Do y'all think a blind second Angelechy build could be viable? Going first the most you make is 1 trap (either Verdict or Opposition) + a generic level 10 synchro + floodgates that are relatively easy to out and Witness of the Ancients is a winmore card that requires multiple extra engines to be worthwhile, while going second the deck is a OTK machine that can run 24 HTs out of 40 cards, runs multiple different spell starters, and summons a crazy amount of beaters with banishing effects

When did pile decks become the standard?
I'm not talking about decks with obvious synergy such as Mermail and Atlantean, I'm talking about decks that only share one bridge card to go from one archetype to the other.
Obviously this is a recent thing, because the strategy became much more viable thanks to 1-card combos that weren't very common back then.
Is Fiendsmith the one to blame? Mitsurugi?

The engines bridge too well into each other
Like a single one of the starters could bridge into every other engine sequentially.
There are too many good cards to play and you can't realistically fit all of them into a 40 cards list without losing out on a lot of things.
More importantly it's just fun to play pile decks.

When bridges either started requiring a single card, started requiring extra-generic materials instead of specific synchro/xyz levels or decks started getting so many surplus materials in addition to their full board so deck mixing stopped having any cost outside of slightly more bricks

They should have made it an upgrade, since it's a fusion of SQD and CBD (and let's be real, it wouldn't be really worth the resources and effort). Maybe negating ALL effects of the monsters it battles with, destroying only your opponent's monsters when it leaves the field and floating into any Level 11 or lower Stardust Dragon-related monster.
