The licensing nonsense complicating potential sales of remastered AC games has reinforced what I always figured was a dogshit opinion of mine, so I'll float it here: I think Project Aces has a lot to gain from making a game consisting entirely of original planes. I know 3 is technically that, but a lot of those are futurized variants of real craft. They're experienced enough at modeling planes by now, and they've come up with a solid roster of originals over the years. Even if they basically take a real plane and fuck with it a bit, that can still result in coolness/hilarity like the Ladon. It's not like any of the real planes in AC are at all representative of their performance IRL anyway, they're basically shells set atop an arbitrary set of stats and loadout. On top of that, IRL has been very disappointing in providing new planes to play around with over the last 20 years or so, biggest shakeup was probably the Su-57. But now Russia's aviation industry is toast, China is off limits, and the US and Europe are taking forever to come up with something they're willing to show off. If the real world is too lazy to provide cool new planes, I see no reason PA shouldn't make up more of their own. This would also enable them to dodge licensing bullshit entirely, perhaps come up with their own Tornado, for instance. I know the IRL planes are a solid chunk of Ace Combat's appeal, but I think PA can afford to be more adventurous with future titles. I do enjoy my Eagles and Flankers and so on myself, but I could live with copyright friendly analogues. This might partially be coming from my playtime in Nuclear Option, which does indeed have its own roster of original planes, some of which are obviously influenced by real designs. What do we think, do we trust PA to make cool shit if real planes were left off the table?

it's kind of crazy that the spirit of the Morgan translated so well to its AC8 iteration. The trick with the Morgan against good teams is to get good at dumbfiring MBPM to snatch clusters of ground enemies early, and getting good at positioning and aim to TLS clusters of enemy fighters early. Your results will depend almost purely on your aim.It's less braindead than MiG-31 LAAM / SAAM spam, that's for sure.
