The moment he called SF4 the beginning of the Golden age of the FGC is when I immediately knew it was time for me to pause the video and drop some knowledge being someone who actually grew up in the scene during those times and saw with my own eyes. The Golden age of fighting games was in the 90s and early 2000s. That is the absolute 1st correction that needs to be made. That is a fact nobody can refute nor argue with it. During the mid to late 2000s between 2004/5 - 2008 is when fighting games started to die off and nobody was playing them...LITERALLY. Those were the ORIGNAL first FGC dark ages.2009 is when fighting games became the focus again thanks to SF4. Which is what we call the fighting game RESURGENCE. Because the FGC already had a golden age, and it already died before then. What we are experiencing now is that again....But on a larger scale. So yeah, this is actually the FGC Dark ages 2.0. And at this point theres gonna have to be another game like an SF4 was back then to save it......and honestly the only game I can see that being is Virtua fighter Crossroads.
