The problem is that they simply never gave a shit about this game from the very beginning. The one part of Smilegate that still seems genuinely passionate about this game is the balance dev team. They’ve been putting a lot of effort into improving the gameplay lately, but unfortunately, chinese players really don’t like nerfs, and that ended up hurting the game’s revenue.
