Trying to remain as spoiler free as possible, but does anyone have any info on whether I should immediately go into hard mode as a level 50 with unmoored dragon forged gear? I prefer games being on the harder side but standing on top of a chimaera and stabbing the goat head 8 trillion times because i'm woefully understatted doesn't sound appealing either.

Points where enemy defense stats overwhelm player offense stats results in a rough time. Get an upgrade to put you back in the sweet zone and it'll feel normal again. DD1 does this too.

DD2 exhausted me so severely with fodder encounters that the last time I played I walked into my last encounter and just let the enemies kill me as I put my controller down and went to play with my cat. I had to leave volcanic island rest camp to the east for the first time, and before I even reached the gate (the entirely peaceful gate with no guards on alert), I thought to myself "I bet there's gonna be an armoured cyclops and 600 goblins outside". Not far off, it turns out. I walked out into a bunch of hobgoblins, I think a harpy, and some class of Saurian group. They don't even make sense to be hanging around outside a defended gate and working together, but there they were. I can't fucking do it any more. I'm so fucking tired. I really wanted to finish this game but I knew when I walked out of that gate before I even saw if an encounter existed that I was going to lose all strength I had left the instant I loaded in. I actually felt all tension leave my body as I loaded into the encounter and realized "I'm uninstalling this game and never playing again". Ironically they accidentally succeeded in testing if you are the Arisen, because only someone of eternal willpower could force themselves to play the worst piece of dogshit sequel ever made to completion. I am saying this with all sincerity: I was so angry and tense about how shit the game was that when I left a town expecting to be made even angrier about the sheer shittyness of the game, I actually lost all that tension when I finally realized the game was so shit I suddenly had no desire to play ever again. I was Sisyphus, and allowing the boulder to crush me was better than getting it up that hill.

It's much more customizable, has nicer icons, and even shows on minimap with above/below arrows. Bakbattahl evac is the buggiest of them all, and there's a high chance Menella will die if you trigger the red beam after she appears to stop the two nitwits fighting. Even worse, NPCs that die in UW and aren't rezed right away are 'disabled' by the game. If you use an NPC tracking mod, you can still port to their location but their corpse will be invisible and unable to be interacted with, including Wakestones. Eternal Wakestone doesn't work either. Just FYI if you're trying to get achievements, it seems that the progress you've made in evacs don't reset when you reload from UW day 1, at least for me. When I reset to day 1 to do evacs again (after completing all evacs except for Bakbattahl), I did Bakbattahl first, and it Guardian immediately popped for me. I'd make a backup save just in case it doesn't work, though.
