio was never supposed to be the same as the BBS trio, who were created to be reunited permanently. Nomura was *pressured* to conform the Days story to the same standard as the BBS story for fanservice. He said he was hesitant until the last minute but acquiesced bc the FANS felt too strongly about it. That is why the writing felt manipulative and fake. That garbage FANFIC got no tears from me.

Darkness winning isn't the same as the Void. It's cool in concept, but doesn't really add much in execution outside of a cool clip or 2.
But magic feeling less samey and having utility magic like aero, stop, reflect and magnet is also one of my biggest wishes for kh4.

Ice rails are way too short and disappear too fast to actually be of any use conventionally. You have to go out of your way to want to use them which is obnoxious, not to mention most trash mobs disappear faster than a blink after a certain point so again no use for on demand flowmotion.

if the ice projectile travelled faster and the rails stayed longer, you can do some wacky shit with flow motion

seems fishy to me. The achievement about a character "Kara" which is his "last name" is referring to a superboss like Yozora. Are you telling me MoM is an optional superboss? Regardless, "His last name" is more about Luxu than MoM.
