Maybe I was a little too hard on Persona 3's gameplay. The fun sort of comes from decision making I guess.I still wish it was a bit more advanced somehow, like SMT V you could make Nahobino a support-only endurance build and he had a lot of custom skills, that kind of choice is missing. Or Metaphor had really tight battles that typically ended in a few rounds and was based around setting up big combos and big attacks, P3R is a bit more like a retro dungeon crawler with resource management.
