2008 was literally the best time of my life.
I had real friends who actually wanted to be around me. I had good grades at school.
I played Death Knight on WotLK Retail when they were overtuned and overpowered. At level 60 I was globaling alliance scum by the dozens in AV (first AV bracket was still 50-60 in early WotLK, IIRC).
Now I can't really fix my life, that ship has long sailed, but at least I can spin up AzerothCore with PlayerBots and manually revert all the Death Knight nerfs so I can once again own ass in AV.
I've already changed gear generation in PlayerBots so that bots don't automatically get BiS gear for their level. I don't want to have to fight twinks.
Changing spell numbers is easy, and https://github.com/notacoder-dev/wxl-extended-dbc even lets me add and edit DBC rows without messing with the giant Spell.dbc or other big files.
I just put my rows as CSV and convert to DBC.
I'm even downloading incremental patches so I can get a 2.4.3 client, update it to 3.0.2 then 3.0.3 then 3.0.8 etc etc, and grab DBC files so I have exact DBC data (because wowwiki is very unreliable).
The hard part is re-implementing Shadow of Death the way it worked pre-3.0.8 (revive yourself as a ghoul after you die).
Has anyone here done anything like that?
I'll check how Spirit of Redemption works and go from there, it should be pretty similar.
Got any thoughts and insights for me aside kms?
