Same author also wrote Nocturne (transsexual who chooses to stay in the nihilistic death cult even after having a chance to escape and even after seeing what they did to Shart) and the mishandling of Viconia (detailed here >>574416389, here >>464003772, and here >>459499290).It's a perfect example of a bad writer who fumbled several things but luckily had most of his bad writing hidden behind writing the conventionally most attractive waifu character that everyone falls in love with in act 1, and the vast majority of players don't see the rest (steam achievements still show that more than half of players are still in act 1).People have speculated a lot about why he wrote her this way. Some accuse him of self-inseting with Halsin, which is also why every other character has at least one line saying how hot he is, even the men. The other writers humored him. Some people say it's just a classic case of the author's barely disguised fetish, and he wrote both of them so could slip this in. Who knows.

Always wondered why the base game never had any gambling. It would have been trivial for Styg to program some games and shove them into the Junkyard gambling house, like Fallout 1 or 2. That would have been far too simple and generic apparently, and I agree with that mindset. Race betting isn't unique - fair - it was first done in 1992 to my knowledge, but it's a lot less generic and as shown here, it can turn out to be more appropriate and seamless to the setting.
