Combining Phantasmal Killer with any AoE spell will make it ignore all resistances and immunities, so it works on Undead for example. If you combine it with something that bypasses spell resistance (like exploding runes) you can target magic immune constructs as well.And the class is strong, even if you ignore the bugs, because some of the combos are outrageous, Slow+Hold Person ignores targetting restrictions, so it works on anything, not just humanoids, so at level 7 you have Mass Hold Monster, a 9th level spell equivalent, that also slows if the enemies pass the subsequent Hold Person checks. You can also make normally single target save or die spells, like Baleful Polymorph, into an AoE that also ignores targetting restrictions, so you can target swarms and Undead for example, Baleful Polymorph also sets the latter's CHA to 1, so they essentially have 10 HP left.

It's definetely a bug, the description for magic fusion explicitly states that the fused spell inherits all the descriptors of its parent spells, which are what determines a spell's interaction with immunities. For lingering, i.e. non-instant spells, it works correctly, for example Baleful Polymorph won't work on plant-type enemies because they have an explicit immunity to the effect. Same thing with Hold Person and immunity to paralysis. But for some reason AoE instant effects, e.g. Phantasmal Killer + Slow, will ignore immunities, at least the PK part, if you're immune to Slow you will not be slowed, but you will have to make the two saves for PK. The same interaction occurs with the Grandmaster Rod, i.e. casting Weird on the ground with GR on will ignore all immunities, even magic immunity, but casting Mass Icy Prison will not ignore immunity to paralysis. It's a very wonky fucking game.
