XV days until Resonance.
>the last thread that hit 750 was started September 19th>thread lasted a week (26th)>meaning that the TGS Revelation demo killed ALL discussion of Final Fantasy, even schizo namefag theatre>it's been 11 days since the last successful /ffg/ thread>/ffg/ has died 6 times in those 11 days>this is the 7th attempt, and it will probably also fail unless one of the schizos decides to samefag it hundreds of timesIt's time to let it die. There are people who have spent the past 6 years or more shitposting about Final Fantasy for 12+ hours per day, and either the Revelation demo finally killed the defenders, or WoW Forever killed the shitposters. It's dead. Looong overdue. Just go to /v/ or /vr/ or wherever.
>>583728456>WoW Forever killed XIV hype>Asmongold is killing WoW Forever>XIV might be saved yet again by the roach king
>>583729987There is not a significant overlap between XIV players and WoW players, besides the WoW players that Asmongold brought over in the first place. If anything, I think Aion 2 has a higher likelihood of "stealing" XIV players at this moment, because you can make a very attractive sex doll in that game.
What lesson can we learn from all this?
>>583731270Don't spend 6+ years trying to win an internet argument. Especially when you're just a drone who will run unpaid shill defense no matter what. If you spent years saying things like that the Whispers would never come back in Part 2, only for the doomer secondaries who didn't even play the game to be continually proven correct over and over and over and over again throughout the years, you really need to pause, take a step back, reexamine your life, and probably detox from the internet for a few months.
I like how Clive actually proves anabella right by being this super special ultrabeing. Her only real failure was being unable to realize that her son was Lord she always dreamed of birthing. FF16's messaging is so fucking confusing.
You guys must really love FFXVI, eh?
>>583736395I'm just one guy commenting on the shit that annoys me about the game as I play it. I'm at the end game now. I'm seeing a game that could have been much much more interesting but overall it's a mess.
>>583736395We have never stopped talking about it since before it even released.
>>583730378Aion 2's gameplay looks like its borrowed a lot from XIV's telegraphed orange ground markers too.
>>583736395I'm not even exaggerating when I say it might legitimately be my least favorite video game of all time.
>>583737221>looks like its borrowed a lot from XIV's telegraphed orange ground markers toohttps://x.com/pya_strzSS/status/2107030954082803861That's just the design language that all MMO and MMO-adjacent games use now. The Granblue game uses it, gacha games use it, other MMOs use it, etc. It's very "readable" and "musical chairs" is an easy enough concept to apply to any game where you move your character around. Multiple games have even straight up copypasted fights 1:1 from XIV into their game (always Chinese)It is an extremely influential game.
>>583738278the most respected.
>>583736395It was voted ffg’s #1 Final Fantasy in a poll we all agreed to honor no matter the results. So yes ffg loves XVI and only shitposters disagree.
My wife Eiko is super cute!I'm gonna miss you guys when we're gone.
It's a shame XIV keeps losing players and there's barely any hype around Evercold.
Final fantasy should do what BotW did. Have a culmination of worlds and references to past titles.
>>583728456>>583729987No. The VIIRgins killed /ffg/.
>>583736595>I'm seeing a game that could have been much much more interesting but overall it's a mess.Innumerable such cases, unfortunately. >>583737459>it might legitimately be my least favorite video game of all timeSame. Not sure I've ever completed any modern 3D game that I disliked playing more than XVI. And I've completed Dragon Age Veilguard, Forspoken, Wolverine, TLOU2, and many other "terrible" games.
>>583759646Funny how immediately after this post, a completely normal, organic post appears to take a dig at FFXVI.I'm noticing that whenever VIIR get criticized, someone has something to say about FFXVI. Curious...
>Naoki Hamaguchi says-SHUT UP AND WORK NIGGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>583765227>Naoki Hamaguchi saysI'm not gonna lie I thought they were going to be a lot stingier keeping things close to their chest, but they're really showing way too much. The mystery and allure of the game is vaporizing. I really, really didn't want to see the Chocobo rubber ducky hot springs thing. It's not that I don't like it, it's that I would have REALLY preferred to stumble upon something like that rather than 6 months before the game is out.I don't understand the strategy of doing all this. Maybe it's for one final pass of feedback before the game is complete? I don't think there's enough time for them to meaningfully change much about the final product.
For what it's worth I just finished XVI now after playing 17 other FF games in a marathon and I loved it. Definitely get the critiques over the pacing at times but wasn't really bothered by itNow I have to do the 13 trilogy and finally the 7 remakes
>>583766878Who asked you?
distressing lack of tifa breastfeeding art
>>583766878I asked.
>>583767385Just do yourself a favor and don't bother with the trilogy beyond the first game. For all the bitching about 7R adding shit, XIII's sequels are the textbook definitions of unnecessary additions and only exist because SE needed the money.
>>583768863XIII was just fucked from the beginning because the director sold Lightning as his perfect waifu. Then the game came out and people realized that Lightning wasn't a waifu, he was a tranny that shouted at everyone like a girlboss.
What the FUCK was the original line here? For context, this is after Tifa is glad Cloud ultimately came back, and Cloud apologizes for being too late. Then comes Sephiroth saying that.
>Final Fantasy XIII killed ALL interest in Final Fatnasy>Final Fantasy XIV: ARR brought it back >Final Fantasy VII: Remake could have brought back Final Fantasy, but then people actually played it, saw the Whispers, and ultimately no one cared>XIV has more relevancy than Final Fantasy ever since Shadowbringers>Final Fantasy would have ZERO relevancy if it weren't for XIVThey don't think it be like it is, but it do.
>>583770478Almost certainly it was "sasuga"
>>583770672So something in the way of "that's so like you", as in to stab people from behind? Or play hero?I understand a bit, but it's still a nebulous line.
Rewatching that scene from FFVII to remember it, and damn, is the translation awful.Sephiroth and Zack both refer to Cloud by name, so they know him, and Sephiroth knows him well enough to know Nibelheim is his hometown, yet when Sephiroth get attacked from behind by Cloud, he doesn't "who dares", or "who", but "who are you", which suggests he genuinely has no clue who Cloud is.I get that back then, translating meant "here's a text file with all the game lines and no context whatsoever", but still.
>>583771116The original VII was translated into English by just one person, Michael Baskett. He was given only a few weeks to translate a massive script with thousands of lines of text, all in isolated spreadsheets with no visual context. He had to translate lines without knowing who was speaking, where the scene was taking place, or what was happening in the wider story.
>>583771778>He had to translate lines without knowing who was speakingWait, the name wasn't even visible in the text string? It wasn't written likeSephiroth:: "Don't push your luck!"
>>583770478>>583771116I am bored and was curios too, so I watched a playthrough of that part in Japanese and translated it with Google. I was wrong, it wasn't "sasuga". I'm not sure what exactly it means. Maybe it's something like:>"[I can't believe] [someone like you / even you] [would defy me]"or something like that
>>583772180That makes a lot more sense. And it's also a lot scarier how Sephiroth went from the nicest guy ever to "you are all insects, bugs, worms and sodomites!"
>>583772324Yeah the English translation really does not convey a correct meaning at all. Again, I'm not sure exactly what it's saying, I don't know Japanese beyond standard anime words and phrases, just my best guess with translation tools and the original text.
>>583767385My problem is the story. There's no real nuance and for all the claims that it was going to be a darker story, all that's really dark about it is that the enemies coat the floor in blood. I think my biggest problem is how much it tries to rip off FFT and does it so much worse. Also, I wasn't a fan of the game saying it takes days to get places than ignore it after the prologue where clive, dion and mid are just fast traveling what would take weeks on foot in five seconds. There's really no consistency. Which wouldn't be noticeable if they hadn't done it so egregiously.
>>583772545The problem is that, in my understanding, Japanese is a language that relies very, very heavily on context. It's kinda like Elvish in Lord of the Ring or Warhammer, who can mean one thing, or the opposite, and you have to find out which one.So asking someone to translate it blindly, yeah...
>>583772806>Japanese is a language that relies very, very heavily on context.Yeah, that's my understanding as well, sometimes it's kind of on the listener to infer who or what a comment might be about.
>>583772992Poor Mickael, no wonder the translation is shit at time.
>>583766878Fightning Fantasy Claire Edition...the best one...
Damn the fatherless really is trying hard to kill /ffg/ with its cockroach-like spam.I wonder what motivates it to hate freedom of speech. Is it the terror that someone could criticize VIIR?
>>583775742People who grew up with a father figure tend to do stupid things for attention. And when they miserably fail to get the attention they want, they get bitter and spiteful and sad and miserable, and try to ruin fun things for everyone.
That checks out, he's so sad to watch.
>>583728456/vr/ is too dogshit to be preferable than here
>>583779074As soon as the people who come here to monitor threads for posts they dislike while claiming they would love nothing more than to talk about final fantasy start posting about final fantasy we will be fine.I don't think claiming talking about final fantasy here is impossible due to shitposters and schizos holds up anymore when the threads are literally dying from inactivity. Nobody is posting, so there's never been a better time to have all those final fantasy discussions our regulars have been so desperate to have.
>>583779279All these people have been chased out by the Final Fantasy House discouraging any kind of discussion that isn't mindless praising of their trash game.
>>583779304It was obvious a year ago that there were posters here whose endgame was nobody talking about anything, because that's preferable to anyone potentially criticizing their game.Unfortunately, they won. They got their wish and /ffg/ is dead and their game is safe.
>>583780057Sadly. I made the OP, and that filth immediately hijacked the thread again to spam their tranny pseudo-waifu and silence every criticism of VIIR, even when nobody even brought it up.It's so tiresome how they shit discussions before they even start. Even a talk about VII's translation get spammed by the orphaned one.
>>583779279Im just saying /vr/ is not anything different, if not, worse, than current /ffg/.
>>583772180ごとき / ごとく / gotoki & gotoku is a old variation of よう / you, which is used for "like". It's the exact same term used in Ryu ga Gotoku / Like a Dragon. The reason why the old TL had a brainfart here is because the japanese sentence implies but doesn't write the verb after the に particle, which I'm guessing the translators at the same time didn't bother checking about the sentence in context (or, most likely, didn't have the time). The more literal TL would be "(Getting defeated / caught / stabbed / opposed etc.) By someone like you..."
>>583728456You can thank me for shaming the 'zo into eternal silence and let the thread rest. You're welcome. He knows.
>>583781492>implies but doesn't write the verbSo what, is Sephiroth talkin' some shorten'd stuff 'ere? Or is it to suggest he's in pain and more like hiccuping and stuttering?
>>583784551The sentence is cut off because he's writhing in pain (but mostly for dramatic effect). It just sounds weird for a non-Jap speaker because verbs come at the end of the sentence so you need to infer it through the context of the scene, but it comes regularly in anime and such.
>>583785470Haa, okay. Maybe is what's-his-face knew what the context was, he could've figured out why he only had half a sentence to work with.Man, this is irritating: this is so stupid when you learn about it like that. Just a few lines here and here to explain what's going on would've massively improved the game.
>>583718685i said it last thread, i wont post or care about FF anymore thanks to Jimbo. Thanks man, i really needed those falseflags.

What went wrong?
>>583790830Well, was there even a point to it to begin with?
>>583790830The game did nothing wrong. It gave us more time with the characters. The only thing that went wrong was the public not being grateful for it and failing to support it enough.

>>583794831Are you gonna talk about Final Fantasy one day, or are you going to keep bitching about that guy who humiliates Jimbo whenever he tries to shit up the thread?
>>583796320>that guy who humiliates JimboSorry bro but saying "I hate Jimbo so much I refuse to talk about final fantasy any more" is much more embarrassing for you than it is for them. How are they supposed to feel humiliated by this? That makes no sense.
>>583796320You pissed off Jimbo, it's raging even more.
There we go. Always the exact same. The moment you ask a question he can't answer, his shadow arrives to back him up. And does his agreeable friend have an answer? Nope.Utterly mindbroken. Very sad. But 7 years of seething about a guy for no reason that can be rationally explained will do that to a guy I suppose.
>>583797380>for no reasonAre we pretending he didn't say lol in response to Caleb giving Rebirth a 9/10 on stream now?
Speaking of. What's the final verdict on 7's steam port anyway? I understand it was changed for the worse at release, but I don't know if it was actually fixed and worth it now, or if I should still avoid it.
>>583798254Avoid it. Emulate Playstation.
>>583798303Will do, then, thanks.

And then you disappear when asked a question about him and someone else shows up to talk about him instead, and they are always on your side, but also don't answer. And then you appear again, and the question has been dodged. And this has happened hundreds of times. I'm curious if the death of /ffg/ means you'll "all" have to forget about jimbo after 7 years of obsession.
>>583802436>And then you appear again, and the question has been dodged??
>>583802567He literally was right about everything in the end. Total victory.
>>583802716Neither I or anyone else here will be providing a single example that challenges that conclusion. Which is unusual considering how many of us would love to. But it makes sense when you know we simply cannot no matter how satisfying it would be. He was right. I admit it. About everything.
>the doomer secondary yoshicultists who didn't even play the game were right about literally everything, repeatedly, many times, continually, for years>the biggest fan in the entire world who spent 7 years running defense for VIIR all across the internet has never, not ever, not even once, ever been correct about anythingThis kind of phenomenon needs to be studied.
Is there stuff to like in the FFX expanded lore stuff? Audio dramas, etc. Ive replayed FFX so many times, never touched anything after that besides FFX-2 as a child, and never beat it. FFX is holy to me. Sacred. Its kinda absurd I have never checked out what happened past that. Im just scared. I probably should just to see what they did with it. I know Ill probably hate the new lore but I just want to be back in Spira again.
>>583808106If you ignore the bad stuff you'll quickly realise that everything they added to the lore and worldbuilding is good.
>>583808304This is how you actually feel and not falseflag at allthanks for contributing to FF discussion, Jimbo
>>583808304This post about FFX's lore is an attack on the FFVIIR fanbase. Myself included. In fact, just me.
>>583808106No. Everything they added just pollutes the original. Unless you are fine with the idea that Tidus after being brought back kicked a blitzball and blew himself up. Yuna brought him back to life again only to dump him a month later and Sin actually isn't dead it was just sleeping.
>>583808106For some people, the more sacred a game is to them, the more they like any expanded lore they get. However, I can only speak to my own opinion and experience. I like FFX, but I don't view it as holy or sacred or anything. Like for example, I do view CT as sacred and at this point I dread it getting even so much as an HD2D Remake with voice acting because I know it will get fucked up somehow, like how even in the otherwise pretty kino DS remaster, they added content (which ranges from bad to mid) still tries to retcon CC as being a sequel to Trigger when the only thing connecting the games at all is an info dump at the very end, but I digress. Anyway, FFX is not sacred to me, but I thought X-2 was a better game than X. Better and more fun, also more lighthearted. Some people think it pisses all over the veritable (but not actual) "misery porn" of X, but it's now the Eternal Calm, so it makes sense within the lore. They don't like that Yuna became a pop star, but she's like the most popular person in the world, she created the Eternal Calm, it makes sense that people would love her, and in a sense pop stars spread cheer throughout the world, which is kinda of what she's doing; she's going on a new pilgrimage across the world, to all the places she visited the first time, except this time it's not a misery porn death march. Some people hate that. I don't think it's all good, but after over a decade of not playing it because I thought it'd suck, I was very pleasantly surprised by it. Mostly from the gameplay and systems angle. It also has the best (and only actually good) minigame in the entire series, Creature Creator, and you don't even need to use YRP for the game if you don't want to, you can use your creatures. The audio drama is some lover's quarrel, woman wants attention so she starts a fight shit. I didn't read wherever Tidus blows himself up on a Blitzball. If it's sacred to you and if you take yourself too seriously, you'll probably hate it.

I'm sure I don't even need to say this as we've all witnessed this routine 100 times before. The schizo will scream about the evil jimbo, repeatedly, for hours. Never actually explaining why, but always alluding to some awful posting crimes that he's definitely guilty of. Eventually someone will ask him a question or seek some sort of explaination or clarifier. Then he shuts up. Sometimes "someone else" pops up immediately to show him support, and they "both" don't answer the question. They then cool off for a bit but resume where they left off a little later without having explained. We've been here many many times.
Retitle the series to Futa Fantasy. FF is saved. No need to thank me.

I think above everything else the reason I don't like 16 more than other games like 13 or 15 is because I feel like I'm being preached to. This game is supposed to be mature yet it's very simple and juvenal at the end of the day.
At the end of the day, Beyond: Two Souls was just Final Fantasy: Spirits Within but better.

And people call Nomura writing fakedeepCompare XVI's verobosity and hollow depth to XV dialogue's brevity during emotional scenes that lands much harder. Nothing in FFXVI ever came close to Nocto's final line at the campfire of "Seeing you here now, it's…more than I can take." or Vanille's sacrificial proverb "Wishes can come true. But not if you just wait for miracles. Miracles are things we make for ourselves, here and now." The small and tender character dialogue moments is what Final Fantasy's tone is built on, that's where the depth and maturity comes from. Not endless diatribes and soapboxing

I can appreciate everything it tried to do even if it failed at all of it.16 wasn’t ambitious enough. It really didn’t do anything original, it just tried to emulate what came before it. It was baby’s first character action game, a cheap knockoff of other games that did it better. The aesthetic was bleak and generic. The story was nothing special. RebirthAnon here. Still just exploring the world, leveling up, getting loot, towers. Etc.Althrough Ive yet to dive into the story, Im fully sold on this game. Its very relaxing and fun. I like having these legendary party with me, love playing as each character. Its really fun to focus on one for a while and swapping when you want the gameplay to be different. My concerns about the open world are completely gone. This is fun. Hope I can recruit Yuffie soon. I want to play as her. Wondering if I should focus on story so I can get closer to that
I'm finally getting to the final quest in 16. It really feels like Dion and Joshua were supposed to be lovers but they cut it for time and probably because Joshua is too important. There are just lines that imply it that they didn't cut though. >>5839960127R is a game I wish I could love. The characters are great but the meta bullshit and all the fartsniffing about how they hid that this was basically a sequel soured me on it. They ruined all of the best midgard scenes in the remake because they couldn't have the heroes fail at anything. The plate drop scene was a really good failure scene. That they fucked up for no reason. President Shinra talking about his stupid golden gun made me so fucking mad. I might pirate rebirth because the character interactions between the group are all really great but I'm not going to spend more money on it out of principle.

Well 16's ending was as unsatisfying as the rest of the game. I don't know how removing magic stops all the magical creatures that can use aether. >>584028968The Final Fatnazi House has been bringing up XVI a whole lot since this was posted. Curious, don't you think?
>>584008263I mean there's a bunch to compare and contrast. Mako is an energy source that comes from the land but materia is not. Materia and magic naturally occurs in FF7. In 16, magic just kind of exists from an alien space race. The problem with it for me is that if Aether use causes blights than how do aether floods form without utterly destroying the land. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in how aether works and killing all magic seems to be doing nothing. Like Bahamut used an insane amount of aether more than titan and he survived until the plot said he shouldn't. Yet his actions didn't spread the blight at all. On a sidenote, we technically don't even know if he died either.
>>584034701materia is concentrated mako anonit's not natural

It was the poll for the best FF to start the franchise with, right? Probably XIV, then.
>>584043368>What about GOTY awards? Still irrelevant or are they also having their importance reassessed?I have a feeling that if Revelation wins or is nominated for GotY, they will matter quite a lot. We will probably even use them as shitpost fuel for flamewarring, both within and without. However, the nanosecond that Revelation doesn't win, god forbid, GotY will no longer be important and it will just be shill shit... EXCEPT when E33 won every award... there was no shilling involved with that either. After all, why would a small, wealthy, extremely well connected indie studio of a mere 33 people (and hundreds more outsourced) even want to buy a year's worth of awards for their game? It just doesn't make any sense.
>>584043903https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/552279106/#q552596948He did say he was excited and that he'd accept the results of the poll no matter what. And then he'd delete all the votes as a daily "reset" for some reason. All while no one except him could see the black box of what he was doing.

A thought experiment:(I'm going to round to 500 and 1000 and 400k for easier math)If 1000 reviews = 400k sales @ $10then 500 reviews = 200k sales @ $20So it's possible that the amount of money generated by each game is basically the same. Especially once you consider that XVI cost *HALF* of what Remake and Rebirth each cost to produce.

>>584046640Here's the thing - XVI never "flopped", it received a sales celebration announcement 6 days after release. Rebirth is pretty much the only game that Square Enix has never had a sales announcement for. It's the only Square Enix game on the "chopping block", as it were, unless you want to start counting things like Foamstars (which Rebirth's was mentioned alongside) or Killer Inn. The only game with "something to prove" right now is Rebirth, which is why anon keeps updating us about how many copies it sold @ a $10 deep discount. But other posts were wondering where XVI is, so I posted the little thought experiment. It might be ~200k sales @ $20, based on Rebirth's own numbers, which would put the revenue generated at being basically the same, with XVI costing half as much to produce as well.
>>584047019t.
>>584047019The report that said XVI cost half of what it took to make Remake and Rebirth also said it only sold 3.5 million copies as of May 2025, AND gave us this gem. If the development cost is true then the rest concerning XVI must also be true, right?
>>584047081I accept your concession. >>584047274>If the development cost is true then the rest concerning XVI must also be true, right? We already did this, little man, and it didn't go the way you wanted it to go, remember? Yes, it is true that XVI cost *HALF* of what Remake and Rebirth *each* cost to produce, and it is also true that a Metacritic review (taken from Metacritic) said the things in your image.
>>584047274That picture you cling to so desperately has been debunked many times as propaganda to make SE look worse than it is.

>xvi is seemingly the most beloved game on /ffg/ by a wide margin according to the poll>rarely, if ever gets any positive discussion on /ffg/
>>584069237>the pollThat's because XVI was spammed with hundreds of votes all night and day by the butthurt fatherless spammer using a VPN. He literally bragged about doing this for hours of his life. When the first night of votes were posted and FFXVI had less votes than XIII, the spammer asked for the link. Suddenly moments later, dozens and dozens of votes start getting spammed one after another every 30 seconds. During the middle of the night here in America, btw. All of the votes were for XVI, XIV, or Tactics. He came to /ffg/ periodically inbetween spamming to brag about his work, and how XVI/XIV/Tactics deserve to win. Despite the vote totals being private. Very funny huh?I tallied vote totals into a document before hitting reset at midnight. Then I watched him squirm, removed/restored each of the vote options that he kept spamming, he got so mad that I was cockblocking him he started to spam other games that his boogieman likes. VIIR, XV and Stranger of Paradise got spam while he cried in /ffg/, "why won't he delete VIIR?"Then write-in votes got spammed, things like "I can do this all day with a VPN", "10/10 FFXVI" and other buzzwords crying about Paulie/Lightning. Most games only got 1-4 votes each on a daily basis but FFXVI somehow went from no votes on day one to ~100 votes before the sun had risen on day two. I blogposted about this meltdown as it happened, and posted evidence of vote spam. It was very hilarious. Somehow this means I'm a liar though, but not the guy spamming the poll. The fatherless spammer honestly believes that spamming and trolling on this website means he wins. Definitely not a White man.Want to know the best part? He's never played the game. This post will be unrefuted and he will reply to himself. Can't play FFXVI because his shitty laptop PC can't run it and his 250GB HDD is too small. FFXVI is championed and defended tooth and nail by a schizophrenic ESL spammer who has never played the game.
>>584048228It's true. So little care about it at all, its sole fan on /ffg/ (who has never played it) thinks that there's only one guy that hates on it. That's how dire the situation really is. Only one fan, only one hater.
>>584045362>>584047019I have a question for Mr unbiased, since you're still here constantly defending XVI instead of ignoring posts you don't like about Yoshida's games. How can it be a good thing that FFXVI doesn't have momentum, nor any kind of positive or worthwhile discussions hanging around it? Is FFXVI good for the FF series JUST because (You) claim that it did well financially? (when Bloomberg and SE claim otherwise)Let's say XVI is "not a flop" as a thought experiment. Why should anyone care when the game sucks ass? SE makes money on all kinds of deals and we don't work at SE. We really should only care about whether a game is a good FF game, or not. Because that's what is going to lead to further FF games in the future, more worthwhile experiences for us to discuss and recommend for others to share. A good game tends to do that, influencing more good games to get madeFFXVI could have sold 10 million copies on the PS5 like the gun and ball game they tried to market it as, generating a ton of revenue for SE instead of vaporizing 2 billion in stock evaluation. But FFXVI would still be a very bad FF game that gamers and the company alike don't want to discuss. The fact that people aren't playing, modding or talking about it at all just 3 years after release is a really bad sign. Revenue has absolutely nothing to do with it. The game simply doesn't move the needle at all.FFXVI's quality can't/won't/will never generate a quarter of the eyeballs and interest that most FF games before and after were able to generate. So again I ask very succinctly. How can the FFXVI situation possibly be considered anything but a stinking failure? Will you ever admit that reality indeed reflects poorly on FFXVI's quality and value as a game in the FF series? Or can you only ever defend XVI while attacking Rebirth (the better FF game) while shitposting sales updates and budgets for the 1000th time
>>584051528He's just like Jimbo actually. Imaginary. A delusional projection cooked up by a schizophrenic. Just like with Jimbo, anyone here who actually posts about FF has been accused of being Paulie at least once.

>>584086089Neither 16 nor Rebirth are financial failures in the sense of not generating net revenue. In all likelihood, they have been generating it for a long time. Both 16 and Rebirth are considered failures from investor's perspective, as the growth trajectory isn't steep enough for their liking.16 is a nothingburger in terms of cultural impact, whereas Rebirth continues to engage players worldwide somehow.Hope this helps.

>>584091185Oh yeah. Well, Rebirth has been $10 for the past month, and it showed up as like the 8th most sold game on Steam the past month, so now Rebirth's sales matter a lot and they are very good actually. Unfortunately, reviews are mixed, because people are actually playing Rebirth. What I've always found most impressive about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is that every single negative Steam review has HUNDREDS, literally *HUNDREDS* of updoot reactions of people who agree with it. These aren't even cherry picked reviews. These are literally just the top reviews of the past month. And it's always like this. The most recent negative reviews, no matter when you look, always have literally *HUNDREDS* of updoots on them of people agreeing with the negative review. It's truly unique. Reviews are very important! Don't look at the number of people actually playing our game. Reviews are what matter most. Please ignore the fact that, according to Steam charts, the player count for Rebirth has been two to three times higher than that of XVI for years!
>>584092069The people who like Rebirth do tend to stay within the world of Rebirth for an overly long amount of time due to the engagement metrics that Hamaguchi has designed the game around, yes. The people who really really like Rebirth might even play through it multiple times with mods. I will once again reiterate that I have NEVER seen a game where for over a year, the most recent reviews page always has a negative review (often multiple negative reviews) at the top and each one of them has literally *HUNDREDS* of updoots agreeing with it. That's the most impressive part of Rebirth to me - that it seems to me almost equally liked and disliked.

>>584092492It's a failure as a Final Fantasy game. It is a success as an Ubisoft game. Revelation is going to be interesting. The Ubisoft elements will be cranked to 11. The Chadley elements will be doubled. The Final Fantasy VII elements will take a step back... and you'll be able to skip over 100 hours of "content" if you don't want to do it, theoretically making everyone who complained about Rebirth's minigames happy as well.

Ex-Ubisoft devs made a traditional JRPG, and now the traditional JRPG makers decided to turn possibly the most iconic JRPG IP in existence into an Ubisoft game.
I see the shitposters are starting to warm up. Sure, Rebirth has elements of the Ubisoft formula, but they aren't nearly as pronounced as they are in current Ubisoft titles. Rebirth recaptures that "box of toys" feel that defined the original. Revelation will bring back the airship. The entire trilogy represents a massive return to the roots of the PS1 golden age—a return to the very things that made us love these games in the first place.Strategically, Rebirth is a definite net positive for the series. XVI, on the other hand, is a total failure for the franchise.
>>584092762>Chadley elements will be doubledGood. I love my VR missions
>>584092932This image is how I'm envisioning Revelation's game layout will go. It's mostly speculation based on the fact that we know there will be a point in the story where the game will ask if you want to "raise your level to the recommended level". I don't know how or why they would ever think that was necessary, unless they have already designed the middle of the game to revolve around choreslop, which they then discovered in playtesting that players did not actually want to engage with.

The party was able to return to their humanity though as the spell is broken by their shared bond and desire to see the future they all envision. When they kill Orphan, Cocoon falls, technically fulfilling their Focus. But Fang and Vanille commit a final act of sacrifice, using their divine power to summon a crystal pillar and save everyone on Cocoon. The party is freed from crystal stasis at the end because they successfully defeated their unjust fate, and the Goddess of Death (who opened the gate that sucked up all the monsters) was so moved by this miracle that she broke the curse and they all lived happily ever after. What part didn't you understand? >>584098117That's not me >>584098278, anon.It seemed to me that the Goddess of Death saved them from becoming Cie'th too, since they all ended up with a white tattoo afterward.Previously, only Fang had a white tattoo, one she acquired after transforming into Ragnarok on her own, a thousand years before the game began. One of the datalogs mentioned that when Ragnarok appeared, the Goddess returned Fang to human form. Here is the quote: "and so She robbed Ragnarok of power, putting the l'Cie to an early crystal sleep". But only Fang had this tatoo from the beginning because Vanille didn't turn for some reason I don't remember. It all seems logical, though with FFXIII I constantly worry that I’m missing something. The storytelling of CS1 gradually turns you into a schizo no shit.
>>584098880No, I did not intend my post for that post. Obviously. Also, that greentext post isn't even addressed to anyone, whereas the post I did actually link to did address someone.
>>584098968>The storytelling of XIII gradually turns you into a schizoIrrefutable
>>584098638>Lightning Returns predicted /ffg/.The most profound and socially relevant story yet....
Honestly, this Steam review is a perfect representation of /ffg/. The only thing missing is that no one here is calling anyone else a Yoshicultist. If you added 1 or 2 posts saying:>"you only hated the Rebirth's Ubislop bloat because you're a Yoshicultist"it would perfectly encapsulate /ffg/.
>>584098968>It seemed to me that the Goddess of Death saved them from becoming Cie'th tooNo they definitely became Cieth, they felt the darkness and loneliness. Lightning even says "could be Falcie smoke and mirrors". Fang never became Cieth, I was under the impression the white tattoo is related to her memory being erased from the transformation. That was why Vanilles tattoo was still the same.>they all ended up with a white tattoo afterward.Really? I've never noticed that the party has white tattoos in that scene, I don't know if that's true or not. Do you have an image?>>584099142>everyone who posts Lightning is all the same oneguy, the evil savior with pink hair>to protect our cult, we must attack and destroy the boogieman, anyone suspected of posting LightningPretty fucking insane, huh? Lightning literally dismantles a bloodthirsty cult that goes after innocent people they think are the boogieman during the opening hours of her solo game.
>>584099434>The only thing missing is that no one here is calling anyone else a Yoshicultist.Or "Jimbo", now that I think about it. He's currently melting down about Yoshicultists so I forgot about Jimbo, since he's not melting about Jimbo right now. So you add 1 post accusing OP of being a Yoshicultist, you add another post on a different account that has a shared library with the first account, and you accuse the OP of being Jimbo, and then it's just /ffg/.
>there are more people shitposting about Rebirth in Steam review comment sections than are playing FFXVI
>>584099449They show it to you from a different angles for 1-2 seconds, but it’s very easy to overlook. I didn’t even notice it myself. Things get really convoluted at the end, and there’s a huge amount of visual storytelling. The whole XIII's ending reminded me of VIII on steroids.
>>584099846Anon, careful. You're making the mistake of thinking that all opinions you disagree with are shitposts. When you're the biggest shitposter here, it's dangerous for your narrative as a righteous anti-shitposter if you start saying that "opinions I disagree with even on other websites" are shitposts.
>>584099850Ah very nice there it is. So then you're right, Etro intervened. The white brand means they are locked and that they "can't" become Cieth. Though they still become crystal afterwards and when they are finally free the brands are completely gone.Good talk!
>>584099739>you add 1 post accusing OP of being a Yoshicultist, you add another post on a different account that has a shared library with the first account, and you accuse the OP of being JimboHave you faggots considered that maybe I just made the OP because I wanted to talk about Final Fantasy without necessarily wanting the mentally ill trannies to make it about their mediocre remake?

>>584100725Yeah, that cockroach's very angry. You just know that this hit and very personal for it to get so angry about it.Then again, we are talking about a cultist who kisses the shitstain that FFXIII was, and then tries to tell off everyone else by accusing them of being cultist. Prime projection.
>>584100653Here's a protip, anon:When people address questions to (You), you do not answer them. Then what you do in retaliation is you get triggered and start fake replying with posts addressed to no one while you reply to yourself, patting yourself on the back, creating schizophrenic head canons in collaboration with yourself that have been wholly removed from what the reality actually is. You don't engage with anyone. You get triggered, then you start replying to yourself, making posts addressed to no one. Then you try to say "hah! no one is answering my questions!" when you didn't actually ask anyone anything. And that's putting aside the fact that (You) never attempting to answer questions that were very directly addressed to you.
>>584100934Funny, that's almost what the fatherless does. Except it answers questions with questions, and then acts offended when told to answer first, then it claims people are transphobe and hate Lightning and ask why everyone is jealous of that mediocre corridor simulator.

It's because nobody wants to talk about FFXVI.

Literally *HUNDREDS* of updoots on every negative Steam review is a good thing. And believe me, there are many negative Steam reviews; it usually has a mixed score for the past 30 days, after all.
>>584101920The cultists want you to think that the majority of people hate Rebirth or/and the trilogy. But if that were the case, 4,500 people wouldn't still be playing Rebirth three years later. People really disliked Veilguard, and look at the state of that game after two years: ~400 players; it’s practically dead despite sales and stuff. Streamers milked the hate surrounding it for the first month, and then everyone forgot about it. Meanwhile, the numbers for Rebirth and Remake remain strong.

Yknow, those "hate cultists" you think attack Yoshida?>>584102262I think the original PS5 metacritic score being equal to the original game speaks for itself. It won like 50 GOTY awards. Many former Sony exclusives have worse scores on PC than console, it's a totally different player base that want different things. It's a shame that Steam reviews have a lot of negativity. I won't dismiss many of their criticisms either because I share some of them, the game isn't perfect. But PC players can be some of the most whiny and belligerent, snobby people in all of gaming. If it doesn't have their specific niche then it's shit. If it doesn't run well enough on AMD it's shit. If it's "Ubisoft" it's shit. PC elitists specifically often have a lot of disdain for console games/gamers and console game designs like yellow paint. Either way, VIIR is an easy target. It's anime cringe and it's UE slop and it's Ubisoft slop and it's remake slop and nostalgia slop and etc etc etc. There's a never ending cavalcade of low hanging fruit that can be hyper fixated on and shitposted about literally endlessly for years and years and years.

It's still dated and ugly and busy, with limited scale and lacking many features that contemporary games all have. PC mods will be almost required. The story is definitely looking like it should be the best one yet based on what we know of the original, but they just can't fumble the ball whatsoever. And I'm not totally convinced that there won't be more narrative fumbles during Revelation. Whether it's the Zack stuff and how they explain these nearly incomprehensible sub plots or what have you, I don't have a ton of confidence that it's all actually going to come together and make sense.I'm still very excited to see what that mess looks like. Yuffies content alone makes the $70 worth it.
>>584106160>I really don't thinkWe know. You made that obvious plenty of times.
>>584106160>I>I'm>me>I'm>IAttention whooooore~
I think Final Fantasy's pretty mid and usually overrated, through it is to be expected since it's the flagship of JRPGs, just like Halloween is the flagship of slasher movies and thus feels cliché and mediocre compared to more modern games (or in Halloween's case, movies). You can't invent anything new if you're the pioneer, after all.
>>584106160>Yuffies content alone makes the $70 worth it.like when I saw new Yuffies outfit I was like wtf did they nuke their ethics department or what
>>584106534>I was like wtf did they nuke their ethics department or whatIt's literally MORE coverage than her default outfit... you VIIRgins are insane

>>584106812>You really got under his skin, lol.I don't even understand why he'd get mad about something so obviously true and plainly observable, then again I guess the thing that always has triggered him the most is the truth.
>>584093270When you're right, you're right. So right in fact that nobody even dared to reply to you. All of this could have been avoided if....well you know the rest.
>>584107285Keep in mind that you're talking about a creature that believes that anyone agreeing with it is actually ironic and secretly disagrees with it.Is it really that hard to imagine that saying stupid crap and getting noticed that it's full of shit wouldn't make it angry, especially since it cannot deflect like it usually does?
>>584107425When you put it that way... you do have a point. >>584107410>So right in fact that nobody even dared to reply to youWhen you do your monologue thing, if the post is longer than 1 line and was obviously made by you, I just ignore it. You only ever shitpost, especially when you stop replying to people and do your monologue thing, so it can't actually be anything worth reading.
>>584107664Exactly. Now watch as he's either going to ignore you and answer itself with "bodied that freak, king", or ignore what you said and order you to answer him.
>>584106623Let me explain this to you, TikTok foid.Yes, there is more coverage here, but the outfit is actually more revealing for the male's mind. For instance, those straps from her shorts create the impression that she’s wearing high-leg V-front panties: the waistband doesn't sit horizontally across the hips but is pulled high at the sides, creating a distinct V-line that dips toward the lower abdomen—a detail that adds +5000 sex points in the imagination of any normal heteronormative, heterosexual man (XY chromosomes).I hope this information helps you dress better IRL and stop supporting Lindsay Clancy.
I don't even post here anymore. I got sick of being agreed with. It's impossible to discuss anything when someone else is agreeing with you.
>>584107285>thing that always has triggered him the most is the truthYup, yup. As he recently proved it with his embarassing meltdown, he really HATES the truth. Look at him seething and making up bullshit excuses while insulting you. What a juvenile outburst...
>>584107664I didn't write that post. Sad! Try again!>>584107734>+10000 to Cinema>+7000 to Yuffie sexAh yes, indeed. What you just posted is what I'd call 'elite ball knowledge'.
>>584107734>Let me explain this to you, TikTok foid.I'm a straight white man who has never even downloaded TikTok. That's actually how I know that Yuffie's outfit is actually more coverage than just her default outfit (which has already been censored by being buttoned and belted). Actually, Final Fantasy VII Remake has been rigorously sanitized. For example, since Tifa has boobs, designing a bikini that muted her more feminine features and that was unappealing from all angles took a lot of work, but eventually they made a bikini de-sexed enough that the ethics department approved it, and VIIRgins slurped that slop up and tried to pass it off as sexy just like you're doing with your even-more-clothed Yuffie right now.
This nigga absolutely HATES Final Fantasy VIIR lol
>>584107934>I'm a straight white man who has never even downloaded TikTok.Careful, the fatherless is triggered even further by the smell of undeniable superiority, that cockroach is going to lose its sanity even further.
>>584107906>I didn't write that post. Sad! Try again! You and I both know that's a lie.
Final Fantasy?
Unpopular opinion, but I'd rather have Rydia as a versatile mage than as a summoner biclassed black mage.
Yay maybe it's finally over!>>584108245By the time you get Rydia back, you have Rosa who is enough healing that you don't also need Rydia to heal. Then you have FuSoYa for a while. I never played the PSP version though where you can change your endgame party around.
>>584107934>more-clothed Yuffie right nowYou see, it’s a pretty complex equation: the amount of skin showing matters, sure, but in many cases, the image or association evoked by design elements (like fishnet or the V-shape of straps in our case-study) matters even more. Therefore, scientifically speaking, the drop in the "sex factor" due to more coverage is compensated for by these details.Sometimes, adding just a little more clothing actually heightens the sex appeal because those design details trigger specific mental associations. It’s like how hookers love fishnet chokers; it’s just one extra accessory, that covers more, yet its impact on the mind of any normal man (not (You)) is like a nuclear explosion. So you can tell you reductive simpleton long shits to own VIIRgins to someone else, not me.
It's not over...>>584108609I'm not gonna read this cope, man. I can already tell this is just another shitpost. Yuffie's """sexy""" outfit that makes VIIRgin cultist use the marketer tactic of lying by coping that "oh it's so sexy the ethics department must be gone" is just completely false and observably so. She's literally wearing MORE clothes.
>>584107997I'm not lying to (You), my sweet dear unbiased-kun. I do know that you can not and will not ever accept anything I ever say at face value, including my real life first name (not Paulie!). Because you really do seem to have a deep hateful obsession with poopdick schizo tier namefag theatre. That's what I knowYou didn't believe me when I first showed up in 2024 and said I have nothing to do with your years-long namefag theatre nonsensical drama. You imagined that I am secretly your years-long boogieman who disappeared and created a new split personality and is lying about it. You created a chart about it. You updated that chart and doubled down on that lie. You STILL believe that schizo ass shit you made up, and you post about it almost every day.You post intimate fantasies about your Lightning avatarfag boyfriend for literally hours of your life alongside your ESL butt buddy in my fan club. You post about me whenever I'm gone. You post about what you think I'm posting about on /v/. You imagine the Ba7ry boogieman is also me and is behind every single FFVIIR thread. You think I live in your walls. You tag-team shitpost and attack basically everyone here with the ESL fatherless spammer, who is a total laughing stock, without a single ounce of shame or self awareness for your very unique position in creating the mess that is /ffg/And you feel this way about a stranger so strongly. All because I have the nerve to post Lightning, agree with posts you don't agree with, and won't kiss Yoshida's ring. Sad!>>584108609I did not write this post.
>>584108601Yeah but the difference is that I don't like Rosa.Rydia has a story, she had a mother, a village, she was saved by the men who killed everyone she knew, and she has to fight her pyrophobia, before getting abducted and living most of her life in the fae march.Rosa has no family (Cid is either her uncle or her godfather, it's not clear), she has little personality beside "I love Cecil and I know magic", and the only moment she get to have any important role in the story is to get a pep talk to Rydia and get abducted and reduced to a bargain token. And her talk with Rydia doesn't even involve spanking her.You talk of wasted potential in recent games? FFIV's Rosa is downright flat.
>>584109116>another max length shitpostBro, no one wants to read your posts in the first place, they're definitely not reading the max length ones.
By the way did you know that the most popular Aerith mod on Nexus is "Nerdy Aerith"? And she's pretty covered in those outfits. What can I say? When a normal man sees this photo, the only thought in his head should ideally be about procreation. When a local woman from Twitter sees this photo, she thinks about how to "own" VIIRgins or smth. Sad state of affairs.>>584108826Concession accepted.
>>584109190>she has little personality beside "I love Cecil For some people, that is an incredibly deep personality.
>>584108826oh, i briefly though she had a purple cat tail that was wagging because she was enjoying her meal>>584109116nigga i ain't reading all that shiti'm sorry this happened to youor glad if it's something bad
Here is another telling example of a design where most of the body is covered by clothing. Yet, there is one specific detail that would make any normal man (this excludes the local passive-aggressive woman) have just one thought in their brain. I don’t even need to explain: if you get it, you get it.
>>584109291I dunno, even Tifa has more personality: she has a story, she has secrets... Even if in the end, she fails that test where female characters have to be alone in a scene and NOT talk about a male character, she still has more story than Rosa.If I play FFVII, I know who Tifa is, what her relation to Cloud is, what size her panties are, and that she can suplex a train, but Rosa? Bitch I played the fuck out of FFIV (okay I'm exagerating I'm just halfway through it), and I still have no idea whomst the fuck Rosa is.To be honest, I kinda expect her to be some kind of alien that brainwashed everyone into believing she was here all along when she in fact only joined the party for the last dungeon, and then I'll get a flashback showing that Rosa actually was never present during event and her presence was just her messing with Cecil's memory.
>he's moving the goalposts and creating entirely new conversations now>while still fake replying to no one, his hallmark calling card>while attempting to larp as who he thinks Vanillefag was>except this version of Vanillefag is getting angryYou're blurring too many of your personalities together, little man.

>>584109480>Even if in the end, she fails that test where female characters have to be alone in a scene and NOT talk about a male character, she still has more story than Rosa.To be fair to Tifa, as bland as she is and as much as the only thing she ever says is "Cloud", she does probably still have more of a personality than Rosa.
>>584107906>What you just posted is what I'd call 'elite ball knowledge'.I think it’s just common sense for any man (male, XY, not related to VIIR shitspoter).
>>584109740No one is buying it, little man. And if you want people to read your shitposts, don't make them max length. Stop getting upset that people don't read your max length shitposts.
>>584109210>>584109380For some reason you seem to be causing a serious ruckus over there. Nobody is disagreeing with what you're saying, but for some reason you're pissing off the locals. And they think you're Vanille-kun lol whenever you're quite OBVIOUSLY Cait-Sith cinema-chan.
>>584109803Tifa does show some personality in the game, but yeah, you're right. It's very little.Like hiding from Cloud after the Mt Corel incident, putting on her best dress when he asks her out... Otherwise yeah, she says very little about herself. I mean, when I played FFVII as a kid, I wasn't even sure she was part of AVALANCHE, I thought she just sympathized with them and allowed them to have their hideouts at her bar, but wasn't part of the actual group. So sure, the translation was awful, but you know a story is bad if I don't know a character's personality when it's one of the main characters.
>>584109915So you concede your position then. Many such cases>>584109842>baseball YuffieNice. Very nice

>>584110371>Do the 3D remake also fresh out Rosa?I'd have to play them side by side. There's not a TON of extra text, but there's a little bit. The beginning of the game where Rosa goes to Cecil actually feels like it serves a purpose in the 3D version.>>584105387meant for >>584110384

>>584111116The PR versions aren't the most complete, but they're the best if you rank all the pros and cons. They're easy to obtain and run, they have most bugs fixed, the translations are slightly better than the originals, and they have music rooms and cute animations.Given how many games at once I tend to play, I'd pick PR over the GBA version that I need to emulate then apply a retranslation patch then a fanmade rebalance patch then a patch that restore the cut content then spent one hour to set up all the options...Yeah, no.
>>584110002I’ve tried to have a civilized discussion about Rebirth here a few times, but it always ended up devolving into personal attacks against me and just low-effort trolling regarding VIIR.As for the expectations for Rebirth which we discussed earlier, I don’t think the game will be bad, even if the "Ubisoft-style" elements remain at the same level. It’ll simply be good, or maybe just decent, in terms of exploration and overall gameplay loop. Personally, I think the problem isn't really the towers, outposts, or repetitive activities themselves, which, by the way, don't repeat as often in Rebirth as they do in actual Ubisoft games, but rather the fact that everything is laid out openly for the player to see. The issue is the checklists! If all of that were somewhat more hidden, not explicitly spelled out in checklists, most experienced players would likely enjoy the playthrough a lot more.Hamaguchi himself seems like the kind of person who loves sharing information, to the point where his constant trailers and interviews are starting to annoy some people. He wants to share as much as possible and lay all his cards on the table. I don't know if that aspect of his personality influenced the design of Rebirth in any way, but it's a possibility.
>>584111279>it always ended up devolving into personal attacks against meThat is because the fatherless is literally unable to talk without resorting to namecalling. He's a loser, what can you do? You can't cure stupidity nor a lack of parenting.

>>584111431What game is that?
>>584111461Revelation
Thinking about it now...we’ve discussed the design of female characters' outfits and the issue of open-world checklists here, and the essence of both problems seems similar. Sometimes, concealing something serves to engage the will, emotions, and imagination, sparking desire and heightening interest. This applies just as much to the female body as it does to game maps. To a certain extent at least. Eureka!
>>584111590watthis gacha-like thing is in revelation?what the fuck is going on with this remake
>>584111625>and the issue of open-world checklists>Sometimes, concealing something serves to engage The great Yoko Taro once said that players feel true "freedom" in a game, not from sheer volume of content or checklists to complete, but rather by being shown a future which they did not (and could not have) envisioned in the past. An example of this would be the multiple endings of Automata. Or going from the Golden Age Arc of Berserk to the post-Eclipse arc.
>>584111858You tell me
>>584111934No, seriously. This kind of art is what I see in gacha games or in my Korean mobage I play to masturbate. And this is in Final Fantasy VII's remake?

>>584122015You're trying too hard.
Seeeeeeecret~
Peace, at last.
Fun fact: in FFXIV, the world's entire calendar is reset whenever there's a world-ending calamity, I think that when the game starts, they're at the Seventh one. They call these "umbral era", and the name is tied to the Ascians, the "ones with no shadows", that the FFXIV devs are cosplaying in that photo that shitposter love to post while calling the game a cult. The whole world is essentially just "X days since last apocalypse", and the world is built on ruins above ruins above ruins.
Fun fact: FFXIV keeps losing players, and the quality just keeps going downhill.
Still about FFXIV (I love that game), there's a hidden dig at peer pressure with the tribe of the Nibirun, a race of strange humanoid creatures who wear thick robes and masks to better fit into the mold of the group. They all committed a giant suicide when one of them denounced life as being a pointless exercise. Unable to resist the group's thoughts, the entire race committed suicide, creating a god to reap them and turn them into golden butterflies. Their planet went gray and lifeless when they all departed, where it was decorated with fields of gold that'd make the God-Emperor of Mankind and Scrooge McDuck jealous. They turned Elysium into Nagash's wastelands because they were unable to resist peer pressure.
Third fun fact about FFXIV (my fav FF), the loporrits, who populate moon, weren't created by the ancient (and severely decadent) Allag Empire. Unlike the other beastmen who were originally created for labour before the rise of Emperor Xande destroyed Allag and fred them, the bunny people were here since the very beginning.
Too bad there's no Boomerang in FFXIV. It'd be broken but fun.
>take nearly three years from its reveal to finally release beastmaster>its shitYoshida: Low quality that betrays fan expectations since 2023.
>>584136845>>584137360>>584137825somehow these innocent posts have caused the final fantasy house to completely lose their mindssad how they really hate any game better than the mediocre VIIR
Fine, let's talk about Final Fantasy VII instead. So, in Dirge of Cerberus, it's retconned that Hojo, all along, had an entire super elite army that was so super secret that even Rufus or Heiggeggegger didn't know about them, which is very weird since over the course of FFVII, he resigns from working at Shinra.
>>584140029The trick is to research the lore and think about it hard enough that all criticisms of the story become easy to dismiss. You're not supposed to think about it hard enough to create new criticisms. It's about finding that perfect balance.
Another thing about FFVII: in Advent Children, after spending the entire FFVII game getting over Sephiroth traumatizing him and Aerishit dying, for some reason, Cloud goes back to being sad. This is a reference to Max Payne and the cyclical nature of depression, how you get better before getting worse. In the upcoming Advent Children 2, Cloud will hide under his bed whenever he hears the noise of a long sword being unsheathed.
ANOTHER thing about FFVII: Vincent and Yuffie were actually optional characters in the real game, hence why at the start of Dirge of Cerberus, they're not present at the North Crater. And also on the PC release of VII (the original one), if recruited, Vincent would be bugged during Aerishit's death scene.
>>584137279>>584139234Sad but true
Another thing about FFVII: a bunch of losers founded the Final Fantasy House, a cult disguised as a LARP group, in which different "adults" believed to be the reincarnation of a video game's characters. This was the first instance of a cult within in the Final Fantasy fanbase, before FFVIIR came out and the Final Fantasy House was reformed.
>>584141795...oooh, so that's why they're always accusing FFXIV of having a cult mentality, it's just projection! It all makes sense now, they're literally seeing their own flaws and shortcomings in others.
>>584141795One of the many reasons why I've never been okay with criticism of VIIR. Anything bad you have to say about it and its fans should actually be directed towards the OG and OG fans. VIIR itself, and VIIR fans, haven't done anything to warrant the kinds of attacks we see against them on a near daily basis.
>>584142108Exactly. So keep in mind, whenever you see people talking shit about FFXIV, this is likely what you're trying to reason. No wonder they can't listen to reason.
>>584142517They should know better.
>>584141192Vincent and Yuffie are at North Crater according to AC. The opening of DC takes placed after the part returns to Midgar to stop Hojo but before Northern Crater.
>>584143340Odd that Barrett isn't present, then. Isn't this when he gets his ultimate weapon?
>>584143535Assuming the the ultimate weapons are themselves canonical, he gets it before they fight Hojo. Notably you can miss the item entirely if you don't have him in your party when going up to fight Hojo and can't return after defeating him.DC's opening is after Hojo has been killed, during the evac of Midgar, before North Crater.
>>584143786Assuming that you're a fucking retard then yeah you're right
>>584143786>Notably you can miss the item entirely if you don't have him in your party when going up to fight Hojo and can't return after defeating himThat's still fucking stupid.>>584143869No, he's right. >>584142517>muh criticism !
